Sampling, sequencing and so much more.
Looking for a better way to make music? Roland's MV-8000 Production Studio puts sampling,
sequencing, effect processing, mixing, mastering and CD burning in a tabletop workstation designed
to feel less like a studio and more like a musical instrument.
Roland's Next-Generation Sampling Engine.
Professional Sampling
This is no “stripped down” sampler! The MV-8000 comes with 128MB of
sample RAM, which can be expanded to 512MB for up to 100 minutes of
recording (when in mono). Audio can be chopped and time stretched, or
processed using filters, amplifiers and LFO's derived from Roland's latest
synthesizers. And with 24-bit stereo analog outputs and a S/PDIF digital
output, your music always sounds great.
Load It Up!
The MV-8000 is compatible with today's most popular audio formats
including Roland S-700, Akai MPC2000, ACIDized wave files, and stan-
dard .WAV/AIFF files. Libraries can be imported via floppy, CD-ROM or
USB, and then exported in .WAV/AIFF format or “burned” as an audio
disc. Of course, user sampling is also provided, along with a choice of
Mic/Line and TRS inputs, plus Phono inputs for sampling vinyl.
*All trademarks are property of their respective owners.
Maximum Flexibility
For the ultimate in arranging, the MV-8000 makes it possible to easily
move samples into one of the sequencer's audio tracks. Likewise, you
can also move the contents of an audio track back into the sampling sec-
tion to perform additional processing.
Internal 40GB Hard Drive
Amassive 40GB hard drive offers a convenient way to store sample and
project data. When connected via USB, the hard drive will appear as an
icon on your computer desktop, making it easy to drag and drop files
back and forth between the MV-8000 and a Mac/PC.
*Note that it is not possible to record directly to the hard drive. Recordings are made using the internal
RAM and then saved to the hard drive.
AMusical Approach to Production.
Slider-Based Mixing
To mix your tracks, simple grab the eight assignable sliders and
watch as their values update on the display. Or assign them to
other parameters like filter cutoff for easy realtime control (the
sliders can control multiple parameters simultaneously).
16 Pro-Quality Velocity Pads
Located on the left side, the MV-8000's large velocity- and
aftertouch-sensitive pads give you a tight and responsive feel
that's perfect for programming beats. Use the Roll function to
create instant drum rolls, or map a single sample at 16 veloci-
ties using “Multi Level.”
Helpful Display and Knobs
Getting around the MV-8000 is a snap, thanks to a large,
graphic display with helpful icons and an easy-to-read angled
design. Three realtime control knobs—dedicated for effects—
make editing fast and intuitive.
An “Effect-ive” Sampling Studio.
Be A Mixmaster
Once you've mixed down your track, run it through the onboard
Mastering Tool Kit to give it more punch and clarity. This is the
same algorithm made famous in Roland V-Studios, and it's
loaded with tools like a multi-band compressor, enhancer,
expander and EQ. Beef up your mix before burning a CD!
Onboard Reverb, Chorus and Delay
Whether you need a studio-quality plate reverb for a vocal or
some chorus to fatten up an acoustic guitar, the MV-8000 has
you covered with separate Reverb and Chorus/Delay
processors.
Killer Multi-Effects with COSM
The MV-8000's separate multi-effects processor serves up a
variety of powerful algorithms like Isolator and Filter, plus
COSM®modeling effects like RSS®, Guitar Multi and
Microphone Modeling. You also get vintage effects like Roland's
RE-201 Tape Echo, SDD-320 Dimension D Chorus, SBF-325
Stereo Flanger and a vocoder. Effects can be recorded and
resampled to create entirely new sounds.
Powerful Expansions and V-LINK.
*V-LINK requires the Edirol DV-7PR Digital Video Workstation
(sold separately) with software version 1.50 or higher.
Monitor/Mouse Support Coming
In 2004, Roland will release an optional VGA
output board bundled with new software for
full monitor and mouse support. This will
allow users to edit and control the MV-8000
using drag-and-drop commands and a soft-
Optional MV8-OP1 Expansion Board
Pop this into your MV-8000 and you'll get six additional analog outputs, a S/PDIF
digital input, and an R-BUS port for eight channels of simultaneous digital output
and two channels of digital
audio input. No pro user
should be without this board.
V-LINK Video Control
Roland's V-LINK technology lets you control
Edirol
video equipment right from the MV-8000. Trigger
video clips from the pads, or use the sliders and
knobs to create interesting effects like color and
brightness control. It's a live performer's dream!
Complete Sequencing and Arranging Capabilities.
Tight Audio/MIDI Integration
The MV-8000 boasts 136 tracks of audio and MIDI sequencing. These
include 128 MIDI tracks (with 32-channel operation using external MIDI
gear) and eight stereo audio tracks (16 mono) that can be used as a lin-
ear recorder. Audio and MIDI can be integrated seamlessly, allowing you
to program beats on the MIDI tracks and combine them with vocals or
acoustic instruments that have been recorded to the audio tracks. The
MV-8000 can even sync audio recordings to the sequencer's BPM with-
out changing pitch.
Easy Editing on Graphic LCD
Whether you want to edit MIDI, copy audio phrases or loop an entire
sequence, the MV-8000's large graphic display makes it easy. Use the
Event List or Piano Roll editors to tweak your performance, or select Play
Quantize to tighten up any of your tracks by adjusting each track's timing
data by a percentage.
