This document describes the features that have been added in this update.
In order to fully understand the M-480’s new features, please read this document together with the Owner’s
Manual for the M-480.

New functionality for scene memory
• A fade function has been added.
• Detailed settings have been added for the Recall Filter function, enabling the individual range to be set
independently for channels, DCA/MUTE groups, and effects.
The fade function makes parameters change gradually over a specific interval when a scene memory is recalled.
The fade function can be set individually for each scene.
The parameters for which the fade function is enabled are shown below.
• Faders for the respective channels
• Pan (or balance) for the respective channels
1. At the SCENE MEMORY section, press [DISP].
The SCENE screen is displayed.
When the fade function is enabled for a scene memory, FADE is displayed in the STATUS field for the scene memory
on the scene list at the SCENE screen.

2. From the scene list, select the target scene, then press [F4 (PARAM EDIT)].
This accesses the RECALL PARAMETER EDIT popup.

USE FADE button
Selecting the check box enables the fade function.
Fade time
This sets the duration of the fade.
You can set it up to a maximum of 100 seconds.
PAN
Selecting this check box enables the fade function for panning (or balance) as well.
3. Select the check box for the USE FADE button.
4. Set the fade time.
5. Press [F8 (OK)] to apply the changes and close the popup.
Recalling a scene memory for which the fade function is enabled and then again recalling the same scene memory
causes the values registered to the scene memory to be updated instantly.

Using the detailed settings for the Recall Filter function lets you recall the following individually.

1. At the SCENE MEMORY section, press [DISP].
The SCENE screen is displayed.
The RECALL PARAMETERS box in the scene list is displayed as shown below, depending on the state of the detailed
settings for the Recall Filter function.

The RECALL PARAMETERS selection buttons are displayed as shown below, depending on the state of the detailed
settings for the Recall Filter function.
In the case of , pressing [ENTER] displays the RECALL PARAMETER DETAIL popup.
3. Press [F4 (DETAIL)].
The RECALL PARAMETER DETAIL popup appears.
❖Channel recall range setting button
Specify the channels to include in the recall range. Clearing a check mark excludes the item from scene recall.
4. Press [F8 (CLOSE)] to close the RECALL PARAMETER DETAIL popup.
5. Press [F1 (RECALL FILTER)] to activate.
6. Press [F8 (OK)] to apply the changes and close the popup.

Added effect types
This is a chorus modeled on the Boss CE-1 Chorus Ensemble.
The original has mono in and mono out (or wet/dry out) specifications, but the modeling adds a mode selection
switch that also enables use as an effect with stereo in or stereo out specifications. The modeling also provides a
level knob for adjusting the output level.
The CE-1 was launched in 1976 as the first Boss-brand product.

This is distortion/overdrive that has dual mono specifications with noise suppressor.
The DISTORTION/OVERDRIVE selection button enables use as either distortion or overdrive.

This regularizes the volume level for separate bands (low, midrange, and high).
When the EQ/Enhancer tab is displayed, the controls in the EQUALIZER area of the CHANNEL EDIT section can be
used for EQ operations.

◆SPLIT : Splits the original sound into three frequency bands (low, middle, and high)
• Splitting into bands
When splitting sound into high, midrange, and low bands, the frequencies are specified by the low-split point
(SPLIT LO) and high-split point (SPLIT HI).
◆INPUT
• Input "look-ahead time" effect
With an ordinary compressor, a momentary delay occurs before compression starts after an exceeded level is
detected.
This algorithm is intended to avoid this problem by using only detection of the input-sound level to use sound
delayed by a specified amount for actual processing and output.
The delay-time setting for this is input look-ahead time (LOOK-AHEAD).
Applying look-ahead time creates a time lag between input and output audio signals, and so care is required when
using it with channel insertion or the like.

◆3-BAND COMPRESSOR : Globally compresses the output signal when the input volume level exceeds a specific value
The compressor automatically corrects the level to optimal based on the settings for the threshold level (THRE) and
ratio (RATIO). Also, because longer attack times (ATK) can cause distortion, a margin of -6 dB is applied. Adjust the
mixer (MIX) level as required.

When DCA groups have been assigned to user fader layers, the DCA group assignments can be checked at the
METER screen (LAYER VIEW tab).

This displays the assignments for the selected DCA groups.
Pressing [ENTER] lets you switch an assignment to a DCA group on or off.

This switches SOLO for a DCA group on or off.

This switches MUTE for a DCA group on or off.

This adjusts the level of a DCA group within a range of -Inf dB to +10 dB.

The DCA GROUP screen appears.
2. Move the cursor to the target DCA group, then press [F1 (CH DISP)].
The CHANNEL DISPLAY screen appears.
When DCA groups have been assigned to user fader layers, pressing [SEL] for a fader module where a DCA group has
been assigned lets you access the CHANNEL DISPLAY screen.
