Safety Instructions
Thank you for purchasing Safety View backup camera monitor DVR
model SVM-M718-4DVR.
Please read through this
manual before installing and operating this equipment.
CAUTIONS:
Please read the operating manual carefully and keep the man-
ual in the cab for future reference
Please do not install this monitor where it can obstruct the op-
erators' safe view.
Do not use a water hose or pressure washer to clean this
monitor. (If you intend to subject this monitor to moisture. Only
use soft damp cloth to clean the display and housing. Do not use
alcohol or other chemical cleaners.
Storage temperature is –30c~70C
Do Not focus on this monitor while driving.
Do Not adjust buttons on front monitor panel while driving.
Distractive driving laws are in effect in most jurisdictions.
Always look around you, through the windows, in the mirrors
and on the monitor before placing your equipment in reverse. If
you still have blind spots around your machine, you will need to
add additional cameras to this 4 channel DVR monitor or use a
trained signaller. By Law, Do Not operate your machine or truck
in reverse if there is blind spots.
Do not operate your machine or truck if the monitor/camera
and or mirrors are not functioning.
Only install this monitor on 9 ~ 36 Volt DC equipment

Components
Before you begin to install your new Safety View backup camera system,
please check that you have everything needed for the installation.
What’s in the box
1. One 7” 4 ch color monitor with DVR and remote
2. One Steel U-Bracket or Ram mount
3. Four bolts (butterfly or cap screws) for mounting monitor to
bracket
4. One Wiring harness consists of Four camera inputs, power
wire, Acc wire, ground wire and 4 trigger wires
5. 1 to 4 Camera cables if purchased as a kit
6. 1 to 4 cameras if purchased as a kit
7. Wire ties, clips, fuse and small screws/bolts
8. Instruction/operating manual, Warranty information

Installation
Step 1 Find a safe suitable location for mounting the DVR monitor. Make sure it
does not interfere with the opera-tor’s view. Mark the three holes in the u
bracket (1) where the monitor will be permanently fastened. Drill three pilot
holes for the bracket. Remove the bracket hinge bolts (11) and the hand ten-
sion knobs (12) fasten the U-bracket to the marked/drill location with three
mounting screws. If a stronger mounting is need or preferred, use three
stainless steel bolts, lock washers and hex nuts. Contact customer service for
ordering.
Step 2 Place the monitor back on the bracket using the two hinge bolts and the
two tension knobs. Do Not tighten. Hand tight enough to allow free movement
of the monitor. Adjust the monitor up to 30 degrees forward and up to 30 de-
grees backwards and than hand tight the knobs so the monitor does not allow
movement.

Operating Instructions
After installing the SD card, Turn the power on
Under the DVR mode, press MODE to switch record/playback, press
enter to confirm the selection
Press and hold the DVR/AV button for 5 sec to switch from single to
quad modes
Press the menu button to adjust the user preferences with power but-
ton to page down

Step 3 Mount video camera as per manufactures instructions. Route camera
cables through equipment/machine being careful not to come into contact with
hot machine parts, moving parts or sharp objects. Find a suit-able opening
through the cab. Try routing the cable along side with other cables or hydraulic
lines. If no holes or
access plates available. Drill a hole through the cab slightly larger than the
camera cable connector. Place a rubber grommet inside the drill hole to protect
the camera cable.
Take notice you may not drill or modify the cab by some manufactures war-
ranty. Also take note that most cabs are ROPS certified and may not allow
holes drilled. Check with the machine manufacture for permission to drill.
Step 4 Connect the male end of the camera cable to the camera. Apply electri-
cal sealant to the connectors if the equipment is used in damp and or salt loca-
tions. (Grote Ultra-seal or equivalent) Tighten by hand the locking ring on the
connector. Do not use pliers to tighten. Slide the waterproof rubber boot over
the connector
Step 5 repeat step 4 for addition cameras
Step 6 Connect the wiring harness (shown below) to the monitor cable. (This
may already be connected from the factory. If so, skip to step 7). 13 pin male
plug to the 13 pin monitor female connector. Caution: Align the arrows on both
male and female connectors. Failing to align the arrows will result in broken
pins.

Step 6 Connect the 4 pin female camera cable to 4 pin male camera input
on the wiring harness marked AV2. This is the rear camera connection. If
you are connecting four cameras to this system, repeat steps 3 and 4. and
connect the 4 pin. See steps 10,10a and 10b
Please note: always connect the backup camera to AV2.
AV1, AV3 and AV4 is reserved for side or front cameras.
The backup reverse function switches from AV1,3,4 to AV2 when reversing.
Step 7 Connect the green wire from the wiring harness to the positive side
of the equipment back up alarm. This will activate the backup parking line
feature.
Step 8 Connect the gray wire from the wiring harness to the positive side of
the right turn signal or the object detection sensors. This will activate the
Camera 4 (ch4) feature.
Step 9 Connect the blue wire from the wiring harness to the positive side of
the left turn signal or the object detection sensors. This will activate the
Camera 3 (ch3) feature.
Step 10 Channel 1 is for Camera 1. Connect Camera cable to front camera
Step 10a Channel 3 is left camera. Connect camera cable to left camera
Step 10b Channel 4 is right camera. Connect camera cable to right camera
Step 11 Connect the red wire to 12 or 24 volt supply in the fuse box.
Step 12 Connect the brown wire to 12v or 24 volts acc power. Make sure to
use accessories/ignition side. In some cases you may be able to use the
12v accessories/cigarette line. Check with the equipment manufacture to
see if the line can accommodate the extra current.
Step 13 Secure all cables and test the camera system.
