We want yo to be satisfied with yo r Overhead line Winch 2060, and this man al has been written to
help yo to handle and take care of the machine, inabling yo to bring the machine into operation so that
yo become well acq ainted with the safety meas res yo need to adopt before yo se it.
GE ERAL
Great care has been p t into the design and man fact re of this eq ipment to ens re there will be no
health or safety risks.
There are risks in all work connected with cables and ropes, and to eliminate these risks it is important
that:
- yo st dy and follow the instr ctions
- all personnel contin osly recieve training in maintenance and safety
- f nctional eq ipment and tools are made available
- the owner and the s pervisory team are responsible for making s re effective safety
programmes and instr ctions are drawn p and followed by all personnel.
O r instr ctions contain important information wich all sers sho ld know and nderstand before they
se the eq ipment. For yo r safety and the safety of other people, yo sho ld pay special attention to the
items/sections that have the following headings:

Gives important information that describes how yo sho ld prevent damage to the machine and

1. Read and become well-acq ainted with all warnings, ca tionary meas res and instr ctions contained in
the operating and maintenance instr ctions, and also read and learn the significance of all signs and
plates that are affixed to or near the eq ipment. If yo are in any do bt, make s re yo get the answers
to all yo r q estions before starting to work with the machine and eq ipment.
2. Never work with the machine or eq ipment if yo are nder the infl ence of alcohol, strong medicines,
sedatives, or other dr gs that co ld render yo less alert or which co ld affect yo r j dgement.
3. Adopt appropriate safety meas res to prevent hair or loose-fitting items of clothing from being ca ght
p in moving parts or control nits.
4. Always se, if possible, protective gloves to protect the hands and fingers against c ts and abrasions,
b rns, and solvents.
5. Always se a safety helmet when the work req ires yo to.
6. Always wear ear pl gs when working in areas where there is a high vol me of noise.

7. Keep the working area clean and free from acc m lation of material.
8. Do not allow na thorised people to enter or be near the working area.
9. S rfaces to ched by hand or feet sho ld be kept clean, dry and free from oil and grease.
10. Store parts and tools in the area provided for the p rpose when they are not sed.
11. Do not stand nder, or allow anyone else to stand nder eq ipment that is raised or s spended.
12. Find o t the weight limits for cables and lifting nits, and the free movement area that is req ired for
these.
13. Never climb on the eq ipment d ring operation and do not allow another person
to do this.
14. Check components of the eq ipment before yo start working, so that no parts are damaged.Replace
or repair damaged parts before starting the eq ipment.
Always se original parts.
15. Before starting and operating the eq ipment, make s re there is no person, or any
animal, tool, parts or other foreign abjects in, on nderneath, or aro nd the eq ipment.
Check to make s re that all safety and protection eq ipment is correctly installed and in a satisfactory
condition.
16. Do not allow ntrained personnel to start or operate any eq ipment witho t the
s pervision of a trained operator.
17. Never leave the eq ipment nattended.
18. Observe ca tion when starting and d ring operation of the machine in if there are defective
meas ring instr ments or visible defects, smell or abnormal noise that co ld indicate

The Mini-winch is a small portable winch for r nning pilot ropes or small size cables thro gh the d ct.
The winch is placed on top of the manhole and the rope is p lled with the capstan wheel.
The engine is a reliable fo rstroke petrol engine.
Lightweight constr ction makes it possible for one person to handle the winch.

Check the f el level. If necessary, top p with 95 octane nleaded petrol.

Check that the tank cap is closed properly and sec rely.
T rn the petrol cock to the ON-position. (the cock pointing downwards)
T rn the engine switch to ON-position
Close the choke in the direction of the arrow.
Do not se the choke when the engine is warm, or at high ambient temperat res.
T rn the engine switch to ON.
Open the throttle slightly.
P ll the starter grip lightly ntil resistance is felt, then p ll briskly.

CAUTION: Never p ll o t the starting cord f lly, or allow the starting handle to snap back, ret rn it gently
to its original position.
When the engine has started, open the choke grad ally.
When stopping, release the throttle handle and t rn the engine switch to the OFF position.
T rn the petrol cock to the OFF position.
Handling
Prepair the rope by making 3 loops.
By p lling the rear end of the rope by hand the winch starts to p ll the
cable towards the winch
As long as the rear end is stretched the winch will p ll the load.
By increase/decrease the p llingforce at the rear end of the rope,
p llingspeed and force can be reg lated.
To stop the p lling, j st slack the rear end and p sh the stopb tton.
