Installation for Mechanical (Cable Operated)
Shifters & Disc Brakes
Warbird frames use cable routing tunnels for easy installation
and maintenance. Improperly routed cables will make themselves
obvious when it comes time to connect cables to components,
but follow these instructions to expedite the build process.
1. Remove the bottom bracket cover via the two M3 bolt heads.
2. If your bike uses a front derailleur, feed the shift housing
through the top DRIVESIDE port at the top of the downtube
until it comes to the opening in the bottom bracket shell.
Turn the housing up into the internal housing stop behind the
bottom bracket and feed the shift cable through the stop to the
front derailleur (Figs. 1 & 2).
3. Insert the housing for the rear derailleur through the top
NON-DRIVESIDE port at the top of the downtube until it comes
to the opening in the bottom bracket shell, direct the housing
into the drive side chainstay tube and push it until it exits at the
rear of the driveside seatstay (Figs. 1, 2, & 3).
4. For brakes, feed the brake housing through the
NON-DRIVESIDE port on the side of the downtube until
it exits the rear non-driveside chainstay (Figs. 1 & 3).
5. Reinstall the M3 bottom bracket shell cover bolts and tighten
to 1 Nm.

WARBIRD CABLE ROUTING INSTRUCTIONS
Installation for Shimano Di2 (Electronic)
Shifters
1. Di2 installation can be done with bottom bracket installed,
but is much easier done WITHOUT a bottom bracket installed.
2. Remove the bottom bracket cover via the two M3 mm
bolt heads.
3. Di2 wiring uses the same cable housing tunnels as mechanical
components do. Feed the single wire from the junction box
underneath your stem through the NON-DRIVESIDE port at the
top of the downtube until it comes to the opening in the bottom
bracket shell and can be plugged into the junction box located
there (Figs. 1 & 4).
4. Wiring for a FRONT DERAILLEUR will come up from the
junction box in the bottom bracket shell to the small port
below the front derailleur and seat tube waterbottle mounting
holes (Fig. 3).
5. Wiring for the REAR DERAILLEUR will come from the junction
box in the bottom bracket shell through the tunnel that exits at
the back of the driveside seatstay (Figs. 3 & 4).
6. Warbird requires the use of the Shimano Di2 BT-DN110
internal seat post battery. The battery is stored inside the
seatpost. The battery wire will drop inside the seat tube
to the junction box below the bottom bracket. Make sure
to leave enough wire slack to remove the seatpost from the
frame. (Not shown in Figures.)
7. Once the wires are attached to the junction box, use a small
zip tie to secure the junction box to the bottom bracket shell
cover through the small slots on the cover so the wires and
box are neatly tucked inside the bottom bracket shell (Fig. 4).
8. Reinstall the M3 bottom bracket shell cover bolts and tighten
to 1 Nm.
Care & Maintenance
Keep your frame clean. Dirt and road grime lead to oxidation
and fading of the finish, and they make it hard to do a thorough
inspection. Dirt will accelerate any abrasion of the paint that
comes from rubbing, such as places where the cable housing
touches the frame. In extreme cases, this type of abrasion could
remove frame material. When your bicycle is not being ridden,
store it where it will be protected from rain, snow, sun, etc.
Rain or snow may cause the metal on your frame to corrode.
If your bicycle was exposed to moisture during a ride, thoroughly
dry the bicycle before storing it. If water got inside the frame, tilt
the bicycle to drain the water. If necessary, remove the seatpost
and turn the bicycle upside down. This is especially critical if there
is a large amount of water inside. If water freezes inside your
frame, the expansion of the ice can crack and rupture the structure.
Before storing your bicycle for an extended period of time, clean
and lubricate the frame with a frame wax, polish, or protectant.
Do not store the bicycle near electric motors, as ozone from
motors destroys paint. Before riding the bicycle again, follow the
pre-ride checklist to be certain it is in good working order.
Inspection
Before every ride carefully inspect your frame for signs of fatigue.
If any frame part shows signs of damage or fatigue, consult your
dealer or replace the frame before riding the bicycle.
WARNING: An improperly modified frame, fork, or component
can cause you to lose control and fall. NEVER MODIFY YOUR
FRAMESET.
WARNING: Attaching incompatible clamping devices to a fork
can lead to fork breakage, causing a loss of control. If you are not
sure if a device is compatible, consult your dealer.
SERIAL NUMBER:______________________________
Get a pen and write down the serial number of your Salsa
immediately. The number is stamped into the bottom of the
bottom bracket shell. Having this number is imperative if your
bike ever gets stolen or if you ever have questions about your
frame…we are constantly improving our products and sometimes
the serial number is the only way to tell one generation of product
from another.
