Precautions When Displaying a Still Image
A still image may cause permanent damage to the TV screen.
• Digital Ready TV: When you
select the regular screen (4:3)
mode to atch an SD-grade
digital broadcast (and the set-top
box output is 480p).
Although digital broadcasting must be in the
ide screen (16:9) HD format, broadcasters
sometimes sho programs made originally
in the regular screen format (4:3) by
converting the signals into digital form, in
hich case the left and right side edges of
the screen are cropped.
Do not leave the screen in pause mode for
extended periods of time as you may
experience temporary or permanent image
burn.
Note : If the borders at the left, right and the
center of the screen remain fixed for
an extended period of time, the
amount of light transmission will also
remain varied and as a result the
borders may leave traces.
• Digital Ready TV: When you
select the ide screen (16:9)
mode to atch an SD-grade
digital broadcast (and the set-top
box output is 1080i).
• Digital Ready TV: When the
TV receives HD-grade signals
(and the set-top box output is 1080i).
When you atch a digital HD-grade broadcast
on a regular (4:3) TV ith the screen size
"16:9" or "Panorama" selected, you ill be
able to atch the program but the top and
bottom edges of the screen ill be cropped.

Viewing the Control Panel
SOURCE
Displays a menu of all of the available
input sources (TV, Ext.1, Ext.2, AV3,
S-Video, omponent, HDMI, DVI, P ).
You can also use the SOUR E button
on the TV’s control panel to make selection.
MENU
Press to see an on-screen menu of
your TV’s features.
- +
Press to decrease or increasethe volume.
Also used to select items on the
on-screen menu.
C/P.
Press to change channels.
Also press to highlight various items
on the on-screen menu.
(Without the Remote ontrol, You can
turn on TV by using the hannel buttons.)
(Power)
Press to turn the TV on and off.
Light Detecting Sensor
Adjusts the brightness of the screen automatically
by detecting brightness of the surrounding
environment.
This sensor works when the Brightness Sensor is on.
Remote Control Sensor
Aims the remote control towards this spot
on the TV.
Power Indicator
Light red when you turn the power off.
When you turn the power off after selecting On/Off
Timer, green light will appear.

Whenever you connect an audio or video system to your set, ensure that all elements are
switched off.
Connecting an Aerial or Cable Television Network
To view television channels correctly, a signal must be received by the set from one of the following sources:
- An outdoor aerial
- A cable television network
- A satellite network
Connecting Set-Top Box, VCR or DVD
- onnect the V R or DVD S ART cable to the S ART connector of the V R or DVD.
- If you wish to connect both the Set-Top Box and V R (or DVD), you should connect the Set-Top Box
to the V R (or DVD) and connect the V R (or DVD) to your set.

Connecting External A V Devices
- onnect R A or S-VIDEO cable to an appropriate external A/V device such as V R, DVD or amcorder.
- onnect R A audio cables to “
AUDIO(L) ” and “ AUDIO(R) ” on the rear of your set and the other ends to
corresponding audio out connectors on the A/V device.
- Headphone may be connected to the headphone output ( ) on the rear of your set. While the headphone
is connected, the sound from the built-in speakers will be disabled.
Connecting Component Devices (DTV DVD)
- onnect component video cables to component connector (“Y”,“PB”,“PR”) on the rear of your set and the
other ends to corresponding component video out connectors on the DTV or DVD.
- If you wish to connect both the Set-Top Box and DTV (or DVD), you should connect the Set-Top Box to the
DTV (or DVD) and connect the DTV (or DVD) to component connector
(“Y”,“PB”,“PR”) on your set.
- The Y, Pb and Pr connectors on your component devices (DTV or DVD) are sometimes labeled Y, B-Y and
R-Y or Y, b and r.
- onnect R A audio cables to “
AUDIO(L) ” and “ AUDIO(R) ” on the rear of your set and the other ends to
corresponding audio out connectors on the DTV or DVD.

Connecting Computer
- onnect the D- Sub cable to “PC (PC IN)” on the rear of your set.
- onnect the stereo audio cable to “AUDIO (PC IN)” on the rear of your set and the other end to
“Audio Out” of the sound card on your computer.
Connecting DVI
- onnect the DVI connector to the DVD connector.
- onnect the stereo audio cable to “L - Audio - R” on the rear of your set and the other end to
“Audio Out” of the sound card on your DVD.
- DVI dose not support P function.
Connecting Sub Woofer
Connecting HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface)
Supports connections between HDMI-connection-enabled AV devices (set top boxes, DVD players, AV
receivers and digital TVs).
What is HDMI?
- HDMI , or high-definition multimedia interface, is a next-generation interface that enables the
transmission of digital audio and video signals using a single cable without compression.
-“
Multimedia interface ” is a more accurate name for it especially because it allows multiple channels of
digital audio (5.1 channels).The difference between
HDMI and DVI is that the HDMI device is smaller
in size, has the
HDCP coding feature installed, and supports multi - channel digital audio.

The performance of the remote control may be affected by bright light.
You can use the remote control up to a distance of about 23 feet from the TV.
When using the remote, always point it directly at the TV. You can also use your
remote control to operate your V R, able box, DVD player or Samsung Set-Top box.

Installing Batteries in the Remote Control
1Slide the cover out completely.
2Install two AAA size batteries.
Make sure to match the “+” and “–” ends of the batteries with
the diagram inside the compartment.
3Replace the cover.
Remove the batteries and store them in a cool, dry place
if you won’t be using the remote control for a long time.
The remote control can be used up to about 23 feet from the TV.
(Assuming typical TV usage, the batteries last for about one year.)
The remote control doesn’t work!
heck the following:
1. Is the TV power on?
2. Are the plus and minus ends of the batteries reversed?
3. Are the batteries drained?
4. Is there a power outage, or is the power cord unplugged?
5. Is there a special fluorescent light or a neon sign nearby?

Switching On and Off
Placing Your Television in Standb Mode
Your set can be placed in Standby mode, in order to reduce the power
consumption. The Standby mode can be useful when you wish to
interrupt viewing temporarily (during a meal, for example).
1Press the POWER ( ) button on the remote control.
Result:
The screen is turned off and a red standby indicator
appears on the front of your set.
2To switch your set back on, simply press the POWER ( ), numeric
buttons (0~9) or channel up/down ( / ) button again.
Do not leave your set in Standby mode for long periods of time
(when you are away on holiday, for example).
It is best to unplug the set from the mains and aerial.
The mains lead is attached to the rear of your set.
If you have purchased this set in the United Kingdom,
refer to page 61 for further instructions on plug wiring.
1Plug the mains lead into an appropriate socket.
Result: The main voltage is indicated on the rear of your set and
the frequency is 50 or 60Hz.
2Press the POWER ( ) button on the right-side of your set.
Result: The standby indicator light up on the front panel.
3 Press the numeric button (0~9) or channel up/down ( / ) button
on the remote control or C/P. button on
the
right-side of your set.
Result: The programme that you were watching last is reselected
automatically.
When you switch the set on for the very first time, you will be
asked to choose language in which the menus are to be
displayed (see page 14).
4To switch your set off, press the POWER ( ) button again.

Becoming Familiar with the Remote Control
The remote control is used mainly to:
Change channels and adjust the volume
Set up your set using the on-screen menu system
The following table presents the most frequently used buttons and
their functions.

When the set is initially powered ON, several basic customer settings
proceed automatically and subsequently.
The following settings are available.
1If the set is in standby mode, press the POWER ( ) button on the
remote control.

2Select the appropriate Language by pressing the or button.

Choosing Your Language
When you start using your set for the first time, you must select the
language which will be used for displaying menus and indications.
1Press the MENU button.

4Press the or button to select Language .
Press the ENTER button .
Result: The available languages are listed.
5Select a particular language by pressing the or button

6When you are satisfied with your choice, press the EXIT button to
return to normal viewing.

Storing Channels Automaticall
You can scan for the frequency ranges available to you (and availability
depends on your country). Automatically allocated programme numbers
may not correspond to actual or desired programme numbers. However
you can sort numbers manually and clear any channels you do not wish
to watch.
1Press the MENU button.
Result:
The main menu is displayed.
2Press the or button to select Channel .
Result: The options available in the
Channel group are
displayed.
3Press the ENTER button .
Result: The Country is selected.
4Press the ENTER button again . Select your Country
by pressing the or button repeatedly.
Result: The following countries are available:

5Press the ENTER button .
6Press the or button to select Auto Store .
Press the

Result: The Start is selected.

The sub menu is changed from
Start to Stop with channel search

Result: The search will end automatically. hannels are sorted
and stored in an order which reflects their position in the
frequency range (with lowest first and highest last).
The programme originally selected is then displayed.
To return to the previous menu, press the
MENU button.
To stop the search before it has finished, press the
ENTER button with stop selected.
8When the channels have been stored, you can:
Sort them in the order required (refer to page 19)
Assign a name to the stored channels (refer to page 20)
Add or delete the channels (refer to page 18)
Fine tune channel reception if necessary (refer to page 21)
Activate the LNA (Low Noise Amplifier) feature (refer to page 22)

You can store up to 100 channels, including those received via cable
networks. When storing channels manually, you can choose:
Whether or not to store each of the channels found
The programme number of each stored channel which you
wish to identify
1Press the MENU button.

To assign a programme number to a channel, find the correct
number by pressing the or button and then press the
ENTER button .
6Press the or button to select Colour System and then
press the
ENTER button.

Colour System required by pressing the or
button repeatedly and then press the
ENTER button.
Result: The colour standards are displayed in the following order:
AUTO - PAL - SECAM - NT4.43
7Press the or button to select Sound System and then
press the
ENTER button.
Select the sound standard required by pressing the or
button repeatedly and then press the
ENTER button.
Result: The sound standards are displayed in the following order:
B - DK - I - L
8For all the channels to move to the required channel numbers,
repeat steps
5 to 7 after selecting Programme by pressing
or button

9If you know the number of the channel to be stored....
Press the or button to select Channel and then
press the
ENTER button.
Select C(Air channel) or S( able channel) by pressing the
or button.
Press the button to select hannel.
Select the required number by pressing the or button and
then press the
ENTER button.
If there is abnormal sound or no sound, re-select the sound
system required.
10 If you do not know the channel numbers, press the or button
to select
Search and then press the ENTER button.
Search by pressing or button and then press the ENTER
button.
Result: The tuner scans the frequency range until the first
channel or the channel that you selected is received
on your screen.
11 Press the or button to select Store and then press the
ENTER button.
Select
Yes by pressing the or button and then press the
ENTER button.
Result: The channel and associated programme number are
stored.
12 Repeat Steps 9 to 11 for each channel to be stored.
Channel mode
P(Programme mode): When tuning is completed, the
broadcasting stations in your area will have been assigned to
position numbers from P00 to P99. You can select a channel by
entering the position number in this mode.
C (Real channel mode): You can select a channel by entering
the assigned number to each broadcast station in this mode.
S ( able channel mode): You can select a channel by entering
the assigned number to each cable channel in this mode.

You can exclude the channels you chosen from the channels you
scanned. When you scan through the stored channels, those you have
chosen to skip are not displayed.
All channels that you do not specifically choose to skip are displayed
during scanning.
1Press the MENU button.
Result:
The main menu is displayed.
2Press the or button to select Channel .
Press the
ENTER button .
Result: The options available in the Channel group are
displayed.
3Press the or button to select Add/Delete .
Press the ENTER button.
Result:
The state of current channel is displayed.
4Press the / button to select Channel that you wish to
Add or Delete .
Result:
If the channel that you wish to edit is not in memory, the
Add is selected and displayed.
Otherwise, if the channel that you wish to edit is in
memory, the Delete is selected and displayed.
5Press the ENTER button to Add or Delete channel.
6To return to the previous menu, press the MENU button.
7Repeat Step 4 and 6 for each channel to be added or deleted.
