Read these instructions before use and keep them safe. If you pass the appliance
on, pass on the instructions too. Remove all packaging, but keep it until you are
satisfied.
Important Safeguards
Before connecting the appliance check that the voltage indicated on the type plate
corresponds to the mains voltage in your country.
When using electrical appliances basic safety precautions should always be followed.
Please read the following carefully before use:
1. Always unplug the appliance immediately after use.
2. Do not use while in the bath.
3. Do not use with wet hands.
4. Do not allow the appliance to be placed or dropped into water or any other liquid.
5. Do not reach for an appliance that has fallen into water. Turn off the power supply
to the appliance and then unplug from the wall socket.
6. Do not leave the appliance unattended when it is switched on.
7. Always allow the appliance to cool down before packing away.
8. Close supervision is necessary when this appliance is used by, on, or near
children or invalids.
9. The appliance should be used for its intended purpose only.
10.Never use attachments not recommended or sold by the appliance manufacturer.
11.Keep the cord away from heated surfaces.
12.Check the cord regularly for wear or damage, particularly where the cord enters
the appliance and the plug.
13.Never operate this appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is not working
properly, if it has been dropped or damaged, or dropped into water. Call the
Consumer Service Centre for examination and repair.
14.Do not wrap the power cord around the appliance, straighten after use.
15.Take special care when using near children or anyone who is sensitive to heat.
16.Keep the air intake cover free of dust or fluff.
17.During use the rollers may become very hot, be careful when handling them so
as to avoid burning yourself.
18.When the appliance is turned on the posts may become very hot, avoid touching
these as they could burn you.
19.Do not use the appliance within 1 meter of any other electrical or electronic
appliance (e.g. TV, computer...) as it may cause interference.
20.The installation of a residual current operated protective device with a nominal
trip current of 30mA offers additional protection. Contact your electrician.
Household use only
Additional Safeguards
1. Do not try to repair the appliance yourself. Contact the approved Service Centre
for examination and repair.
2. When operating, do not hold the appliance by the AC power cord.
3. Avoid contact with HOT attachments as they may burn the skin with which it
comes into contact.

4. If the electrical circuit is overloaded with other electrical appliances, your Carmen
Silk Curls 20’s may not operate properly. It should then be operated on a
separate circuit from other appliances.

Using Your Carmen Silk Curls 20’s
1. Plug the appliance into the electrical outlet.
2. Place all the rollers correctly into the stand.
3. Close the lid.
4. Switch the appliance on. The red indicator light should be illuminated bright red.
5. When the rollers are the correct temperature for use, indicator light will no longer
be illuminated.
6. Your hair must be dry when using the curlers.
7. Take a section of hair, comb it straight and place around the roller working from
the ends of the hair towards the roots. The section of hair should not be wider
than the roller.
8. Choose the size of the roller by considering the length of hair to be curled and the
size of the curl you wish to make.
9. For a traditional curl roll under and for a flip-up style, roll over.
10.Hold the rollers in place with the clips.
11.Repeat the remaining sections as described above.

12.Leave the rollers in your hair until they have completely cooled.
13.Remove the clips and rollers working from the base of the neck upwards.
14.Once your hair has completely cooled down, style with your fingers. Do not use a
brush.
15.To maintain the style you may use mousse, styling gel, wax or spray.
- For fine hair, apply mousse or volumising spray to damp or dry hair before
setting.
- For thick hair apply styling gel.
- When using hairspray, lift the hair up and spray underneath. Spraying on
top will way down your curls.
N.B.: ▪Use on dry hair only.
▪Do not use on artificial hair.
Care and Maintenance
1. Switch the appliance off, unplug it and let it cool down.
2. Wipe the body of the appliance with a soft damp cloth. If necessary use a little
washing-up liquid.
3. Remove deposits from the rollers, posts and tray, by brushing with a soft brush or
cloth.
4. Do not immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid.
5. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents or solvents.
After Sales Service
The appliance is not user-serviceable. If it is not working properly check:
1. You have followed the instructions properly.
2. The outlet supply is switched on.
3. The main supply fuse/circuit breaker has not blown/tripped.

Guarantee
Any defect affecting the functionality of the appliance which becomes apparent within
one (1) year of its purchase, will be corrected by free repair or replacement, provided
that the appliance has been used and maintained in accordance with the instructions,
and has not been altered, abused or misused in anyway, and is accompanied with a
Proof of Purchase to validate the age of the appliance.
