INSTRUCTION MANUAL FOR CMS-2
POWERING
This microphone is designed to be driven by 48V phantom power only.
ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS FOR USE AND STORAGE
The microphone should be stored only in temperatures between 0˚ and
40˚ C (32˚-104˚ F), and humidity between 0% and 80%.
Do not store or use this microphone in dusty environments.
Do not store where there is high humidity or excess moisture.
Do not store in situations with strong vibrations or constant shaking.
MAINTENANCE
Wipe only with a soft cloth.
Do not use thinners or benzene.
Use a neutral detergent and clean with a dry, soft cloth.
HOW TO CONNECT
The SC-53 output cable separates the outputs to M ch and S ch.
Connection to Mixer incorporating MS Decoder
(For example: YAMAHA PM5D)
For more information visit sankenchromatic.com
Connection to a Mixer not using an MS Decoder
DIRECTION
The front of the mic is shown with the logo. If
the CMS-2 is suspended from the ceiling, and
the microphone head (metal mesh) is aimed
downward, the L and R channels will be
reversed.
THE MICROPHONE HOLDER
(1) Remove attachment “A” with a
coin
(2) Tighten with the “B” or “C”
attachment screw on the
microphone holder, to avoid it from
accidentally being dislodged.
Connection using Optional Matrix Converter MB-2D
• To derive the left and right
channel outputs from M-S
coincident microphone
sources, refer to the following
equations:
L ch : Sum of M and S
R ch : Difference between
M and S
• By connecting the outputs to
the mixer as shown, both M
and S signals can be decoded
as L ch. and R ch. The angle between L and R can also be varied by the
adjustment of the S ch. fader volume. When levels of M and S are the same,
the stereophonic angle is 127°.
