1. 3 INSTALLATION
a) Recommendations
The use of the Suprasson P5 BOOSTER is restricted
to competent and qualified practitioners (dental
surgeons, hygienists).
Note: before using for the first time, clean,
decontaminate and sterilize the accessories.
Before using the unit for the first time you are
recommended to plug in the accessories and
operate the spray for several minutes in order to
rinse the equipment's internal water circuits.
Check that the equipment is correctly plugged in
and insulated; the mains plug with earth pin must
be used.
The user must check the accessories and cords
regularly for insulation faults and replace them if
necessary.
Do not use the equipment if it appears to be
faulty.
If the equipment develops a fault you are
recommended to contact the supplier of your
Suprasson P5 BOOSTER rather than using a non-
specialist repairer.
b) Connections
The electrical connexion must conform to current
norms.
Rear panel of Suprasson P5 BOOSTER (Fig. 2)
Connect:
• The flexible green water tube (Fig. 2-1) to the
mains water supply.
• The mains power cable should be plugged into
a earthed power supply (according to country).
c) Commissioning and use
Connecting the Suprasson handpiece.
Connecting the handpiece to the cable connector
is by a simple push fit. Do not twist.
Mounting and using the tips
To obtain adequate vibration of a tip it must be
correctly tightened and not forced beyond its
stop. To avoid it becoming locked, the tip should
be removed after each use (Fig. 3).
See the TipBook for the power settings for
SATELEC tips.
d) WARNING
It is essential to turn off the water supply
before leaving the dental surgery.

II - MAINTENANCE AND
STERILIZATION
The following instructions for maintenance
and/or sterilization must be carried out before
first using the handpiece or the tips and files
supplied with the device.
Avoid using cleaning and disinfectant agents
containing inflammable components. If used,
ensure that the agent has evaporated and that
there is no trace of inflammable substances on
the equipment and its accessories before using
them.
2. 1 MAINTENANCE OF THE SUPRASSON
HANDPIECE
Warning: the water circuits for the complete
Suprasson handpiece and tip should be rinsed
with water for 20 to 30 secs after each use.
2. 2 FILES MAINTENANCE
a) When is a tip no longer usable?
The shape and mass of a tip are the determining
factors in obtaining maximum effect from the
ultrasound generator. Vigilance on the part of the
user regarding these two characteristics will
enable optimum performance of the device to be
maintained.
It is consequently strongly advised not to alter
the structure of tips by filing or twisting them.
Also, ageing of a tip due to normal wear leads to
a change in its properties.
Always be sure to replace tips subject to
deterioration due to wear or accidental impact
(fall, etc.).
b) Sterilization of tips
Tips should be cleaned before sterilization
using a cotton swab and alcohol, wipes or by
immersion in an ultrasonic bath.
Tips can be sterilized by any conventional heat
method.
Conditions and sterilization cycles are
determined by the equipment:
Equipment: autoclave.
Wet heat sterilization - unwrapped instrument
134°C at 2 bar (200 kPa) for 18 min.
During sterilization, metal parts of different
types must not touch each other. Any contact
will lead to the formation of electrolytic
couples causing localized deterioration. In
order to avoid this phenomenon, place the
objects to be sterilized in a cloth or sterilizing
bag.
2. 3 REPLACING AND CLEANING THE WATER
FILTER
The water filter should be cleaned periodically
and replaced every 6 months.
• Shut off the water supply (Fig. 4-1).
• Switch the instrument to "O" then disconnect it.
• Unscrew the 2 filter elements using two 10mm
open-end spanners (Fig. 4-2).
• Remove the cartridge to replace the filter
(Fig. 4-3) or to clean it under running water
(Fig. 4-4). Use the same procedure for the
sealing gasket.
8

• Screw the 2 filter elements together again using
the two 10mm open-end spanners (Fig. 4-5).
• Switch on the water supply and connect the
device (4-6), then check for correct spray
operation and the absence of leaks (Fig. 4-7).
Caution: a worn or clogged filter cartridge
should be replaced.
2. 4 MAINTENANCE OF THE DEVICE
The housing of the Suprasson P5 BOOSTER as well as
the handpiece cord should be cleaned and
disinfected (use alcohol and/or disinfectant
dental wipes) (Fig. 5).
The Suprasson P5 BOOSTER requires no preventive
maintenance.
2. 5 DISPOSAL AND RECYCLING
Disposal of the equipment and its accessories
should be carried out by a collection centre for
electronic equipment or by returning them to
SATELEC's After Sales Service. In no case should
the device and its accessories be disposed of by
the user.
Tips which have reached the end of their useful
life should be disposed of in safety containers
designed for this purpose
