The control and feedback link must have the proper identification in order to be installed. Installing a control with an improper

Merely changing the swashplate drag link is inadequate. See Ordering Information for the necessary link-and-ball assembly
number. In no case should a valve originally built for a Series 2X pump be used on a Series 3X pump.

PUMP NEUTRAL ADJUSTMENT
WARNING
Usethefollowingproceduretobringthepumptoneutralonce
the Electrical Displacement Control has been mounted.
1. Install a 300 psi gauge into the charge pressure port on
the pump.
2. Using a 9/16-inch wrench, loosen the hex lock nut on
the null adjustment screw. See Dimension drawing.
3. Disconnect the electrical line at the connector.
4. Start the prime mover and run at low idle.
5. Slowly increase the prime mover speed to rated RPM.
6. If the transmission operates as shown by motor shaft
rotation,reducespeedto idle.Usinga 3/16-inchinternal

necessary safety precautions such as having unneces-

system pressure may occur upon start up, and the
machine may move. Ensure that the operator is not in a
position to be injured should the machine move.
This model EDC is considered standard; it does not offer high response, pressure override, or servo ports.
1. Note, that all new EDCs are linkless, and therefore an installation kit is required for assembly. The installation kits
(ordered separately) provide the necessary hardware such as link, O-rings, gasket, etc. Kits include two control port
orifices, if installed pump response will reduce to one third original response. To ensure using the correct feedback link,
check the pump series which is stamped on the link.
2. Install one gasket and three O-rings between the EDC and the pump housing. If the pump is either a Series 20 or 26, an
additional set of gasket and O-rings is required because of the spacer which is installed between the EDC and pump.
Spacer thickness is 1/4 inch for Series 20 and 1 1/4 inch for Series 26.
3. Engage the feedback pin on the EDC in the pump drag link and swing the control into place against the pump housing.
The drag link should be on the cylinder block side of the swashplate. Install the seven mounting screws and tighten to
10 -11 ft·lb of torque.
hex wrench, slowly turn the null adjustment screw
clockwise or counterclockwise until the transmission
does not operate. Repeat Step 5. Note that charge
pressureshoulddropapproximately20psiwithforward
or reverse stroking of the pumpswashplate due to the
shifting of the shuttle valve in the motor manifold.
7. With a 3/16-inch internal hex wrench, slowly turn the
null adjustment screw clockwise until charge pressure
begins to decrease. Then slowly turn the adjustment
screw counterclockwise, observing the angle of
rotation,untilchargepressuredecreasesagain(charge
pressure will rise in neutral and drop when going into
stroke).
8. Turn the adjustment screw clockwise half the amount

lock nut on the adjustment screw to 14 - 18 ft·lb. Note
thatif a motorisused which does nothaveamanifold,
neutral should be adjusted (Steps 8 -10) by observing
the motor shaft rotation without a load.
10. Stopthe prime mover, andreconnect the electrical line.
11. Reconnect the electrical line.
