5. Blueprint Configuration
Service Configuration
By default, the SUR-0500 will see all services available within the system. The remote can be configured
to hide services in particular rooms from appearing on the remote.
NOTE:
Before performing these steps, review the Supported Services list to determine if the service is available
or if the use is limited.
5. Create the Blueprint configurations adding all sources, switches, controllers, hosts, end points, and
control UIs. Do not add the SUR-0500.
6. Configure any customization to devices such as lighting and HVAC.
7. Generate services for the configuration.
8. Select the room the SUR-0500 will be used in the Services For drop-down menu.
9. Uncheck the Show column for any services that are not to be controlled by the SUR-0500.
NOTE:
Any service that is unchecked in the show column will not appear on the SUR-0500 or iOS devices for
that zone.
IMPORTANT!
If the Show column is unchecked on all services, a blank screen will appear on the remote.
10. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the remaining rooms in the configuration.
Custom Workflows
Custom workflows can be used by the SUR-0500 and must be under General Programmable Service
Requests for each zone that will use the workflow.
Example: A workflow created in the Kitchen will not be available to the Living Room unless it is also listed
under General Programmable Service Requests in the Living Room.

2. Generate services for the configuration.
3. Select the HVAC component in the configuration and open the Inspector:
View > Show Inspector
4. Open the data table by clicking the Show Data Table button at the bottom of the Inspector window.
5. Check the box under each function for the zone.
NOTE: All the boxes under each function that can be selected must be checked.
6. Repeat step 5 for the remaining zones and click Done to save the changes.

Appendix B: Network Requirements
Savant requires the use of business class/commercial grade network equipment throughout the network
to ensure the reliability of communication between devices. These higher quality components also allow
for more accurate troubleshooting when needed.
Connect all Savant devices to the same local area network (LAN) or subnet as the host. Savant
recommends not implementing any type of traffic or packet shaping in your network topology for the
Savant devices as this may interfere with performance.
Network Configuration
To ensure that the IP Address will not change due to a power outage, a static IP Address or DHCP
reservation should be configured. Savant recommends using DHCP reservation within the router. By
using this method, static IP Addresses for all devices can be managed from a single UI avoiding the need
to access devices individually.
Setting DHCP reservation varies from router to router. Refer to the documentation for the router to
configure DHCP reservation.

•SCR 43031 - Thermostats that are added to a HomeworksQS data table would appear as a lighting zone
and would not appear under HVAC. This has been resolved and all thermostats that are added to a
HomeworksQS data table will appear under HVAC and not lighting.
SUR OS 1.1.30/App 7.0.1 December 2014
Note:
This release can be used with da Vinci 5.2.2 or higher. da Vinci 7.0.1 is not required to use this release.
Software Update Files
Updates for the SUR-0500 are downloaded and installed through the User Interface (UI) on the remote.
See Update Firmware for the steps to update the remote.
Resolved Issues
The following issues have been resolved in this SUR-0500 release.
•SCR41642 - Dimmer level slider would jump to the highest percentage after being lowered while
controlling a Lutron RadioRA dimmer. This has been resolved and the dimmer will function normally
when controlling a Lutron RadioRA dimmer.
•SCR41809 - The SUR-0500 would not control a Lutron HomeworksQS system even when it could be
controlled via an iOS device using TrueControl. This has been resolved and the SUR-0500 will be able to
control a Lutron HomeworksQS system.
•SCR42566 - Zones that have been configured to be hidden would still appear in the zone list on the
SUR-0500 after unchecking Show in the Review Services dialog. This has been resolved and any zone
where Show is unchecked will no longer appear in the SUR-0500 available zone list.
•SCR43562 - HVAC, Lighting, or Shade screen would not appear when selected in some of the zones in
the system. This would occur when the HVAC, Lighting, or Shade controller is a single component and
zones do not contain one of the three services. This has been resolved and all services will be selectable
in all zones.
