The Savant™ Universal Remote (SUR-0500), with charging base, is a Wi-Fi® - enabled, hand-held
remote with popular push buttons to control everything from climate and lighting to distributed
audio and whole-house or facility automation.

Required System Components

IMPORTANT! Before using the SUR-0500 for the first time, update the firmware to the
latest version. Perform the steps outlined in Updating Firmware immediately after
Configuring the Wi-Fi Connection.
Configuring the Wi-Fi Connection
At first launch, or after the remote has been powered on, a welcome animation will play featuring
the Savant logo. In the background the device will be searching for Wi-Fi and connecting to the
the last known system, zone and service. The first time you power on the remote the not
connected to Wi-Fi message will appear.

The Wi-Fi screen displays all visible Wi-Fi networks with a connection strength for each one.

The Wi-Fi screen displays Other always at the bottom of the list. Other is a way users can join
a network that is not listed.
1. Select a network. If it is insecure—the remote will automatically connect.
2. Select either the left or right buttons for the row to perform this action.
While the remote is connecting it will replace the Wi-Fi strength with a connecting icon. After it is
connected, the Wi-Fi strength will be displayed from a Wi-Fi strength connected icon.
Updating Firmware
1. Navigate to the root. Keep pressing back until there are no further menus.
2. On the screen select Settings>Update.
3. A dialog screen appears indicating if an update is available. Select Update to download
and install the firmware.DO NOT power off the device during the update process.
4. There are several updates that may be available. Repeat steps 1 to 3 until the dialog
screen in step 3 states No updates have been found at this time.
