Operating the SUR
Global Function Buttons
A.Home Button
Press to view the list of available Services.
Press & Hold to return to the currently playing AV
Service.
B.Power Button
See Powering Off Services
C.Side Buttons
Press to select the Screen Item next to the button.
D.Bottom Buttons
Press to preform the Screen Action above the button.
Remote Status Icons
A.Current Location
DIsplays the name of the room currently controlled by
the remote.
B.Wi-Fi Signal
Displays the current level of the Wi-Fi signal.
C.Battery Level Indicator
Displays the charge level for the battery.
More green indicates more charge, and a charge
symbol will appear when docked.
Selecting Services
1. Press Home to display the list of available services.
2. Press the Center or Right bottom button until the
desired Service appears on the screen.
3. Press the Left or Right side button next to the desired
service.
Powering OffServices
1. Press the Power button to power off the currently
selected service.
Options to power offother rooms, services, or
components are also available.
See Power Options Menu for details.

1. Press & Hold the Power button until the options menu
appears.
2. Press the Center or Right bottom button until the
desired option appears on the screen.
3. Press the Left or Right side button next to the desired
option.
Available Options
• Power Off Room: Powers Off the Current Room
• Power Off Everything: Power Off all Rooms in the
system
• Active Rooms: List of Active Rooms in the system to
power Off
• Active Services: List of Active Services in Current Zone
to power Off
• Component Power: Power toggle for the currently used
component

• Sleep Timer: See Room Power Delay (Sleep)

Room Power Delay (Sleep)
1. Press the Lower Left or Lower Right side button to
adjust the sleep time.
2. Press the Left bottom button to set the sleep time.
Savant TrueCommand
1. Press the TrueCommand button under the navigation
pad.
2. Use the Navigation pad Left, and Right buttons to
navigate the TrueCommand OSD.
3. Press OK to select the desired action.
4. Press Exit to close the TrueCommand OSD.

Selects the item on the screen next to the associated
button. List view only (favorites, playlists, etc...)

Bottom Row Function
Performs the operation indicated on the bottom row of the
screen. Operation will vary from service to service, and on
list views.

Playback Controls
(Rewind, Play, Fast Forward, Previous, Pause, Next, and Stop)
Controls the playback of Recorded TV, Live TV (DVRs Only),
Local, and Streamed Content.

Live
Skips forward ## seconds when watching live TV on a DVR.

Record
Starts and Stops recording of Live TV when watching a
DVR.

Cable Box Functions
Cable TV Provider Functions

Audio Volume Control
(VOL +, VOL-, and Mute)
Controls the volume of the current service through the
preconfigured component.

Service OSD Navigation
(Up, Down, Left, Right, and OK)
Controls the direction of movement of the TrueCommand
OSD or the OSD of the currently selected service.

Channel Control
(CH+, CH-, and Last)
Controls the channels of TV tuners (Cable, Satellite, OffAir
TV)

TrueCommand OSDl
Toggles the Savant TrueCommand OSD On or Off

Menu
Opens the Menu of the component controlled during the
current service.

Favorites (FAV)
Displays the Favorite list for a cable box.

Exits the OSD or MENU for the currently selected service.

Jumps to the next or previous page of the OSD for the
currently selected service.

Displays the Guide for the currently selected service.

Accesses the recorded content menu for a cable service.

the list of services.

Temp in the list of options.

1. Press the Lower Left OLED side button until the Main
(Root) screen appears.
2. Press the Center or Right bottom button until Settings
appears on the screen.
3. Press the Left or Right side button next to Settings in
the list of options.

appears on the screen.

available Wi-Fi networks.

Network in the list of options.
Note: If the network is not protected by a password,
connection will take place after selecting the name. In
this case, the next step will not be required.

Entering Network Password
1. Press the Lower Left or Lower Right OLED side
buttons until the desired character appears above the
center pointer.
2. Press the Top Left side button to capitalize the
character if needed.
3. Press the Center bottom button to save the character,
and move to the next blank.
4. If a character was saved in error:
Press the Center side buttons to move the cursor after
the character.
Press the Top Right side button to delete the character.
5. Press the Right bottom button to save the password.

Updating Remote Firmware
IMPORTANT! Before performing the update steps, place
the remote in the dock to ensure that the remote will not
shut down during the update process.
1. Press the Lower Left OLED side button until the Main
(Root) screen appears.
2. Press the Center or Right bottom button until Settings
appears on the screen.
3. Press the Left or Right side button next to Settings in
the list of options.

appears on the screen.
5. Press the Left or Right side button next to Update in
the list of options.

6. If an update is available, the update type will be shown
on the screen. Select Update to download and install.
NOTE! The remote will reboot after the update is installed,
and will be inactive for several minutes before the start
screen animation appears.
IMPORTANT! After the update has finished the remote
may be inoperative (blank screen). This is normal, and is
remedied by rebooting the remote.
See Rebooting the Remote for details.

7. Several updates may be available, repeat steps 1 to 6
until the No Updates Were Found At This Time message
appears.
Press the Lower Left OLED side button to return to the
previous screen.

Resetting the Remote
1. Press the Lower Left OLED side button until the Main
(Root) screen appears.
2. Press the Center or Right bottom button until Settings
appears on the screen.
3. Press the Left or Right side button next to Settings in
the list of options.

Maintenance Operations
Rebooting the Remote
1. Press & Hold the Home and Power button for 10
seconds.
2. After the remote powers Off, place the remote on the
dock to power On the remote.
