INTRODUCTION
Dear owner,
we congratulate you on buying for your new Beauty
Tens SC 208. Thank you for deciding for this product.
We recommend that you read these operating
instructions before using the device for the first time.
We are sure you have heard and read a lot about
beauty and wellness. Ever more people are
becoming aware of how beautiful the human body
can be. Many of them spend a lot of money to
remain in good health, maintain their body weight,
have more energy and just feel well.
Beauty Tens has been developed for your beauty
and wellness activities. You can use the instrument
successfully for body styling, body slimming and
body tightening.
We wish you much success and lots of fun with your
new training partner, Beauty Tens SC 208.

Features of the Device
• The Beauty Tens SC 208 has a digital operation dis-
play system (DODS). The display shows the current
treatment mode while your are using the device.
• You have 7 different programs and 7 intensity levels
at your disposal for your personal training program.
• The selected training program can be set to different
duration, i.e., 15, 30 or 60 minutes. And the setting
will not be lost when you switch off the device
(memory function).
• IYour Beauty Tens SC 208 is a compact, battery-
powered device which you can also use during
training (the electrodes placed under your clothes).

INTENDED USE OF THE DEVICE
Explanation of T.E.N.S.
•
The method which your
device uses is widely
applied in pain therapy
and the areas of fitness,
wellness and beauty
care.
•
The Beauty Tens SC 208
is designed to stimulate
in particular the passive
activity of the muscula-
ture by causing muscle
contraction. This gives
you a soft sensation of
well-being and relax-
ation. The contraction
and relaxation of the muscles improves your blood
circulation. More blood is transported to the heart
and the muscles exercised by the electrical pulses.
The improved metabolism of the muscles burns
extra calories and eliminates spent material. The
body styling improves because excess fat
gradually disappears, your body gets a healthier
shape and the musculature is tightened. Your
whole body improves.
• The Beauty Tens device has 7 programs and 7
intensity levels. The different electrical pulses can
cause different reactions, from a soft sensation on
the skin to large muscle contractions.
• Each setting is designed to have a different effect,
and it is recommended that users experiment to find
out the most effective setting. The Beauty Tens
supports your training objectives without any side
effects.

Instructions before using the device:
• Read the operating instructions carefully before
using the Beauty Tens device for the first time.
• Do not use the device or use it only after consulting
your doctor in any of the following cases:
- patients with heart disease and/or cardiac pace-
maker (cardiac implants)
- during pregnancy
- in case of an allergy
- in case of broken or nailed bones
• If due to the treatment your skin incurs irritation,
make sure that the treatment is stopped and the
electrodes are removed until the cause of the
irritation is diagnosed.
Note: The electrodes must always be completely
clean and the skin must be thoroughly dry.
• Avoid adjusting controls while operating machinery
or a vehicle.
• Always turn the device off before applying or
removing electrodes.
• The device does not have explosion protection. Do
not use it in the presence of explosive or flammable
material.
• Do not place electrodes on the head or the front of
the throat. This may result in spasms of the laryngeal
and pharyngeal muscles.
• Keep the device out of reach for children.

Installing/removing the batteries
Your Beauty Tens device includes 3 x 1.5 batteries. If
the low battery indication appears on the LCD
display or the device does not function at all,
replace the batteries without delay.
• Remove the battery
compartment cover. Press
the marked spot (Fig. 3) and
slide the cover down.
• Remove the old batteries
from the battery com-
partment and install new
ones. Note the correct
polarity of the batteries (see
information inside the battery compartment).
Caution: There is a risk of explosion if the batteries
are fitted incorrectly. Do not dispose of exhausted
batteries in a fire and keep them out of reach of
children. Return the exhausted batteries to an official
collection point.
If you use rechargeable batteries, please be sure to
follow these instructions:
Rechargeable batteries
Prior to installation in the device, the rechargeable
battery should be charged to the battery
manufacturer's instructions.

HOW TO PREPARE THE SKIN
To avoid skin irritation, especially if you have sensitive
skin, follow these suggestions:
• Wash the area of the skin where you will place the
electrodes using mild soap and water before
applying electrodes and after taking them off. Be sure
to rinse off the soap thoroughly and dry the skin well.
• Excess hair may be clipped with scissors. Do not shave
the stimulation area.
• Follow the suggestions of your physician for preparing
the skin.
• Many skin problems arise from the pulling stress of
adhesive patches that are excessively stretched
across the skin during application. To prevent this,
apply the electrodes from the centres outward. Avoid
stretching over the skin.
• To minimise pulling stress, lay out the extra lengths of
electrode lead wire in a loop to prevent tugging on
the electrodes.
• When removing electrodes, always remove by pulling
in the direction of hair growth.
• It may be helpful to rub skin lotion on the electrode
placement areas when not wearing electrodes.
• Never apply electrodes to irritated or broken skin.

THE ELECTRODES
The electrodes are the flexible pads which are
placed against the skin and connected to the
device by thin wires which carry the current from the
device to the pads. The current then travels through
the skin into the nerves.
Basically there are two types of electrodes:
• Rubber electrodes to which conductive gel is
applied and which are held in appropriate place
with adhesive tape, e.g., micropore.
•
Self-adhesive electrodes which are pre-coated with
an adhesive gel which conducts electricity. The
device is delivered with 4 self-adhesive electrodes
when you buy it.
How to apply the self-adhesive electrodes
• Clean and dry the skin thoroughly in the area you
want to treat with soap and water prior to application
of the electrodes.
•
Insert the lead wires into the plug connectors on
the pre-wired electrodes and also into the
electrode jack on the device (Fig. 6).
• Remove the protective liner from the electrode and
apply the electrode firmly to the treatment area.
• Switch off the device, remove the electrodes and
place them on the electrode paper after the
treatment.
How to remove the self-adhesive electrodes
• Lift the electrode edge and
peel. Do not pull on the lead
wire because this may
damage the electrode.
• Place the electrode on the
liner and remove the lead
wire by twisting and pulling at
the same time.

THE ELECTRODES
Cleaning and storage of self-adhesive
electrodes:
• Between uses, place the electrodes in a resealed bag
(aluminium bag of the supply) and store in a cool, dry
place.
• Improve repeated application by spreading a few
drops of cold water over the adhesive and turn the
surface of the electrodes with the wetted adhesive up
to air dry. Note however that too much water will
reduce the adhesive properties of the gel.
• The electrodes should be discarded when they are no
longer adhering.
The electrodes do not stick
- Oily skin: Try thoroughly cleaning the skin with soap
and water and dry the area well around the electrode
sites.
-Hairy skin: Clip away the hairs around the location of
the electrodes with scissors. Do not shave the area.
- Perspiration: The adhesive used on the electrodes is
water-based. If it becomes saturated, it will lose its
adhesive qualities.
- Electrodes too dry: As the electrode adhesive is water-
based, if the electrodes become too dry, they can
lose their adhesiveness.
- Wear and tear: The electrodes are subject to natural
wear and tear. Eventually they will wear out and
require replacement.

HOW TO USE YOUR BEAUTY TENS
Functional description
There are 5 controls on the front of your Beauty Tens
device:
•ON/OFF key: To turn on the device, press this key
once. The channels (CH1 and CH2), intensity level 0
(zero) and the program used last are automatically
displayed on the LCD panel, together with the blinking
timer.
•Setting the program: Press the MODE key once. This
activates the displayed program and the program
blinks. You can go to other programs by pressing the
UP and DOWN keys and confirm the selection with the
MODE key.
Select a program that gives you a good feeling. For
details of each program, please read the chapter
"Technical specifications", page 16 of this booklet.
You can chose from 7 programs:
• Setting the time of treatment: After confirming the
program selection with the MODE key, the timer
symbol blinks. You can set the required treatment time
of 15, 30 or 60 minutes and confirm the setting with the
MODE key.
The timer will blink.
• Now press the CH/START key and set the required
intensity level for channel 1 with the UP or DOWN key.
Then press the CH/START key again. The intensity
setting for channel 2 is done in the same way.
Confirm your selection by pressing the CH/START key.
The selected program starts running. The timer blinks
and shows the remaining time before the program is
up.
Test all programs. You can choose from a soft sensation on the
skin to large muscle contractions.

HOW TO USE YOUR BEAUTY TENS
Use
1. Decide the treatment area where you want to
place the electrode pads (figures 13 – 14).
2. Clean the skin before applying the electrodes (pa-
ge 8 – How to prepare the skin).
3. Insert the lead wires into the plug connectors on
the pre-wired electrodes and also into the electro-
de jack on the device (figure on page 6).
4. Apply self-adhesive electrodes pads firmly to the
treatment area.
5. Press the ON/OFF key and select the required tre
atment program (page 11 – Setting the program)
6. Sit comfortably and select the required treatment
time. Start with maximum 30 – 40 minutes per day.
Observe at least 4 hours in between two treat-
ment sessions on any one day.
7. Gradually increase the intensity of treatment. Ob
serve the maximum muscle contraction. Because
muscles react differently to the treatment, you can
vary the treatment intensity during a session.
8. The device turns off at the end of the treatment.
Remove the electrodes and store them (page 9 -
How to remove the self-adhesive electrodes; page
10 - Cleaning and storage of self-adhesive electro-
des).
Note: It is better to concentrate on one part of the
body for one or two application sessions. We do not
recommend that you change the area of treatment
very often.

Body tightening
Training to improve the shape of the arms and shoul-
ders. Slack musculature is strengthened.
To improve the firmness of abdominal muscles, apply
the electrodes to the different muscle groups.
Tightening and strengthening the inner and outer
thigh musculature.

Training to strengthen the shape the musculature of
the abdomen. The flabby skin becomes firmer.
Training to shape the back musculature. The electro-
des are placed on the back muscles.
Training to shape the upper thigh and buttock
muscles.

Training to shape the upper rear thigh and calves
and make them firm.
Training to shape and waistline and the belly. Effec-
tively supports slimming.
Upper thigh and buttock training also facilitates loss
of body weight.

This Beauty Tens SC 208 device carries a warranty of
24 months from the date of purchase.
The warranty applies to the device and necessary
parts.
The warranty does not apply to damage resulting
from failure to follow the operating instructions,
accidents, abuse, alteration by unauthorised
individuals.
During the warranty period the defective device can
be sent freight collect to the customer service
address given below. Please add the purchase
voucher and a description of the problem encoun-
tered. You will then receive a new or your repaired
device free.
Repairs after the end of the warranty period must be
paid for.
