NOTES:
■If you received your height extender after you received your loom, you will
need to remove the treadles to replace them with the longer height extender
treadles.
■Wolf loom legs are called out by where they cross each other. The legs that
touch the ground at the front of the loom are called “inside” legs because they
are covered by the “outside” legs when they cross at the loom center.
■The brake is on the right side of loom. The beater is at the front of the loom.
■The height extender legs are labelled:
RI = right inside, RO = right outside, LI = left inside, LO = left outside.
*These parts are included in the kit for adding a height
extender. If you ordered your loom with the height
extender, these parts will arrive attached to your loom.

FIGURE 1: HEIGHT EXTENDER BLOCKS
1. Unfold the loom on a at surface.
Tighten the fold knobs and engage the slide
locks so the loom is fully extended and
locked.
2. Match each height extender with the
appropriate leg (Figure 1).
3. Remove the arrow peg that is pushed
through the brake cord underneath the
brake release pedal. Using a pair of 9/16"
wrenches, remove the 3/8" x 3" hex bolt
holding the brake release assembly to the
right outside leg. Save all of these parts
except for the hex bolt; you will need them
in Step 8.
4. Remove the 1/4-20 x 3" Phillips truss
head machine screws and the 1/4-20 barrel
nuts holding the rear leg brace from the
hole closest to the oor [A] on each outside
leg (Figure 2). Remove the rear leg brace;
set it aside with the hardware for Step 5.
5. Attach the LO and RO height extender
blocks to the rear leg brace by inserting
the tenon of the brace into the mortise
of the height extender blocks (Figure 3).
Secure the height extender blocks with
the hardware from Step 4: insert a 1/4-20
x 3" Phillips truss head machine screw
through the bottom hole of the height
extender block and thread it into a barrel
nut inserted into the rear leg brace. Hold
the barrel nut in position with a slotted

screwdriver. Repeat for the other height
extender block. Set the rear leg brace
and attached height extender blocks at
the rear of the loom. You may want to
elevate the inside loom legs on books or
wood blocks too.
6. Attach the LO height extender block
to the left outside leg: insert a 1/4-20
x 1" Phillips pan head machine screw
from the inner side of the leg through its
bottom hole (hole [A], Figure 2), then
through the hole with the threaded insert
on the height extender block (3rd hole
from the bottom). Tighten this screw
rmly. Repeat this step for the RO height
extender and right outside leg.
7. Finish attaching the LO height
extender: insert a 1-3/4" Phillips truss
head machine screw from the inner side
of the leg through the top hole (hole [B],
Figure 2), then through the top hole of
the height extender block. Secure the
screw from the outer side of the height
extender block with a 1/4" washer and
1/4-20 lock nut.
8. Re-attach the brake release pedal to
the right outside leg with the new 3/8"
x 3-1/2" hex bolt and the hardware you
removed in Step 3. Work from the outer
side of the loom using the top hole of the
right outside leg (hole [B], Figure 2).
Attach parts in this order: bolt, washer,
brake release pedal, washer, spacer,
washer, RO height extender block, right
outside leg, washer, lock nut. Tighten the
lock nut rmly, then loosen it slightly so
the brake release pedal can pivot. Replace
the brake cord and arrow peg to their
original positions.
9. From the front of the loom, detach all
tie-up cords. Remove the machine screws
and the 1/4-20 barrel nuts holding the
treadle support from the hole closest to
the oor (Figure 4, page 4). Set aside the
barrel nuts for Step 14. Spread the inside
legs apart and remove the treadle support.
If you purchased the Wolf Pup 8.10
loom with Height Extender, skip to
Step 14.
10. There are two kinds of treadles on the
Wolf Pup 8.10: outside treadles (OT) have
metal eyebolts screwed in to them and
inside treadles (IT) have a slot cut into
them. Identify the new inside and outside
extended treadles.
11. Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver,
remove the 3 screws attaching the treadle
blocks (TB) to the treadle support (Figure
5). Remove the metal treadle bar from the
treadle support. Remove all parts from
the metal treadle bar, saving the plastic
spacers (PS), treadle blocks (TB), and
wooden spacers (WS) for the next step.
12. Install the new height extender
treadles on to the metal treadle bar with
the parts saved from Step 11. Parts go in
the following order (from left to right of
the loom front, shown in Figure 5, page 4):
PS, OT, WS, IT, WS, IT, TB, IT, WS, IT, TB,
IT, WS, IT, TB, IT, WS, IT, WS, OT, PS.
13. Re-attach the metal treadle bar to the
treadle support by screwing the treadle
blocks back into the treadle support.
14. Attach the height extender blocks to
the treadle assembly: insert the metal
pins from the treadle support (Figure
6, page 4) into the small holes and the
metal treadle bar ends into the 2nd hole
from the bottom of the height extender
blocks. Insert the saved barrel nuts into
the treadle support and thread new 1/4-
20 x 2-1/2" Phillips truss head machine
screws into them, from the outer side of
the height extender blocks through the
bottom holes. Use a slotted screwdriver to

15. Attach the height extender blocks
to the inside legs using 1/4-20 x 1-1/4"
Phillips truss head machine screws,
inserted from the inside of the leg through
the bottom hole (hole [C], Figure 4), then
through the hole with the threaded insert
on the height extender block (3rd hole
from the bottom). Secure rmly.
16. Finish attaching the height extender
blocks by inserting a 1/4-20 x 1-3/4"
Phillips truss head machine screw from
the inner side of the leg through the top
hole of the leg (Figure 4, hole [D]) and
the top hole of the height extender block.
Secure the screw with a 1/4" washer and
1/4-20 lock nut. Repeat for the other inside
leg and height extender block.
17. Install extended tie-up cords and
extended treadle aid tie-ups. Your height-
extended Wolf loom is now ready to weave
on. •
