1General
1.1 About this manual
This manual contains important information for a safe professional use of this product. The man-
ual is a specific part of the product and must be free for use for all personal. The personnel must
read and understand the entire manual before starting and using this device. Safety instructions in
this manual are irreplaceable for a safe working environment. All pictures and displays are only
used for general understanding and can deviate from the actual practical use. Including this man-
ual, these listed documents apply as well.
1.2 Display of warnings
For clarification of dangers, the following display of warnings and signal words apply.

"Product" in these instructions replaces the product designation on the title page and refers to the

1.5 Warranty
The warranty for the complete system lasts 12 months from the date of delivery under the follow-
ing conditions:
•Observe the applicable documents (see applicable documents)
•Observe the ambient and operating conditions (see ambient and operating conditions)
•Observe the prescribed maintenance instructions (see warnings).
Exceptions to this policy are special agreements on warranty and wear parts. In principle, parts
that come into contact with tools and machines as well as wear parts (actuating screw and seal)
are not part of the warranty.

On request, the assembly and operating instructions as well as the valid approval drawing of the
tool holder can also be requested in digital form, under declaration of the material number.

2Basic safety notes
2.1 Product safety
The product corresponds to the state of the technology and the recognized safety rules. Neverthe-
less, hazards may emanate from the product if, for example:
•The product is not used as intended.
•The product is improperly installed, maintained, stored or transported.
•The safety and assembly instructions are not observed.
•Any working method which could impair the function and operational safety of the
product must be avoided.
2.2 Intended use
The complete system is intended exclusively for use in machine tools for the acquisition of process
data of the iTENDO².
The complete system may only be used and operated with the “iTENDO²-APP” application soft-
ware pre-installed by the manufacturer.
•The iTENDO² is also used to hold, clamp and reliably hold tools with predefined shanks.
•The complete system may only be used within the scope of the specifications in the tech-
nical data (see technical data).
•Intended use also includes keeping conditions according to all the instructions in this man-
ual.
2.3 Non intended use
The product is not used for its intended purpose if, for example:
•Workpieces or similar are held and clamped.
•The specifications in the technical data are not observed when using and operating the
product. (see technical data)
•The toolholder is used as a lifting tool.
•The specified minimum clamping depth is not maintained.
•The product is operated in corrosive mediums.
•The maintenance and storage specifications are not observed.
•The connection with devices that are not recommended by SCHUNK.

2.4 Structural changes
Carry out (Implement) structural changes:
Modifications, alterations and reworking, e.g. additional threads, bore holes, safety devices, may
impair function and safety or cause damage to the product.
•Only make structural changes with the written approval of SCHUNK.
2.5 Spare parts
Use of unauthorized spare parts
The use of unauthorized spare parts can be dangerous to personnel and cause damage or malfunc-
tion to the product.
•Only use original spare parts and spare parts approved by SCHUNK.
2.6 Ambient and operating conditions
Requirements for ambient and operating conditions
Incorrect ambient and operating conditions can cause hazards from the product that can lead to
serious injuries and considerable damage to property and/or significantly reduce the service life of
the product.

2.7 Personnel qualifications
Insufficient qualification of the staff
If insufficiently qualified personnel carry out work on the product, serious injuries and considera-
ble damage to property can be caused.
•All work must be carried out by qualified personnel
•Before working with the product, the personnel must have read and understood the com-
plete instructions
•Observe country specific accident prevention regulations and the general safety instruc-
tions
The following qualifications of the personnel are necessary for the various activities on the prod-
uct.
Professional personnel:
Due to their professional training, knowledge and experience, the professional
personnel are able to carry out the work assigned to them, to recognize and
avoid possible hazards and are familiar with the relevant standards and regula-
tions.
Instructed person:
The instructed person was informed in an instruction by the professional person-
nel about the tasks assigned to him and possible dangers in case of improper be-
havior.
Manufacturer´s service personnel:
The manufacturer's service personnel, based on their professional training,
knowledge and experience, are able to carry out the work assigned to them and
to recognize and avoid possible hazards.

2.8 Obligations of the operator
The operator must ensure that:
•The product is only used as intended.
•The product is only operated in perfect working order and its function is checked regularly.
•The operating instructions are always available in a legible condition and complete at the
place of use of the product.
•Only sufficiently qualified and authorized personnel operate and maintain the product
•These personnel are regularly instructed in occupational safety and environmental protec-
tion and are familiar with the operating instructions and in particular the safety instruc-
tions contained therein.
2.9 Personal protective equipment
Usage of personal protective equipment:
Personal protective equipment is used to protect personnel from hazards that may affect their
safety or health at work.
•When working with the product, observe the occupational health and safety regulations
and wear the required personal protective equipment.
•Observe the valid safety and accident prevention.
2.10 Suggestions for a safe operation
Improper operation of the personnel:
Improper operation may result in hazards from the product that can lead to serious injuries and
considerable damage to property.
•Refrain from any working methods that impair the function and operational safety of the
product.
•Use the product as intended.
•Observe the safety and mounting instructions.
•Do not expose the product to corrosive mediums. Excluded are products for special envi-
ronmental conditions.
•Eliminate occurring faults immediately.
•Observe the maintenance and care instructions.
•Observe the valid safety, accident prevention and environmental protection regulations for
the application area of the product.

2.11 Transport
Behavior at transport:
Improper behavior during transport may result in hazards from the product that can lead to seri-
ous injuries and considerable damage to property.
•During transport, secure the product against falling down.
•During transport look after surroundings and ambient.

Before transport, ensure that the accessories are correctly stowed and
the case itself is closed.

Protect the system from shocks during transport, otherwise the system
may be damaged.
In order not to damage the system during transportation, the following must be ensured:
•The system must be protected from penetrating moisture e.g. by suitable transport pack-
aging.
•The ambient conditions specified in the technical data must be observed.
•The system must be protected against shocks and impacts.
•All cable connections must be disconnected.

2.12 Disassembly, dismantling and storage of the product
ATTENTION
Danger from damage of the system due to improper storage of
the accessories
When dismantling the product, make sure that the accessories are
stored in the places provided for them.
When dismantling the product, make sure that the latches of the case
are correctly locked.

storage
When storing the product, observe the ambient conditions according
to the technical data.
ATTENTION
Before recommissioning, clean the product and all attached parts,
check for damage, functionality and leak tightness.
To avoid damage during transport and storage, the following must be observed when dismantling
the system:
•Store the accessories in the cutouts intended for them
•The latches of the case must be locked
•When dismantling the iTENDO², check the electronics for damage such as detachment or
cracks.
•Return damaged toolholders to SCHUNK for inspection.
•Only store the toolholder in a corrosion protected and unclamped state. In addition, make
sure that the battery is charged to at least 80% before storing
•Before packing, charge the tablet to at least 80% and then shut it down.

2.13 Interferences
Behavior in the event of malfunctions:
•Immediately take the product out of operation and report the fault to the responsible per-
sons.
•Have the fault rectified by personnel trained for this purpose
•Do not take the product back into service until the fault has been rectified.
•Check the product after a malfunction to ensure that the functions of the product are still
given and that no extended hazards have emerged.
2.14 Maintenance
ATTENTION
Danger resulting from damage to the system due to electrical
voltage
•Protect the system from moisture and incoming wetness,
only clean dry
•In particular, care should be taken not to get the tablet wet or damp
to avoid damage to the device.
To ensure trouble free, long term use, clean and maintain the product and the attachment parts
regularly and check their functionality.
Repairs should always be carried out at SCHUNK.

The specified maintenance intervals are based on SCHUNK's experience and are a recommenda-
tion. Depending on the ambient and operating conditions as well as the clamping frequency of the
product, the maintenance intervals must be adjusted accordingly and specifically noted. In the
case of maintenance intervals with two or more specifications, the specification that applies first
counts.
After completing the required maintenance work, carry out the necessary adjustments and func-
tion tests again.

2.15 Disposal
Behavior when disposing:
Improper conduct during disposal may result in hazards from the product that can cause serious
injuries, significant property damages and environmental damages.
•Dispose the products components in accordance with local recycling and disposal regula-
tions.
In accordance with the electrical waste and electronic equipment (WEEE) guidelines, the following
must be observed during disposal:
•This product should not be disposed together with household waste. It should be taken to
a collection point for recovery and recycling of materials.

•Remove the energy supply lines before installation, conversion, maintenance and adjust-
ment work. Make sure that there is no residual energy in the system.

injuries and considerable damage to property.
•All work must be carried out by qualified personnel only.
•Observe the applicable accident prevention regulations.
•Use suitable assembly and transport equipment and take precautions against pinching and
crushing.
2.16.2 Safety for commissioning and operation
Falling and ejecting components:
Falling and ejecting components can lead to serious injuries or even death.
•Only use the iTENDO² on machines with a closed safety guard.
•Observe the legitimate speed range of the iTENDO² tool holder (see technical data)
