1 General
1.1 About this manual
This manual contains important information for a safe and
appropriate use of the product.
This manual is an integral part of the product and must be kept
accessible for the personnel at all times.
Before starting work, the personnel must have read and
understood this operating manual. Prerequisite for safe working
is the observance of all safety instructions in this manual.
In addition to these instructions, the documents listed
under }1.1.4 [/6] are applicable.
NOTE: The illustrations in this manual are intended to provide a
basic understanding and may deviate from the actual version.

1.2 Warranty
The warranty is valid for 12 months from the date of delivery from
the production facility if the product is used as intended and in
compliance with the prescribed operating data.
Wear parts and parts that come in contact with the tool or
machine are not covered by the warranty.

2 Basic safety notes
2.1 Notes on safe operation
lThe product must not be clamped without a tool above 25°C.
lNever combine multiple product extensions.
lOnly use SCHUNK intermediate sleeves and always insert up to
the fixed backstop point. The use of intermediate sleeves can
reduce the transmittable torque.
lLong, projecting or heavy tools may only be clamped if the
speed of rotation is reduced according to the ambient and
operating conditions on site. The level of reduction is the
responsibility of the operator and must ensure safe operation
of the product.
lMaintain and service the product on a regular basis.
lDo not remove the air bleed screw (secured with pin or resin).
lAll repair work must be performed by SCHUNK.
lThe operational safety and function of the product must not
be impaired by external influences.
lFollow the country-specific applicable safety, accident
prevention, and environmental protection regulations for the
application field of the product.
lUse mechanical screwdrivers only after approval by SCHUNK.
2.2 Appropriate use
lThe product is used to clamp rotationally symmetric tools.
lThe product is intended for industrial use.
lThe product is intended for installation in a machine/
automated system. The applicable guidelines for the machine/
automated system must be observed and complied with.
lThe product may only be used and operated within the scope
of the technical data and the specifications in this

2.3 Inappropriate use
The product is not being used as intended if:
lThe information in the technical data is not observed when
using and operating the product }3 [/10].
lThe maintenance and storage instructions are not

lThe product is used with heat shrinking technology.
lThe product is used in explosive environments.
2.4 Ambient conditions and operating conditions
The ambient and operating conditions must correspond or be
adapted to the version of the product and the specifications in
the technical data.
2.5 Structural changes, spare parts
Structural changes such as modification and reworking, e.g.
additional threads, bore holes or attachments, may only be
carried out with the written approval of SCHUNK. Only use
original spare parts and spares authorized by SCHUNK.
2.6 Personnel qualifications
lAll operations may only be carried out by personnel that are
qualified and instructed for the respective operation.
lPersonnel qualifications must comply with the on-site
country-specific requirements and laws.
2.7 Personal protective equipment
lWhen working on and with the product, follow the respective
country-specific legal requirements for occupational health
and safety, and wear the necessary personal protective
equipment.
lFollow country-specific accident prevention regulations and
the general safety notes.
2.8 Transport
To avoid product damage, the transport and handling of the
product must be adapted according to the version, weight and
packaging of the product. If necessary, use additional aids.

4.1 Design

4.2 Functional description
This product clamps hydraulically by means of manual actuation.
The piston with stroke limitation is actuated via a clamping
screw. To achieve the full clamping force, the clamping screw
must be screwed in until it reaches the stop. The stroke
limitation protects the product against over-expansion.
The volume of oil that is squeezed out of the piston chamber is
pressed in measured amounts against the thin-walled expansion
sleeve. The resulting internal pressure presses radially against the
thin-walled expansion sleeve, causing the clamping range to
expand evenly along the entire active clamping length, uniformly
central to the middle axis. The tool is clamped.
Screwing back the clamping screw causes a reduction of the
pressure in the piston chamber and the expansion chamber. The
thin-walled expansion sleeve then returns radially to its exact
home position. The tool can be removed.

5 Operation
5.1 Basic information
WARNING
Risk of injury and property damage due to the expansion sleeve
cracking.
If the expansion sleeve cracks, oil may be emitted at high
pressure and chips or broken pieces may be ejected, causing
severe injuries.
lNever heat the product in heat shrink devices; only perform
a tool change using the integrated clamping screw.
lAvoid knocking or banging the expansion sleeve.
lWhen the product is tensioned, do not exceed the maximum
permissible operating temperature.
lOnly operate the product within the optimum operating
temperature range.
lTake suitable protective measures to secure the danger zone.
lWear suitable protective equipment.
WARNING
Risk of injury due to leakage of highly pressurized oil.
If the air bleed screw is unscrewed when the product is clamped,
highly pressurized oil can escape, causing serious injury.
lNever unscrew the air bleed screw.
lDo not remove the air bleed screw locking device (pin or
resin).
WARNING
Risk of injury when the product is rotating, due to the
possibility of parts flying off.
lComply with technical data.
lEnsure correct installation and seating of existing add-on
and functional components.
lCheck clamping force regularly.
lTake appropriate protective measures to secure danger zones.
lWear suitable protective equipment.

WARNING
Risk of injury due to the tool being flung out if the RPM is too
high or not suitable.
lObserve the technical data.
lDo not exceed the maximum RPM.
lReduce the speed of rotation appropriately for strongly
protruding or balance-asymmetrical tools.
lTake suitable protective measures to secure the danger zones.
lWear suitable protective equipment.
WARNING
Risk of injury due to ejected parts!
The max. speed of rotation of the machine/automated system
must be reduced when using long, projecting or heavy tools and
with extensions.
CAUTION
Risk of injury from tools with sharp edges!
Sharp edges on tools can cause cuts.
lWear protective gloves when assembling the tool.
CAUTION
Risk of crushing and impact during tool change.
lDo not reach between the product and the tool when
changing tools.
lWear suitable protective equipment.
CAUTION
Risk of damage to the product.
If the product is not used as intended, the product may get
damaged.
lOnly operate the clamping screw by hand.
lObserve the minimum clamping depth of the tool.
lThe tool must be free of burrs and dirt on the shank.
lDo not adjust the tool length when the tool is clamped.

5.2 Clamping the tool
To join the tool, the product must be unclamped. Initial tension
inhibits loading and can damage the expansion sleeve.
IMPORTANT!The tools to be clamped must be deburred at the
surfaces that come into contact with the product, may not have
sharp contours and must be free of oil, grease and dirt.
When clamping the tool, observe the following points:
lThe clamping screw may only be actuated by hand.
lDo not combine multiple extensions (e.g. TENDO SVL).
lThe product may not be clamped without a tool above 25°C.
lOnly clamp permissible tool shank types }3.5 [/14].
For clamping, proceed as follows:
1. Observe the technical data }3 [/10] and the marking on the
product.
2. Make sure that the product is in an unclamped state.
3. Clean clamping surfaces.
4. The tool length can be adjusted by screwing the length-
setting screw in or out. Observe the adjustment travel of the
length-setting screw }3 [/10].
5. Insert the tool into the product in the correct position
without exerting too much force.
CAUTION! The minimum clamping depth }3.4 [/13] must not
be undershot!
6. Screw the clamping screw in by hand until it reaches the
stop. Observe the maximum specified tightening
torque }3 [/10].
7. Check that the tool is firmly in place.
8. Mount the product }6 [/22].
IMPORTANT!Safe clamping of the tool is only achieved when the
clamping screw is screwed in until it reaches the stop!
