cable (RCA output jack)
• Weatherproof cap kit
• 2 #10 1” screws with washers
• 1 Security key
• 1 Drilling template
The CHQ8PD camera with IR is designed for interior use only.
Step 1: Choose Camera Location
1. Determine the location for mounting the camera:
• choose a solid surface to minimize vibration
• choose a location away from access panels, hatches, or doors which may block the camera view
• choose a location away from heat sources
Cameras are usually installed with the cabling running inside the wall panels.
2. Use the supplied drilling guide template to mark the cable (7/8”) and screw (5/32”) holes on the panel.
3. Use a step-bit to drill the cable hole, and regular bits for the screw holes.
4. Connect the camera harness’s RJ45 connector to an NX/HX16 recorder’s POE HD CAM port (or a
PoE switch, if applicable).
5. Thread the camera harness from the recorder to the camera location through the panel cable hole.
Step 2: Install Weatherproof Cap and Connect Camera
Important: Do not cut or re-crimp cable
Installing the weatherproof cap does not require
cutting the camera harness or re-crimping the cable.
Tip: Install Weatherproof Cap
We highly recommend installing the supplied
weatherproof cap.

Tip: RJ45 Protective Cover
The camera harness ships with a protective plastic cover placed over the RJ45 jack to prevent damage to
the connector and the locking tab during installation.
Leave the protective cover in place while routing the cable from the recorder to the camera location.
Remove the cover when you’re ready to connect the harness to the camera pigtail.
