IMPORTANT PRECAUTION
Before using the Shintaro External Card Reader, please read these instructions
and save them for later reference.
Before installing the Shintaro External Card Reader to the computer,1.
please read the following user guide. In some operating systems, the
driver software must be installed prior to operation.
Do not drop or allow forceful impact to the product, or install it in locations2.
exposed to heavy vibrations, as doing so may severely damage the
product.
Do not disassemble or modify the product in any way. Disassembly or3.
modification may not only void warranty but could also cause damage.
Do not use or store the product in damp or high temperature locations.4.
Keep product away from liquids as they may cause damage or lead to fire5.

Do not remove the memory cards from card reader slot while LED6.
indicator is flashing. This LED indicates the device is being accessed by
the computer.

GENERAL INFORMATION
The Shintaro USB 3.0 External Card Reader is ideal for high speed data
transmitting. If the host PC does not feature a USB 3.0 controller, Shintaro
PCI-E (SHUSB3PCIE) and ExpressCard (SHUSB3EX) adapters are available
from your Shintaro stockist.
The five available memory card slots offer support for more than fifty types
of memory cards and can accept the most popular small form factor flash
cards directly; such as Mini SD, RS-MMC, MS-Duo and MS Micro (M2). It also
supports all the popular full-size memory cards such as Secure Digital (SD),
MultiMedia Card (MMC), Compact Flash (CF), Memory Stick (MS), Memory
Stick Pro, xD picture card (xD) and other compatible memory cards.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
A PC or notebook with one available USB SuperSpeed 3.0 port.•

FRONT VIEW
Caution:
The external card reader provides five slots for different types of memory cards application. Each
memory card must be inserted into the correct slot. Do not attempt to insert the cards in reverse
direction with force. This may damage the memory cards or the slot.

CARD FORMATS
xD
The xD slot is located in top-right of front bezel.
SD
This slot is located in the middle of front bezel, it is labeled “SDXC/SD/MMC”
which can accept Secure Digital card (SD), mini SD, Multi Media Card or RS
MMC etc. (The mini SD’s gold contact area must be upward)
Note 1: After inserting SDXC/SDHC...etc memory card, be careful the memory
card’s lock switch which will be shifted slightly as below.

Note 2: When inserting the Mini SD memory card, you should align it to the left
of the slot as best.
M2/Micro SD
The Micro SD (also called T-flash). The slot is labeled as “M2/Micro SD” which
accepts Micro SD and M2 memory cards without the need of an adapter.
CF
This slot is labeled as “CF” which accepts Compact Flash memory cards type
I/II, Micro Drive, and Magicstor cards.
Note :If the CF 64GB UDMA 6 memory card is formatted as NTFS in Win
VISTA/7 before using, it can not be formatted again in Win XP.

MS/MS Duo
This slot labeled as “MS/MS Duo” accepts Memory stick, MS Pro, MS Duo,
MS Pro Duo, and MS Micro memory cards.
Indicator Description
ON: It will light up when memory card is inserted.
Flash: It will flash while data is transmitting.

ICON PROGRAM INSTALLATION
After you install the external card reader you will then need to install the
Shintaro USB 3.0 Card Reader Icon Program.
Windows XP/VISTA/7
A. Insert the program disc into your CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive.
B. Click the folder “IconMan_R_V1.20_(xD)”.
C. Click The file “IconMan_R_V1.20_(xD)”.

D. Click “OK” to complete the installation.
E. Installation Complete.
