Shoe Care Innovations SteriShoe User manual

ultraviolet shoe sanitizer
owner’s manual

Congratulations on purchasing your SteriShoe™ ultraviolet
shoe sanitizer! As a health conscious consumer, you have
obviously realized the importance of keeping your feet and
body clean and healthy. The SteriShoe™ shoe sanitizer is
the first germicidal ultraviolet (“UV”) product that safely and
effectively cleans the inside of shoes. (It is clinically proven to
destroy at least 99.9% of targeted microorganisms.)
While developing the SteriShoe™ shoe sanitizer, we have
learned many surprising facts about feet. For example:
■ shoe odor is caused by bacteria feeding on sweat and dead
skin cells;
■ there are more than 250,000 sweat glands in each foot
capable of producing more than half a pint of sweat daily;
■ people with diabetes need to be very proactive about the
health of their feet to reduce the likelihood of needing an
amputation.
Please read through this manual to learn how to use your
SteriShoe™ shoe sanitizer safely and effectively.
Wear the shoes you love! Don’t be embarrassed when you
take them off. Dance. Run. Play your favorite sport! Sweat in
your shoes and smile because you have finally found a way
to clean them.
Sincerely,
Adam Ullman
President & CEO

Suggestions for use
1. To ensure that you are always putting on a clean pair of
shoes, treat all of your shoes with the SteriShoe™ shoe
sanitizer.
2. Use the SteriShoe™ shoe sanitizer in your shoes after you
wear them. You may be wondering, “Do I have to do this
every day?” Our recommendation is yes. If you have micro-
organisms on your feet (which we all do), you are poten-
tially infecting your shoe with those microorganisms.
3. To ensure continued effectiveness, replace the UV lamp
every two years. The UV lamp will continue to operate af-
ter it has exhausted its germicidal effectiveness. Therefore,
to ensure your SteriShoe™ shoe sanitizer is effectively
destroying the microorganisms in your shoes, we recom-
mend you replace the lamps every two years (based on
normal use).

Important Information
DO NOT look at the light from
your SteriShoe™ ultraviolet shoe
sanitizer when it is turned on;
it emits UV light which can be
harmful to eyes and skin. You
can tell when the SteriShoe™
shoe sanitizer light is on because the on/off button will be
glowing solid blue.
If the on/off button is flashing, an error has occurred. The
SteriShoe™ shoe sanitizer has built-in safety features to
reduce the likelihood of accidental exposure to the UV lamp.
An error is most likely due due to the activation of a safety fea-
ture. See the “Troubleshooting” section for more information.
Hg - LAMP CONTAINS MERCURY. The lamp contains a tiny
metal ball which you may hear inside the lamp. This is nor-
mal; the lamp is not broken. This metal ball is a small amount
of mercury which is used to generate the germicidal UV light.
Since mercury is toxic please dispose of the lamp in accor-
dance with local disposal laws. For more information, see:
www.nema.org/lamprecycle/contacts/.

holding the on/off button down the light will stop flashing and
then it flash a certain number of times to reveal an error code.
The error chart is provided below. If you have any questions,
please call 1-866-686-Shoe (7463) for technical assistance.

side a shoe. If the shoe is a sandal or open shoe,
be sure to place the SteriShoe™ shoe sanitizer

see if it is broken. If this is the first time using
the SteriShoe™ shoe sanitizer, be sure the lamp
is screwed in properly. If you have been using
the SteriShoe™ shoe sanitizer without this error
code, it may be time to replace the lamp.
