DANGER
HAZARDOUS VOLTAGE
The system is supplied with mains voltage from the grid. Danger of
electrocution - contact will cause electric shock, burn or death.
▸Before working on the system:
▸Follow operational procedures such as Lockout-Tagout.
▸Check that there is no residual voltage by measuring AC voltages.
▸Only qualified personnel are permitted to carry out electrical work on
the system.
▸Always exercise caution when handling cables and connectors.
▸Be aware of the risk of secondary accidents occurring if you are star-
tled.
▸Do not open system components.
▸Use only sufficient shielded cables.
▸Keep enclosure covers always closed.

2.7 Intended Use
The Inline Code Matcher is a system for detecting and processing of coded information on
packaging and products.
At any other use and modification of the product any warranty claim against SICK AG shall
be forfeited.
2.8 Requirements for the Qualification of Personnel
NOTICE
SYSTEM WARRANTY
If you disregard the safety and hazard precautions, no warranty claim for damages will be
honored. If you alter parts of the System by your own initiative, all warranty claims will be
lost.
▸Regard all safety and hazard precautions.
▸Use only material supplied or approved by SICK for the system maintenance.
▸Do not alter the system.
NOTICE
SYSTEM DAMAGE
Damage to any system components or parts can lead to malfunction of the Inline Code
Matcher.
▸Do not ignore damaged or broken parts, refer to this manual and contact SICK support
immediately.
▸Do not install damaged parts.

Qualified personnel
●Qualified personnel have the specialist training, skills, and experience, as
well as knowledge of the relevant regulations and standards, to be able to
perform tasks delegated to them and to detect and to avoid any potential
dangers independently.

4 Commissioning
Prerequisites:
▸All system components are installed.
▸All system components are connected with the respective cables:
▸Power supply 24 VDC.
▸Ethernet cable at the Ethernet switch.
▸Signal outputs.
▸For configuration the SOPAS Engineering Tool must be installed on an available laptop.
The current SOPAS version can be downloaded at www.sick.de
4.1 Software Updates
After a restart of the SIU the Lector6xx is automatically connected.
After approx. 60 sec. the GUI is operable. During this time, a busy indicator (charging sym-
bol) is displayed.

4.2 SIU, Lector and Handheld Scanner Configuration
SIU ▸Login as user in the “Service“ level. Default password: “servicelevel“.
▸Select “IP address“ in the user menu.
▸Enter the IP address and the subnet mask.
Lector ▸Connect the laptop with the pre-installed SOPAS software to the first Lector.
▸Assign IP address.
▸Perform this procedure for all other Lectors and the handheld scanner.

4.3 Group Name Adjustment
Flexible customization of group names for different applications.
This extension no longer reduces the device group name to the standard names "lid" and
"tup" only. The user can assign his own name.
If group names are not changed, the default names are translated into all supported lan-
guages.
The group name adjustment affects the following windows:
●Device settings
●Online picture (statistics table)
●Matchcode teach-in ("on the fly" teach-in, confirm dialog if a group has no reference
code)
●Manual scanner ("Teach-in matchcode" window, confirm dialog if a group does not have
a reference code)
●Translation (as long as no changes have been made, the default name is translated into
all supported languages)
Limitation The standard translation of "lid and tub" into any supported language only works if no
changes have been made in the device settings window (group name editing field).
Switching between one of the groups (pressing the radio button) also leads to a change in
the database, which means that the translation of the group name no longer works. Always
select the language before setting up the system.

4.4 Basic Settings
▸Login at the service level. Password: “servicelevel“.
▸Select the language.

▸Set date and time.
▸Set a profile password.
4.5 Sensor Settings
▸Enter device name.
▸Enter IP address. First set the IP address, see: chapter 4.2 SIU, Lector and Handheld
Scanner Configuration /page 14.
▸Select the device group: “Lid“ or “Tub“.
▸Determine the Trigger-Alarm. Alarm appears after a certain fault number.
▸Do not alter Host-Port and AUX-Port.
▸Press the connection soft key.
▸Arrow key color changes to red. The connection is active.

▸To disconnect press the red colored arrow key.
4.6 Sensor Auto Setup
▸Select a device (e.g. jar).
▸Select “Auto-Setup“ menu.
▸Press “Start“ key on the display.
▸The auto setup starts.
▸If necessary, adjust the read parameters.
▸The sequence must be selected individually for each device.

4.7 Teach-in Match Code Manually
▸Select a device (e. g. Container 1) for teach-in.
▸Place the device in the respective reading station.
▸Select “Match code teach-in“ menu.
▸Select tab “manually“.
▸Press “Start“ key.
▸The code will be read and is considered as new reference code for all devices.
▸Repeat the process for one more device.
4.8 Teach-in Match Code “on the fly“
▸Select tab “on the fly“.
▸Press “Start key.
