Read this manual thoroughly before rst use, even if you are familiar with this type of product. The
safety precautions enclosed herein reduce the risk of re; electric shock and injury when correctly
adhere to. Please keep this user manual in a safe place along with your purchase receipt, warranty
card and carton for future reference. If applicable, pass these instructions and packaging on to the
next owner of the product. Always follow basic safety precautions and accident prevention measure
when using an electrical product.
1. Read all instructions before using the Radio.
2. Never allow children to play with electrical equipment.
3. Do not use the Radio for anything other than its intended use.
4. Before turning on, ensure the electrical voltage and frequency of the circuit corresponds to those
indicated on the rating label of the power adaptor.
5. Do not allow the Radio, its power adaptor, cord or plug to come into contact with water or any
other liquid.
6. The Radio is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or any type of separate
remote control system.
7. The use of attachments not recommended or sold by the manufacturer is dangerous and may
cause re, electric shock or injury.
8. This Radio is intended to be used indoors, for household use only. Do not use the Radio
outdoors.
9. Keep the Radio, its power adaptor, cord and plug out of direct sunlight.
10. Do not use an extension cord with this Radio unless completely necessary. If an extension cord is
used, ensure that it has a rating equal or exceeding the rating of the power adaptor.
11. Do not pull or carry by the power cord, use the cord as a handle, close a door on the cord, or pull
the cord around sharp edges or corners. Keep the cord away from heated surfaces.
12. Do not bend or damage the power cord.
13. Always unplug the Radio when not in use. To disconnect from the power supply, rst ensure the
unit is turned off by pressing the MODE button, then grip the plug and pull from the power
socket. Never pull by the cord. The power plug must be removed from the power socket before
cleaning, servicing, or maintenance.
14. Unplug the Radio in cases of electrical storms to protect against the possibility of power surges
damaging the Radio.
15. Never force the plug into an outlet.

16. Ensure that power sockets are not overloaded by operating several electrical products that
exceed the power supply of the socket. Review the rating label of each electrical product being
operated to ensure that they do not exceed the capacity of the power socket. Always turn off and
unplug any electrical product that is not being used.
17. Never operate the Radio with wet hands, submerge under water or spill liquids into the Radio.
18. Always turn the Radio off and disconnect from the power source before cleaning. Never use
liquid cleaners, use a soft dry (or slightly damp) cloth to wipe over.
19. Do not place the Radio near a hot burner (gas or electric), heat sources or open ames.
20. Improper installation may result in the risk of re, electric shock and/or injury to persons.
21. If the power adaptor or its cord or plug is damaged, do not use the Radio. Please contact the
After Sales Support Line for assistance.
22. Always ensure that the power adaptor and cord are placed in a safe location to ensure that they
cannot be stepped on or cannot pose as a tripping hazard. Do not place any items on or against
the power adaptor and cord.
23. The manufacturer and retailer are not responsible for any eventual damages caused by improper
or faulty use.
24. The Radio and its power adaptor have no user serviceable parts contained within. Do not attempt
to repair, disassemble or modify the Radio or its power adaptor.
25. This Radio is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory
or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given
supervision or instruction concerning use of the Radio by a person responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the Radio.
26. Ensure that all packaging and plastic bags that were included in the Radio gift box are kept out of
reach from children to avoid potential danger of suffocation.
27. Do not use the Radio on an unstable surface.
28. The Radio must ONLY be powered by the power adaptor that is supplied with the product. Do
not use any other power adaptor. If you experience difculties with the power adaptor supplied,
please contact the customer support line for assistance.
29. Be extremely careful when unpacking or relocating the Radio and its power adaptor. Ensure that
the Radio and power adaptor are not dropped, bumped or have excessive force applied. Impacts
such as these can damage the product and its internal components.
30. Do not place this product against soft surfaces, drapery or fabric that may block the ventilation
holes. The product should not be placed in an “in-built” installation unless all ventilation holes are
provided with adequate ventilation.
31. If the Radio has been exposed to strong uctuations in temperature (for example, after transport),
do not switch it on immediately. Moisture and condensation could damage the equipment. Do not
switch on the equipment until it has reached room temperature.

32. Bluetooth®devices and wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11b/g) use the same frequency band (2.4 GHz).
When using your Bluetooth®device near a device with wireless LAN capability, electromagnetic
interference may occur. This could result in lower data transfer rates, noise, or inability to
connect.
33. The radio waves broadcasted by the Radio may interfere with the operation of some medical
devices. Since this interference may result in malfunction, always turn off the power on this
Radio, mobile phone and Bluetooth®enabled device in the following locations:
• Hospitals, trains or aeroplanes.
• Near automatic doors or re alarms
34. The Radio should always be repacked in its original packaging whenever transporting to prevent
any possible damage to the device.
35. Where the mains plug or an appliance coupler is used as the disconnect device, the disconnect
device shall remain readily operable.

Before First Use
Prior to using your Radio, please read all safety and operating instructions thoroughly. Please
ensure you follow the steps below before using this appliance. We recommend you keep the original
packaging for storing your Radio when not in use.
1. Unpack the product but keep all packaging material until you have made sure your new Radio is
undamaged and in good working order. Plastic wrapping can be a suffocation hazard for babies
and young children so ensure all packaging materials are out of their reach.
2. Remove the twist-tie which is securing the electrical cord of the AC/DC power adaptor. Uncoil
the cord and straighten it to remove any kinks. Do not use the product if any part of the AC/DC
power adaptor including the cord or plug is damaged, please call the After Sales Support line for
further advice.
3. Place the Radio on a at, level surface. Make sure it is not subject to vibrations or movement.
Connecting to Power
1. Once all packaging has been removed and the Radio is located in a suitable position on a stable
and secure surface, plug the power adaptor into a power socket and connect the other end to the
Radio. The DC power input is located on the rear of the unit and is listed as No. 4 on the Rear of
DAB+ Radio Diagram in this manual.
2. Once each end of the power adaptor has been correctly and securely connected, switch the
power socket on. The Radio will automatically enter standby mode.
Turning on the Radio
1. To wake the Radio from standby mode, press and hold the MODE button (No. 2 on the Front
of DAB+ Radio Diagram) for approximately 2 seconds. The Radio will automatically enter DAB
mode.
NOTE: For the rst time use, the Radio will enter DAB mode. After 2 seconds, the LCD display will
show ‘Scanning’, indicating that the Radio is scanning for available digital radio stations in your
area. For details on using DAB Mode, refer to page 16.
2. To set the Radio back to standby mode, press and hold the MODE button for approximately 2
seconds.

Setting the Time/Date
If you have performed an auto scan to search and save the available digital radio stations in your area
(see page 17 for details), the Radio can set its clock from DAB radio broadcasts. After a power failure,
the Radio will then set its clock the next time the unit is set to DAB mode. Alternatively, the time and
date can be set manually by following the steps below.
Setting 12/24 Hour Time Format
1. In standby mode, press and hold the button for approximately 2 seconds. The LCD display
will show “Set clock”.
2. Press the or button 3 times until “Set 12/24 hour” is shown on the LCD display.
3. Press the button to set the time format.
4. Press the or button to select between “Set 24 hour” (24-hour time format) and "Set 12
hour" (12-hour time format), then press the button conrm the selection.
Setting the Correct Time
1. In standby mode, press and hold the button for approximately 2 seconds. The LCD display
will show “Set Clock”.
2. Press the button to set the time.
3. The LCD display will show the current time, with the rst 2 digits ashing, indicating that the time
hour is to be set.
4. Press the or button repeatedly to select the correct hour, then press the button conrm
the selection.
5. The LCD display will show the second 2 digits ashing, indicating that the time minute is to be
set.
6. Press the or button repeatedly to select the correct minute, then press the button
conrm the selection.
Setting the Correct Date
1. In standby mode, press and hold the button for approximately 2 seconds. The LCD display
will show “Set Date”.
2. Press the or button until “Set Date” is shown on the LCD display.
3. Press the button to set the date (Day/Month/Year).
4. The LCD display will show the current date, with the last 4 digits ashing, indicating that the year
is to be set.

5. Press the or button repeatedly to select the correct year, then press the button conrm
the selection.
6. The LCD display will show the second 2 digits ashing, indicating that the month is to be set.
7. Press the or button repeatedly to select the correct month, then press the button
conrm the selection.
8. The LCD display will show the rst 2 digits ashing, indicating that the day is to be set.
9. Press the or button repeatedly to select the correct day, then press the button conrm
the selection.
Using the Alarms
From standby mode, the unit can automatically enter DAB mode, FM mode or play a buzzer by
setting an allocated alarm time. The Radio allows for a total of 2 alarms to be set at any given time.
Setting an Alarm
1. In standby mode:
• To set Alarm 1, press and hold the ALARM button until the icon and “Alarm setup” is
showing on the LCD display, then press the button.
• To set Alarm 2, press and hold the ALARM button until the icon and “Alarm setup” is
showing on the LCD display, then press the button.
2. The LCD display will show “00:00”, with the rst 2 digits ashing, indicating that the alarm hour is
to be set.
3. Press the or button repeatedly to select the correct hour, then press the button conrm
the selection.
4. The LCD display will show the second 2 digits ashing, indicating that the alarm minute is to be
set.
5. Press the or button repeatedly to select the correct minute, then press the button
conrm the selection.
6. The LCD display will show “DAB Mode” ashing, indicating that the playback mode when the
alarm activates.
7. Press the or button repeatedly to select between DAB mode, FM mode and buzzer, then
press the button conrm the selection.
IMPORTANT: If DAB mode or FM mode is selected, ensure that the volume of the unit is turned
up to an adequate level. If the volume is turned all the way down, no sound will be emitted from
the Radio once the alarm goes off.

NOTE: When your alarm is set to wake up by DAB, your clock radio will automatically set to the
last listened station. When FM is selected, the alarm can be set to any of the stations which have
been stored as presets or to the station last listened to.
8. The LCD display will show "Alarm Saved", indicating that the alarm setting is now active. All
active alarms are indicated on the LCD display (e.g. ).
Stopping/Snoozing an Alarm
1. To stop an alarm, press the ALARM button.
2. To snooze an alarm for 9 minutes, press the SNOOZE button.
Disabling an Alarm
1. To disable Alarm 1, press the ALARM button until the icon is no longer showing on the LCD
display.
2. To disable Alarm 2, press and hold the ALARM button until the icon is no longer showing on
the LCD display.
Adjusting the Volume
1. To increase the volume, rotate the VOLUME dial clockwise.
2. To decrease the volume, rotate the VOLUME dial anti-clockwise.
WARNING: Check the volume level before playing music to prevent children, those who are inrm
or pregnant women, from being shocked by the sudden and loud sound emitted from the Radio.
IMPORTANT: Using the Radio for an extended period at high volumes can cause the Radio to
overheat and may cause damage to the internal components. DO NOT operate the Radio at a high
volume for extended periods of time.
Switching Between Audio Modes
The Radio has several different functions for audio playback. To select between DAB mode, FM
mode, Bluetooth®mode and AUX mode, follow the steps below.
1. In standby mode, press and hold the MODE button for approximately 2 seconds. The Radio
will automatically enter one of the four different audio modes.
2. Cycle through the audio modes by pressing the MODE button repeatedly until the desired
function is shown on the LCD display.

FM Mode
The Radio features a built-in FM tuner with an auto-tuning function and a 20-station programmable
memory.
Preparing the Antenna
On the rear panel of the Radio, there is a telescopic antenna, which is held in place by the antenna
clip.
1. Gently pull the antenna out and away from the antenna clip.
IMPORTANT: Do not to apply an excessive amount of force when unclipping the antenna, as this
may dislodge the antenna completely from the main unit.
2. For the best FM reception, lengthen the telescopic antenna to full extension.
Listening to FM Radio
1. In standby mode, press and hold the MODE button for approximately 2 seconds. The Radio
will automatically enter one of the four different audio modes.
2. Cycle through the audio modes by pressing the MODE button repeatedly until “FM Mode” is
shown on the LCD display.
3. Tune the FM radio by using the auto-tuning function, or by manually tuning the frequency (see
page 15 for further details).
4. To turn off the FM radio, follow the steps below.
• Press the MODE button to enter a different audio mode; or
• Press and hold the MODE button to set the Radio into standby mode.
Navigating the FM Radio Menu
Press the MENU button to enter the FM radio menu. Press the or button to scroll through the
menu options. Press the button to conrm the selection.
Scan Setting
• All stations - During the auto-tuning, the Radio will save all frequencies that it can nd,
regardless of signal strength.
• Strong Station - During the auto-search, the Radio will only save frequencies that have a very
strong signal.

NOTE: The radio station presets will not be retained in memory when the radio is disconnected
from the mains supply.
System
• Factory Reset – Restore the Radio back to its original factory default settings. The settings for
time, date and presets will be deleted from memory.
• SW version – View the current software version of the Radio.
Audio Setting
• Forced mono – Use one single audio channel.
• Stereo allowed – Use two audio channels.
For normal FM radio listening experience, select stereo. If the FM station is weak and noisy, select
Mono to disable stereo detection and improve the quality of the reception. When Stereo is selected
and a stereo signal is being received, the ‘ST’ icon will be shown on the LCD display. When Mono is
selected, there is no indication on the LCD display.
FM Auto-tuning
1. Press the SCAN button to perform an auto-tune from 87.5MHz upwards. The rst 20 stations
found will be stored in memory as preset stations (labelled as P1 to P20).
NOTE: Depending on the area the Radio is located, you may need to either adjust the antenna
position or the Radio location to gain better reception.
NOTE: Stations with a weak signal can only be tuned in manually.
2. To navigate through the all preset stations, press the or button to scroll through all preset
stations.
FM Manual-tuning
Rotate the TUNING dial clockwise or anti-clockwise to search up or down the FM band by 0.05MHz
increments.
NOTE: Depending on the area the Radio is located, you may need to either adjust the antenna
position or the Radio location to gain better reception.

DAB Mode
The Radio features a built-in DAB+ (Digital Audio Broadcasting) tuner, allowing you to listen to the
digital radio stations within VHF Band III available in your location. In this mode, the LCD display will
show information about the digital radio station, music title, etc.
Preparing the Antenna
On the rear panel of the Radio, there is a telescopic antenna, which is held in place by the antenna
clip.
1. Gently pull the antenna out and away from the antenna clip.
IMPORTANT: Do not to apply an excessive amount of force when unclipping the antenna, as this
may dislodge the antenna completely from the main unit.
2. For best DAB reception, lengthen the telescopic antenna to full extension.
Listening to DAB Radio
1. In standby mode, press and hold the MODE button for approximately 2 seconds. The Radio
will automatically enter one of the four different audio modes.
2. Cycle through the audio modes by pressing the MODE button repeatedly until “DAB Mode” is
shown on the LCD display.
3. If the radio has been used before, the last used station will be selected. If this is the rst time that
DAB mode is used, a quick scan of the Band III DAB+ channels will be carried out as soon as the
unit is set to DAB mode (see page 17 for details).
4. To play a DAB+ station, use TUNING dial, or the or buttons to scroll through the list
of available DAB+ radio stations. Press the button or simply stay on the selection for
approximately 3 seconds, the Radio will start to play the highlighted station. (The LCD display
may show 'Connecting...' while the Radio re-tunes).
NOTE: When playing a DAB+ radio station, the LCD display normally shows the name of the
current station with other related information.
5. To turn off the DAB mode, follow the steps below.
• Press the MODE button to enter a different audio mode; or
• Press and hold the MODE button to set the Radio into standby mode.

Navigating the DAB Radio Menu
Press the MENU button to enter the DAB menu. Press the or button to scroll through the
menu options. Press the button to conrm the selection.
Full Scan
Perform an automatic scan and save for all available digital radio stations in your area.
1. In the DAB menu, select "Full Scan", the LCD display will show 'Scanning'. During the auto
scanning process, as new stations are detected the station counter will increase and the stations
will be added to the list which is stored in the radio. The bar graph indicates the progress of the
scan.
NOTE: You can use this function to refresh your channel list or to scan for new available stations.
2. When the auto scanning process is complete, the Radio will list the stations found in numeric-
alpha order, unless it has previously been tuned to a DAB station.
NOTE: If the station list is still empty after the scan the LCD display will show 'NO DAB Stations'.
If no stations are found it may be necessary to relocate your radio to a position giving better
reception. Check your reception coverage in your area by visiting:
http://www.digitalradioplus.com.au/can-i-get-digital-radio and entering your postcode. This
Radio is suitable for areas with Good Reception. If your address does not have Good Reception
you may not be able to pick up all digital stations with this Radio.
Manual Tune
Manual tuning allows you to tune your radio to a particular DAB frequency within the VHF Band III.
Any new stations found will be added to the station list. This function can also be used to assist the
positioning of the aerial or radio to optimise reception for a specic channel or frequency.
1. In the DAB menu, select "Manual Tune".
2. Press the or button to search up or down the VHF Band III.
3. Once the desired station is found, press the button to conrm selection.
DRC (Dynamic Range Compression)
The DRC function can make quieter sounds easier to hear when your radio is used in a noisy
environment.
• DRC off – Turn off the audio dynamic range compression.
• DRC low – Set the audio dynamic range compression to a low level.
• DRC high - Set the audio dynamic range compression to a high level.

NOTE: Not all DAB broadcasts are able to use the DRC function. If the broadcast does not
support DRC, then the DRC setting in the radio will have no effect.
Prune
This function removes all invalid stations indicated with a ‘?’ in front of the station name. Invalid
stations are stations that are no longer available because either you have moved to a new area, the
station no longer exists/has stopped broadcasting, or the station has changed frequency.
• No – Leave all saved DAB+ stations on the Radio.
• Yes – Delete saved DAB+ stations on the Radio.
System
• Factory Reset – Restore the Radio back to its original factory default settings. The settings for
time, date and presets will be deleted from memory.
• SW version – View the current software version of the Radio.
Bluetooth®Mode
The Radio features a Bluetooth®receiver which enables it to be wirelessly connected to compatible
Bluetooth®enabled devices such as smart phones and Bluetooth®enabled media players. To pair the
Radio with a compatible Bluetooth®enabled device, follow the steps below.
1. In standby mode, press and hold the MODE button for approximately 2 seconds. The Radio
will automatically enter one of the four different audio modes.
2. Cycle through the audio modes by pressing the MODE button repeatedly until “Bluetooth”
is shown on the LCD display. “BT DISCONNECTED” will also be ashing on the LCD display,
indicating that the Radio is now in pairing mode.
IMPORTANT: If the LCD display shows “BT CONNECTED”, this means that the last connected
device is within the Bluetooth®reception range of the Radio, you will not be able to pair a new
device to the Radio. You will need to turn off the Bluetooth®connection on the last connected
device in order to connect a new device.
3. On the Bluetooth®enabled device, activate (or turn ON) the Bluetooth®function, and search for
nearby devices. When the device discovers “Signify Retro Radio”, select and connect to “Signify
Retro Radio”. This process should take a few seconds to connect – no PIN or pass code will be
required.
4. When the Radio and the Bluetooth®enabled device have connected, the LCD display will show
“BT CONNECTED”, and the Bluetooth®enabled device should also show “Signify Retro Radio”
as “Connected”.

5. Open the media player on the Bluetooth®enabled device to stream the desired tracks through
the Radio’s inbuilt speakers.

If the current playing track is more than 2 seconds from the beginning, pressing the button
once will simply restart the track. If the currently playing track is less than 2 seconds from the
beginning, pressing the button once will skip to the previous track.
When listening to tracks via Bluetooth®, always be aware that you may need to adjust the
volume on both the Radio AND the Bluetooth®enabled device to reach the required volume
level.
Disconnecting and Reconnecting the Bluetooth®Enabled Device
To end the connection between the Bluetooth®enabled device and the Radio follow the steps below.
1. Press the MODE button to enter a different audio mode; or
2. Press and hold the MODE button to set the Radio into standby mode; or
3. On the Bluetooth®enabled device, select “Signify Retro Radio” and then “Disconnect” or “Forget
This Device”; or
4. Simply turn Bluetooth®function off on the Bluetooth®enabled device.
NOTE: If Bluetooth®is activated on both the Radio and the Bluetooth®enabled device once again,
the Radio may automatically reconnect to the Bluetooth®enabled device. If this does happen,
the Bluetooth®enabled device will show as being connected to “Signify Retro Radio” and the
LCD display on the Radio will show “BT CONNECTED”. This will mean that the tracks on the
Bluetooth®enabled device can now be streamed through the Radio immediately.
Automatic reconnection will ONLY happen if:
1. The Bluetooth®enabled device was the last device that the Radio was connected.

2. The Bluetooth®enabled device has maintained “Signify Retro Radio” as one of its paired devices
(the device should show a list of paired devices in the Bluetooth®menu or settings).
3. The Bluetooth®enabled device and the Radio are in close proximity to one another. Generally
Bluetooth®is only operable over an unobstructed distance of approximately 10m.
Tips for Operating Bluetooth®Connection
1. When pairing the Radio with your Bluetooth®enabled device, please place the Bluetooth®
enabled device as close as possible to the Radio.
2. The Bluetooth®connection may not work well due to the below:
• There is an obstacle between the Radio and the Bluetooth®enabled device.
• There is a device using the same Bluetooth®frequency as the Radio such as medical
equipment, microwave ovens or wireless LAN devices.
• Pairing is limited to one Bluetooth®enable device. Multi-pairing is not supported.
AUX Mode
The Radio features an auxiliary input (AUX IN) which allows a device such as a smart phone, tablet,
computer or other auxiliary compatible devices to be connected to the Radio via an auxiliary cable
(not included). To connect the Radio to a device to via the auxiliary input, follow the steps below.
1. Plug the auxiliary cable (not included) into the auxiliary input, located on the rear of the Radio.
2. Plug the other end of the auxiliary cable (not included) into the desired media device.
3. In standby mode, press and hold the MODE button for approximately 2 seconds. The Radio
will automatically enter one of the four different audio modes.
4. Cycle through the audio modes by pressing the MODE button repeatedly until “AUX Mode” is
shown on the LCD display.
5. Open the media player on the connected device to play the desired tracks through the Radio’s
inbuilt speakers.
