By purchasing the SilverCrest SSM 600 A1 table-top blender, hereinafter referred to as the blender, you
have opted for a quality product.
Before first using it, familiarise yourself with the way the blender works and read these operating
instructions through carefully. Be careful to follow the safety instructions and only use the blender as
described in the operating instructions and for the applications given.
Keep these operating instructions in a safe place. If you pass the blender on to someone else, make sure
to give them all the relevant documents with it.
1. Intended use
This blender is suitable exclusively for use indoors, in dry, sealed spaces.
Always make sure the blender is on a stable surface.
The blender is exclusively designed for mixing, pureeing and stirring soft ingredients and crushing ice
cubes in private households.
This blender is not intended for commercial use.
The blender may not be used to grind or chop nuts, seeds or stalks or to process hot or boiling foods. It
must also not be used to reduce the grain of sugar or salt. Non-food substances should also not be
processed.
The blender fulfils all relevant norms and standards associated with CE Conformity. Any modifications to
the device other than recommended changes by the manufacturer may result in these standards no longer
being met.

Children and persons with disabilities
This device is not to be used by children. The device and its power
cord should be kept out of the reach of children. Devices may be
used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities and/or who have no experience in, or knowledge of,
using such devices providing they are supervised or have been
instructed in how to use the device safely and have understood the
associated risks. Children must not play with the device.
Risk of suffocation!
Packaging material is not a toy. Do not allow children to
play with plastic bags. There is a risk of suffocation.
Risk of falling objects!
Make sure that children cannot pull the device from the work
surface by the power cord (6). There is a danger of injury.
Keep the device out of the reach of children.

General safety instructions
Risk of electric shock!

The power cable (6) must not be damaged. Never
replace a damaged power cable (6), instead contact our
hotline (see "Warranty information" on page 21). There
is a risk of electric shock in the case of a damaged
power cable (6).
 Do not open the blender housing - it contains no
serviceable parts. Opening the housing can expose you
to the risk of electric shock.
 If you notice any smoke, unusual noises or strange
smells, switch off the device immediately and remove the
plug from the mains socket. If this occurs, do not continue
to use the device and have it checked out by an expert.
Never inhale smoke from a possible device fire. If you do
inadvertently inhale smoke, seek medical attention.
Smoke inhalation can be damaging to your health.
 Make sure that the power cable (6) cannot be damaged
by sharp edges or hot spots. After use, always wind the
power cable (6) back around the cord wrap (9)
underneath the motor unit (7).
 Make sure that the power cable (6) cannot become
crushed or squashed.
 The device must always be disconnected from the mains
when left unsupervised and before assembly,

disassembly or cleaning.
 When disconnecting the mains plug from the mains
socket, always pull on the plug and never on the cable
itself.
 If you notice visible damage to the blender or the power
cable (6), switch off the device, remove the mains plug
from the mains socket, and contact customer service (see
"Warranty information" on page 21).
 Only connect the blender to a properly installed, easily
accessible mains socket whose mains voltage
corresponds to that on the rating plate. After connecting
the device, the mains socket must still be easily
accessible so that you can remove the mains plug quickly
in the event of an emergency.

Never immerse the motor unit (7), the power cord (6) or
the mains plug in water or other liquids. If liquid does
penetrate the motor unit (7), disconnect the plug from the
mains socket immediately and contact the hotline (see
"Warranty information" on page 21).
Warning about property damage

Do not leave the blender unattended while running so
you can react quickly in the case of hazards.
 If necessary, place something underneath the device, as
work-surfaces are sometimes treated with detergents
which could attack or even dissolve the non-slip feet (8).

Risk of overheating and fire

Only ever operate the blender with the blender jug (4)
filled and never empty.
 Do not use the device in direct sunlight or near heating
devices (heaters, stoves, ovens, etc.).
 Do not place hot or boiling foods in the blender jug (4).
Otherwise the motor unit (7) could overheat or the
blender jug (4) glass could crack. Always leave hot or
boiling foods to cool down first before adding them to
the blender jug (4) and processing with the blender.
Risk of injury

Check that the blender is perfect working order before
each use. If there is any visible damage, do not use the
blender. This applies in particular to the power cable (6),
the motor unit (7) and the blender jug (4).
 Never open the lid (2) while the blender is running.
Otherwise, rotating bits of food may be ejected with
great force.
 Never reach into the blender jug (4) while the blender is
running because the cutting blade is extremely sharp and
rotates quickly.
 Never insert cutlery or other stirring implements into the
blender jug (4) while the blender is running as the cutting
blades rotate very quickly and may cause considerable

damage and injury.
 Children shall be supervised to ensure that they do not
play with the blender.
 Be careful when handling the blender, emptying the
blender jug (4) and cleaning the device. The cutting
blades are extremely sharp.
 Always switch the blender off before removing the
blender jug (4) from the motor unit (7).
 Always switch the blender off and disconnect the mains
plug from the mains socket before changing accessories
or touching parts which move when in use.
 Always switch the blender off and wait for the motor to
stop before removing the blender jug (4) from the motor
unit (7).
6. Before you start
Unpack the device. First check whether all the parts are complete and undamaged (see "Package
contents" on page 4). If any items are missing or damaged, please phone our hotline (see "Warranty
information" on page 21). Keep the packaging material away from children and dispose of
appropriately.
7. Getting started
The blender jug (4) should be cleaned before first use. For more on this, please refer to the
"Maintenance/cleaning" section on page 17.
7.1 Setting up the blender
Warning!

Only use the device in dry, enclosed spaces. Never use it outdoors.

 Place the blender on an even and stable surface only. If the blender is not placed on an
even surface, it could tip over, possibly causing damage to property and injury.
 Make sure the power cable (6) is not in your working area. Otherwise, you could
accidentally pull on it and tip it over or make the blender fall off the work surface.
1. Fully unwind the power cable (6) and feed it through the notch on the bottom of the motor unit (7).
2. Place the motor unit (7) on an even, non-slip and dry surface. Do not connect the power cable (6)
plug to the mains socket yet!
8. Usage
8.1 Filling the blender jug
1. Remove the lid (2) and measuring cap (1) from the blender jug (4). To do this, twist the lid (2) gently
counterclockwise until the locks on the edge of the lid (2) are revealed and lift it upwards off the
blender jug (4).
2. Add the desired ingredients to the blender jug (4).
3. Place the lid (2) back on the blender jug (4). To do this, first twist the lid (2) gently counterclockwise
so that the locks on the edge of the lid (2) fit into the gaps on the blender jug (4).
4. Press the lid (2) onto the blender jug (4) and twist the lid (2) gently clockwise until it slots into place.
Make sure that the safety catch (3) also sits in the recess on the top of the handle of the blender jug
(4).
5. Place the measuring cap (1) in the opening of the lid (2) and lock the measuring cap (1) into
position. To do this, turn it in a clockwise direction.
8.2 Attaching the blender jug to the motor unit
Warning!
If the rotary switch (5) is set at one of the various power levels, the blender will power on as
soon as you place the blender jug (4) on the motor unit (7) and close the lid (2).
1. If the mains plug is connected to the mains socket, remove it from the mains socket.
2. Check that the blender's rotary switch (5) is in the OFF position.
3. Place the blender jug (4) on the motor unit (7) and lock it into position. To do this, first twist the
blender jug (4) such that the handle of the blender jug (4) is on the right hand side. Find the
arrow printed on the bottom of the blender jug (4). Align this arrow with the open padlock
symbol . Now lower the blender jug (4) onto the motor unit (7) and twist it clockwise until the
arrow is aligned with the locked padlock .
4. Connect the power cable (6) plug to a live mains socket.

Warning!
Make sure the power cable (6) is not in your working area. Otherwise you could pull it
inadvertently and knock the blender over.
8.3 Switching on / selecting speed
The blender can only be switched on once the blender jug (4) is properly locked into position,
correctly seated on the motor unit (7) and the lid (2) is closed.
1. Select the desired speed using the rotary switch (5).
Speeds 1 to 3 For mixing, blending and pureeing liquid or semi-solid foods
Speeds 3 to 5 For chopping and for more solid foods
Ice Crush/Clean For crushing ice and for short pulses at high speed. Also for cleaning the cutting
blades.
The rotary switch (5) does not remain engaged in this mode to avoid excess
strain on the motor. You should therefore only ever use this function for a very
brief period.
To crush ice, you should fill the blender jug (4) with a maximum of
180g of ice cubes. Otherwise the ice will not be perfectly crushed.
8.4 Filling the blender jug while the blender is running
Warning!

When the blender is running, only ever open the measuring cap (1) and not the entire
blender jug (4) lid (2). Otherwise rotating food could be catapulted out.
 When the measuring cap (1) is open, never insert cutlery or other items into the blender
jug (4). There is a danger of injury!
Proceed as follows to add ingredients while the blender is running:
1. Rotate the measuring cap (1) in an anti-clockwise direction and remove it.
2. Add the desired ingredients to the blender jug (4).
3. Close the measuring cap (1). To do so, insert it into the lid (2) and tighten in a clockwise direction.
8.5 Removing the blender jug from the motor unit
1. Place the rotary switch (5) in the Off position. If you are finished blending, disconnect the mains plug
from the mains socket.

2. Once the motor has stopped rotating, twist the blender jug (4) a little anticlockwise (the arrow on
the bottom of the blender jug (4) must point to the open padlock on the motor unit (7)).
3. Lift the blender jug (4) vertically off the motor unit (7).
8.6 General tips on using the blender
If you wish to process solid ingredients, cut them into small pieces first (approx. 2 to 3 cm).
To puree solid ingredients, gradually add small amounts into the blender jug (4) with the measuring
cap (1) open.
If you wish to mix liquid ingredients, start with just a little liquid. Then gradually add small amounts of
liquid into the blender jug (4) with the measuring cap open (1).
9. Sample recipes
This section contains some versatile recipes that can be altered to suit individual tastes by replacing certain
ingredients.
9.1 Mojo Picón
This spicy paprika sauce is a recipe from the Canary Islands and is served with potatoes boiled in their
skins with lots of coarse salt (Papas arrugadas) there. Also delicious with grilled meats or fish.
4 red peppers
1 – 2 chillies
1 clove of garlic
200ml olive oil
50ml white wine vinegar
Cumin
Paprika (sweet or hot to suit personal taste)
Salt
Chop the peppers into small pieces. Halve the chillies lengthways, remove and discard the seeds. Chop
finely. Place in the blender jug (4) together with the oil and vinegar. Peel the clove of garlic, press and
add to the jug.
Puree for approx. one minute on speed level 3.
Season with salt, paprika and cumin and stir through again briefly before serving.

9.2 Guacamole
This extremely healthy avocado cream is popular throughout the South America region. Whether served
with Mexican nachos or Argentinian steak, this green cream is a highlight for many dishes.
2 ripe avocados
2 tomatoes
2 – 4 cloves of garlic to suit personal taste
½ lime or lemon
Salt and pepper
Halve the avocados and remove the stone. Remove the flesh of the fruit from the skin with a tablespoon
and chop coarsely.
Place the avocados in the blender jug (4). Press the garlic and add to the jug as well. Squeeze the lime or
lemon and pour in the juice. Puree for approx. one minute on speed level 3. Season with salt and pepper,
add more lime juice and garlic to taste and stir through briefly. Transfer the avocado cream to a bowl.
Chop the tomatoes into small pieces and stir through the avocado cream by hand. Do not leave to stand
too long or the cream will go brown. Sprinkle with lemon or lime juice if necessary.
9.3 Piña Colada
The classic Caribbean cocktail made with pineapple and coconut.
For 1 cocktail:
100g ice cubes
5cl white rum
2cl dark rum
4cl cream
4cl coconut cream
10cl pineapple juice
Place the ice cubes in the blender jug (4) and crush at intervals in the "Ice Crush/Clean" position.
Place the crushed ice in a cocktail glass.
Place all other ingredients in the blender jug (4) and blend on speed 1 then beat on speed 3 until frothy.
Pour into the cocktail glass over the ice. Decorate with a pineapple wedge and cocktail cherry on the rim
of the glass and serve with a straw.

9.4 Frozen Cappuccino
100g ice cubes
1 cup of strong cold coffee
1 scoop of vanilla ice cream
Place the ice cubes in the blender jug (4) and crush at intervals in the "Ice Crush/Clean" position.
Add the vanilla ice cream and mix on speed 3. Add the cold coffee and blend briefly on speed 1.
Serve immediately.
9.5 Smoothie
Serves 4
350g berries (e.g. strawberries, raspberries, blueberries or blackberries)
1 banana
500ml orange juice
1 tbsp honey
Wash and clean the berries, halving the strawberries. Slice the banana and place all ingredients in the
blender jug (4). Mix for approx. 30 seconds on speed 4. Serve immediately.
Tip: Particularly delicious in summer with frozen berries. For this, first pulse the berries in the "Ice
Crush/Clean" position and then add the remaining ingredients and blend briefly on speed 4.
9.6 Bulgarian Tarator
Refreshingly light dish, especially tasty on hot summer days. Serve with fresh bread or jacket potatoes.
500g natural yoghurt
400g cucumber
4 cloves of garlic
1 bunch of dill
50g walnuts
50 ml olive oil
400ml cold water
Salt and pepper
Roughly chop the walnut halves on a chopping board with a knife. Slice the cucumbers and place in the
blender jug (4) with the yoghurt. Press and add the garlic. Cut the dill over the blender jug (4) with

scissors. Puree everything briefly on speed 4. Add the chopped nuts, water and olive oil and mix again
(speed 2 or 3). Season with salt and pepper.
Garnish with a little dill and a walnut half.
9.7 Tropical Shake
A refreshing cocktail for summer.
125 g ice cubes
50 ml orange juice
60 ml papaya juice
125 ml pineapple juice
½ small can of peaches with juice
Place the ice cubes in the blender jug (4) and crush at intervals in the "Ice Crush/Clean" position. Add the
remaining ingredients to the blender jug (4) and blend on speed 3.
9.8 Hawaii Mix
A lively cocktail for parties.
¼ l pineapple juice
¼ l rum
½ l milk
2 tbsp honey
4 bananas
Peel the bananas, place in the blender jug (4) and puree on speed 2. Add the remaining ingredients to
the blender jug (4) and blend on speed 1.
9.9 Banana Shake
The classic among shakes.
½ l milk
A little lemon juice
2 bananas
Approx. 1-2 tbsp sugar or vanilla sugar (depending on taste and how ripe the bananas are)
Peel the bananas, place in the blender jug (4) and puree on speed 2. Add the milk, lemon juice and sugar
little by little and blend until everything is evenly mixed.
Serve cold.

9.10 Cosmopolitan
Not just for the jazz club.
12ml Cointreau
25ml red berry juice
Juice of ½ lime
6 ice cubes
40ml vodka
Place the ice cubes in the blender jug (4) and crush at intervals in the "Ice Crush/Clean" position. Add the
remaining ingredients to the blender jug (4) and blend on speed 3.
10. After use
After use clean the blender as described in the "Maintenance / cleaning" section below. Wrap the power
cord (6) around the cord wrap (9) and store the blender in a safe and dust-free place.
10.1 Maintenance/cleaning
The blender jug (4) and the lid (2) are dishwasher-safe.
Risk of injury
Never reach into the blender jug (4) because the cutting blades are extremely sharp.
It is recommended that you clean the blender before first use and immediately after each use so that no
remnants of food can set in the blender jug (4).
The quickest and easiest way to clean the blender jug (4) inside is to rinse it briefly under the tap and then
proceed as follows:
1. Fill the blender jug (4) with approx. 750ml water.
2. Add a few drops of washing-up liquid, close the lid (2) and place the blender jug (4) on the motor
unit (7).
3. Connect the power cord (6) mains plug to a mains socket and move the rotary switch (5) to the "Ice
Crush/Clean" position several times.
4. Rinse the blender jug (4) out with plain water.
This will generally be sufficient to clean the cutting blades and the interior of the blender jug (4). If you
find it is not sufficient, proceed as described in the "Cleaning the blender jug manually" section below.

10.1.1 Cleaning the motor unit
Risk of electric shock!

Always remove the plug from the mains socket before cleaning the motor unit (7). Failure
to do so could cause an electric shock.
 Do not pour or spray any liquids onto the motor unit (7) and do not immerse it in water
or other liquids. This could cause short circuits which could cause electric shocks or burns.
Warning about property damage

Do not use abrasive or astringent detergents or tools which could scratch the motor unit
(7) surface. This could case damage to the motor unit (7) housing.
Clean the motor unit (7), plastic parts and the power cord (6) with a dry or damp cloth.
Dry the motor unit (7) well.
10.1.2 Cleaning the lid and the measuring cup
The lid (2) and measuring cup (1) can be rinsed as normal. Dry them thoroughly.
10.1.3 Cleaning the blender jug manually
Risk of injury
Never reach into the blender jug (4) because the cutting blades are extremely sharp.
You can rinse the blender jug (4) as normal. To remove stubborn dirt inside the blender jug (4) you can
use a long-handled dishwashing brush or bottle brush.
Then rinse it with clean water and dry it thoroughly.
For stubborn dirt, you can also disassemble the blender jug (4) as follows and then clean it.
10.1.4 Disassembling and cleaning the blender jug
Warning about property damage!

The sealing ring (B) is not dishwasher-safe.
 Do not disassemble the plastic base with cutting blade
(C). The cutting blade must stay attached to the plastic
base at any time.
1. Rotate the plastic base with the cutting blade (C) clockwise to
loosen it and separate it from the glass container (A) (see arrow).
Take care not to lose the sealing ring (B) in the process.
2. Clean the glass container (A) and the plastic base with cutting blade
(C) in the sink or dishwasher. The sealing ring (B) is not dishwasher-
safe.
