INSTRUCTIONS FOR
SIOUX AIR SANDER & POLISHER

AIR SUPPLY
The tool is designed to o erate at a roximately 90 ounds er square inch air ressure at the inlet to the 3/8 inch hose su lied with the
tool. Pi e and fittings should be a minimum of 1/2 inch diameter. The above illustration gives additional information. Note that hose fittings
must have inlet holes 9/32 inch or larger. The tool is designed for use with a filter and lubricator.
LUBRICATION
Fill the lubricator with Sioux No. 288 Air Motor Oil and set lubricator to 1-2 dro s er minute. The gear case is filled with 1 1/8 oz. of Sioux
No. 1198 Grease. After 100 hrs. of o eration, ull the gear case cover by removing the 4 screws directly above the s indle and ins ect for
lubrication. Re lace grease if necessary. Turn the s indle with the fingers before tightening the screws to make certain the gears are in
mesh. Caution: Disconnect tool from air line before changing discs or ads. After 40 hrs. of use, inject 2 or 3 shots of Cat. 1198 grease
through grease fitting
PLACING TOOL IN OPERATION
Drain water from the air com ressor and blow condensation from the air lines before each days o eration.
Place 20 to 30 dro s of Sioux No. 288 Air Motor Oil into the 3/8 inch inlet hose before using and twice daily thereafter.
Fasten sanding, grinding, and olishing ads securely.
LOSS OF POWER
Filter and inlet screen clogged.
Use of fittings with too small an inlet.
Use of an undersize hose.
Loss of air ressure.
Dirt in the tool.
Tool not lubricated.
Stuck governor.
Worn motor arts (vanes, end lates, cylinder). Vanes worn to 13/32 inch in. de th should be re laced.
SAFETY
1. Use goggles when sanding. Use clothing which will not catch on rotating arts.
2. Be certain that sanding discs, olishing ads, and .related equi ment are in good sha e and are securely fastened. Use ro er backing
ads for the size of the discs or olishing ads used.
3. Disconnect air before changing ads or discs.
