Introduction
Congratu ations on your purchase of the Wire ess Gigabit VPN Router N600
X5. The WLR-5001 is comp iant with 802.11a and 802.11n and up to 6 times
faster than standard 802.11g based routers whi e sti being compatib e with
802.11g & 802.11b devices. The WLR-5001 is not on y a Wire ess Access
Point, but a so doub es as a 4-port fu -dup ex Gigabit switch that connects
your wired-Ethernet devices together at 10/100/1000 Mbps speeds.
At 300 Mbps wire ess transmission rate, the Access Point bui t into the Router
uses advanced MIMO (Mu ti-Input, Mu ti-Output) techno ogy to transmit
mu tip e streams of data in a sing e wire ess channe , giving you seam ess
access to mu timedia content. The robust RF signa trave s farther, e iminates
dead spots and extends the network range. For data protection and privacy,
the WLR-5001 encodes a wire ess transmissions with WEP, WPA, or WPA2
encryption.
With the bui t-in DHCP Server & powerfu SPI firewa , the WLR-5001 protects
your computers against intruders and most known Internet attacks and a so
provides safe VPN pass-through. With the incredib e speed and QoS function
of 802.11n the WLR-5001 is idea for media-centric app ications ike streaming
video, gaming, and VoIP te ephony to run mu tip e media-intense data
streams through the network at the same time, with no degradation in
performance.
With Sitecom C oud Security, Sitecom goes one step further and ensures that
you can surf the Internet even more safe y, not on y on your PC, but on a
the devices in your home which you use to access the Internet. A the
Internet devices in your home are protected against the dangers of Internet
crimina ity.
You can use the WLR-5001 as a VPN c ient to access an externa VPN server
or you can configure the router as a VPN server to be ab e to access your
home network from any ocation using the Internet. With VPN techno ogy you
a ways make use of a high y secured and encrypted VPN tunne .

3 Cautions
This router’s design and manufacturer has your safety in mind. In order to
safe y and effective y use this router, p ease read the fo owing before usage.
3.1 Usage Cautions
The user shou d not modify this router. The environmenta temperature shou d
be within +5 ~ +35 degrees Ce sius.
3.2 Powe
The router’s power vo tage is DC 12V 1A.
When using this router, p ease connect the supp ied AC adapter or AC adapter
cab e to the router’s power jack. When p acing the adapter cab e, make sure it
can not get damaged or be subject to pressure. To reduce the risk of e ectric
shock, unp ug the adapter first before c eaning it. Never connect the adapter
to the router in a humid or dusty area. Do not rep ace the adapter or cab e’s
wire or connector.
3.3 Repai
If the router has a prob em, you shou d take it to an appointed repair centre
and et the specia ists do the repair. Never repair the router yourse f, you
might damage the router or endanger yourse f.
3.4 Disposing of the Route
When you dispose of the router, be sure to dispose it appropriate y. Some
countries may regu ate disposa of an e ectrica device, p ease consu t with
your oca authority.
3.5 Othe s
When using this router, p ease do not et it come into contact with water or
other iquids. If water is accidenta y spi ed on the router, p ease use a dry
c oth to absorb the spi age. E ectronic products are vu nerab e, when using
p ease avoid shaking or hitting the router, and do not press the buttons too
hard.

5 Network + System Requirements
To begin using the WLR-5001, make sure you meet the fo owing as minimum
requirements:
•PC/Notebook.
•Operating System – Microsoft Windows XP/2000/VISTA/7
•1 Free Ethernet port.
•WiFi card/USB dong e (802.11 b/g/n) – optiona .
•Externa xDSL (ADSL) or Cab e modem with an Ethernet port (RJ-45).
•PC with a Web-Browser (Internet Exp orer, Safari, Firefox, Opera)
•Ethernet compatib e CAT5e cab es.
6 WLR-5001 Placement
You can p ace the WLR-5001 on a desk or other f at surface, or you can mount
it on a wa . For optima performance, p ace your Wire ess Broadband Router
in the center of your home (or your office) in a ocation that is away from any
potentia source of interference, such as a meta wa or microwave oven. This
ocation must be c ose to a power connection and your ADSL/Cab e modem.

9 Bring up the WLR-5001
Connect the supp ied power-adapter to the power in et port and connect it to
a wa out et. Switch the WLR-5001 on by f ipping the switch on the back of
the device. The WLR-5001 automatica y enters the se f-test phase. During
se f-test phase, the Power LED wi be it continuous y to indicate that this
product is in norma operation.
10 Initial Setup WLR-5001
LOGIN procedure
1. OPEN your browser (e.g. Internet Exp orer).
2. Type http://192.168.0.1 in the address bar and press [Enter]

3. Type user name and password. The defau t username is admin, the
password can be found on the back abe on the bottom of your router.
4. C ick OK.
5. You wi see the home page of the WLR-5001.
The System status section a ows you to monitor the current status of your
router, the UP time, hardware information, seria number as we as firmware
version information is disp ayed here.

LAN settings
The LAN tab gives you the opportunity to change the IP settings of the WLR-
5001.
C ick <Apply> at the bottom of this screen to save any changes.
IP address 192.168.0.1. It is the router’s LAN IP address (Your LAN c ients
defau t gateway IP address).
IP Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0 Specify a Subnet Mask for your LAN segment.
802.1d Spanning Tree is Disab ed by defau t. If the 802.1d Spanning Tree
function is enab ed, this router wi use the spanning tree protoco to prevent
network oops.
DHCP Server Enab ed by defau t. You can enab e or disab e the DHCP server.
When DHCP is disab ed no ip-addresses are assigned to c ients and you have to
use static ip-addresses. When DHCP server is enab ed your computers wi be
assigned an ip-address automatica y unti the ease time expires.
Lease Time Forever. In the Lease Time setting you can specify the time period
that the DHCP ends an IP address to your LAN c ients. The DHCP wi change
your LAN c ient’s IP address when this time thresho d period is reached.

IP Address P l You can se ect a particu ar IP address range for your DHCP
server to issue IP addresses to your LAN C ients.

y ur PC(s) t have a static/fixed IP address, then y u’ll have t ch se
an IP address utside this IP address P l
D main Name You can specify a Domain Name for your LAN. Or just keep the
defau t (sitecomw r5001).
