Thank ou for purchasing NUBI 4.0, the wireless,
intelligent, Plug & Pla smoke screen securit device. It
can be used with an burglar s stem, pairing the device
with one internal siren.
OVERVIEW
The device is powered b a 3.6V AA size lithium batter
supplied with the product, such as SAFT LS14500. This
batter provides the necessar energ to the device for a
period of 10 ears. When the batter is about to run out,
the device will beep once ever 4 minutes.
NUBI 4.0 efficientl protects volumes up to 100 m3. The
smoke generated b NUBI 4.0 is based on incense and
does not produce toxic atmosphere as tested according to
the TLV-STEL directive EU 2017/164 and ACGIH. After use
the room must be ventilated before sta ing there.
The device is completel wireless, it is installed onl with
two dowels. In the same room where NUBI 4.0 is installed,
an internal burglar alarm siren is required. No
programming operations are required on the burglar alarm
control unit. The siren sound will be digitized during the
pairing operation at the installation phase. After pairing,
when the siren sounds and the NUBI 4.0 built-in PIR
detects the movement, the smoke deliver will start.
Thanks to digital learning, sounds other than the specific
paired siren will not produce an effect, even the sound of
the same siren model, but installed in a different room, will
not activate NUBI 4.0.
During the entire duration of the siren sound, NUBI 4.0 is
active waiting for its PIR to detect an movement to
activate the smoke emission, so it is possible to select two
different operating modes to decide when NUBI 4.0 returns
inactive after the siren ends to sound (see select operating
mode).
For the first 20 minutes after performing the siren pairing
operation, it is possible to carr out the device functional
check without causing smoke emission.
The smoke cartridge works onl once, the smoke
emission, when triggered, can no longer be interrupted.
The replacement of the smoke cartridge is ver simple, the
conductors of each cartridge end with the activation card
which will be easil plugged into the appropriate connector
on the motherboard.
NUBI 4.0 is a famil of products, in addition to the Plug &
Pla version, other models are available to be connected
to the alarm control panel through the inputs and outputs.

POSITIONING & SOUND CHECK
NUBI 4.0 can be easil installed on the
wall or even in a corner at a height
between 150 and 250 cm.
WARNING
Do not insert an obstacle at a distance of less
than 1.5 meters from the smoke outlet hole.
The best performance is achieved when the jet of smoke
coming out from NUBI 4.0 directl hits the floor, in this wa
the smoke will cool and spread better.
NUBI 4.0 Plug & Pla must be installed in the same room
where an internal siren is placed. In case ou have not an
internal siren in that room, ou can easil add it to our
burglar s stem.
Usuall the sound level of an internal siren in the same
room is enough to activate NUBI 4.0. Do not place NUBI
4.0 in particularl nois places and keep awa from strong
sound sources, such as television or speakers. Continuous
stress on strong sound sources will reduce batter life.
NUBI 4.0 remains in “sleep mode”, therefore with ver low
batter consumption, as long as the device receive a
sound level below 90dB. It is possible to check the sound
level of the threshold before definitivel fixing the device to
the wall, in the desired position.
To perform the sound check: open the device, insert the
batter on the motherboard without connecting the smoke
cartridge, then close the device.

Looking at the LEDs behind the upper slits, when red LED
is ON it means that the sound level is not enough to
activate the device, when the green LED is ON it means
instead that the device is detecting a sound level higher
than 90Db. It is essential for the operation that the siren
sound turns ON the green LED. The ideal condition to
obtain the maximum batter life is to observe the red LED
that remains ON in the presence of other sound sources,
especiall if used regularl .
Once the sound check has been performed, open
the device and remove the batter from the
motherboard.
INSTALLATION
After opening the top cover, fix the lower part of the box on
the wall using the holes (A).

Use the appropriate JUMPER. The operating mode selects
when NUBI 4.0 returns to "sleep mode" at the end of the
siren sound.
MODE 1 => Jumper pen
NUBI 4.0 will return to the "sleep mode" as soon as the
siren sound ends, regardless of the alarm duration.
MODE 2 => Jumper cl se
When the duration of the siren sound does not exceed that
recorded in the pairing phase, NUBI 4.0 will return to the
"sleep mode" as soon as the siren sound ends, like in
mode 1. When the duration of the siren sound exceeds
that recorded in the pairing phase, NUBI 4.0 will return to
"sleep mode" 5 minutes after the sound ends.

WARNING
Before mounting the smoke
canister, check the color of the
shock indicator. Do not mount the
smoke canister if the indicator is
stained red.
Insert the smoke canister in its support.
Plug the smoke canister connector on the appropriate one
placed on the motherboard
WARNING
Remove the batter from motherboard and wait at
least 10 seconds before plug the smoke canister.
Finall , close the device cover.

SIREN PAIRING
Perform this operation when both NUBI 4.0 and the siren
are fixed in the final position. Press and hold the pairing
button for 3 seconds, until the blue LED flashes and a
beep is emitted. NUBI 4.0 is now in pairing state.
Battery test: As soon as ou enter pairing state, the green
LED will light up for 5 seconds if the batter is charged, or
the red LED if it is exhausted.
Walk test: When NUBI 4.0 is in pairing state, it will beep
ever time the integrated infrared sensor detects
movement, allowing the detector's range to be tested. The
test ends as soon as the siren sound recording starts or
exited prematurel from the pairing state.
Exit pairing state: You can cancel the pairing state
before start recording the sound with a short press of the
pairing button. In this case, an previousl stored siren
pairing will not be erased from the memor .
Pairing the siren: NUBI 4.0 is read to digitize the sound
of the siren and will start recording as soon as it receives a
sound level higher than 90Db. If ou have chosen
operating mode 1 it is sufficient to pla the siren for at least
10 seconds, if instead ou have chosen mode 2, ou will
make it sound for the desired time, in an case greater
than 10 seconds.
Av id l ud n ises: To avoid the risk of false recordings,
avoid producing loud noises (> 90Db) during this
procedure.
Pairing results: After the siren stops sounding, check the
status of the LEDs. The flashing green LED shows that the
operation was successful, the flashing red LED shows an
error, slow flashing means that the sound level is too low,
fast flashing indicates that the sound level is too high. In
case of error, tr to repeat the pairing operation, if this
persists, take the corresponding countermeasures. The
LEDs sta ON for 1 minute, to switch them off prematurel ,
just short press the pairing button.
Operating test: You can test NUBI 4.0 without delivering
the smoke within 20 minutes of pairing. The test is
identical, regardless of the operating mode 1 or 2 selected.
If ou make the siren sound less than the recorded time,
when the siren sound ends ou will hear a series of beeps
for 8 seconds. If the siren sounds longer, when the siren
sound ends ou will hear a beep ever 8 seconds for 5
minutes. If within these 5 minutes the infrared sensor
detects movement, ou will hear a series of beeps for 8
seconds and the test ends. After performing a test, ou still
have 20 minutes to perform another one without activating
smoke. NUBI 4.0 will enter standard operating mode 20
minutes after pairing or after the last test.
OPERATING MODE
NUBI 4.0 is normall inactive in "sleep mode". When it
receives a sound level greater than 90dB that matches to
the paired siren, it switches to the "active state", so an
movement detected b the built-in PIR will activate the
smoke output.
NUBI 4.0 remains in the "active state" when the the siren
sounds and returns to "sleep mode" according to the
selected mode 1 or 2. In mode 1 (Jumper open) NUBI 4.0
back to "sleep mode" 3 seconds after the end of the siren
sound, regardless of its duration. In mode 2 (Jumper
closed) NUBI 4.0 behaves as in mode 1 onl if the duration
of the siren sound has not exceeded that recorded during
the pairing. If the siren sounds longer, it will return to
"sleep mode" 5 minutes after the end of the sound.
This allows to discriminate two situations: an alarm
occurred b user error, which then disarms it within a
reasonable time, or a true alarm that will last longer. During
the 5 minutes after the sound ends, NUBI 4.0 will emit a
short beep ever 10 seconds to indicate this condition,
useful especiall to the owner of the s stem.
When NUBI 4.0 back to "sleep mode" it emits a series of
beeps for 8 seconds.
SMOKE CANISTER REPLACEMENT
The empt smoke canister must be replaced onl with the
original spare part. The smoke canister is supplied with the
activation card connected to the ends of the wires. This
card has a connector to be plugged to the appropriate one
placed on the motherboard.
Rem ve the NUBI 4.0 battery and wait at least 10
sec nds bef re replacing the sm ke cartridge.
MAINTENANCE
Replace the smoke canister ever 4 ears using onl the
original spare part.
WARRANTY
SMARTEK s.r.l. It guarantees its products against all
manufacturing defects for a period of 30 months from the
production date shown on the label.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Before leaving, ventilate the rooms thoroughl after the
smoke has been delivered.
