1. THE NEW WASHING SYSTEM
T is new was ing mac ine is t e outcome of years of researc .
T e leading-edge design and t e quality of t e production processes used to manu-
facture t is product ensure it will give you many years of excellent service.
Its concept satisfies all current and future was ing requirements.
Its low water, power and deter ent consumption help protect the environment
and reduce runnin costs to a minimum.
Water and power consumption has been reduced in all pro rammes.
T ese results were ac ieved by means of a special washin system valid for all
programmes and all fabrics.
T e drum is fitted wit t ree external vanes t at keep t e water constantly circulating,
t ereby offering intensive and uniform was ing w ilst consuming less water.
T is ensures your laundry is was ed and treated wit utmost care.
The new washin system is so effective that normally dirty laundry can even be
cleaned without a pre-wash cycle.
Was ing times ave also been reduced.
Pre-was ing is only recommended for very dirty laundry.
Please read t e operating instructions wit care in order to take full advantage of all
t e features offered by t is was ing mac ine.

This manual is divided into paragraphs which provide a step-by-step description of
all the functions of the appliance. The instructions are easy to understand and are
accompanied by detailed illustrations.

concerning the use of your new washing machine.

2. SAFETY WARNINGS
Attention!
These warnin s are iven for safety reasons.
Please read them carefully before installin and usin the appliance.
T is manual forms an integral part of t e appliance and must t erefore be kept intact toget er wit t e
mac ine. Before using t e appliance, carefully read all t e instructions contained in t is manual. Instal-
lation must be performed by a qualified tec nician in compliance wit t e regulations in force. It as
been designed for domestic use and complies wit EEC Directives 72/23, 89/336 (including 92/31 and
93/68) currently in force. T e appliance is designed for t e following purpose: was ing linen or fabrics
declared by t eir manufacturers to be suitable for mac ine was ing by means of an appropriate sym-
bol. Any ot er use s all be considered improper. The manufacturer declines all responsibility for
uses other than those described above.
T e name plate featuring t e tec nical data, serial number and markings is visibly positioned on t e
inner edge of t e door. This name plate must never be removed.
Do not leaving discarded packaging materials unsupervised wit in t e ome. Separate t e various
packaging materials and take t em to t e nearest sorted waste collection centre.
The electrical and plumbin work require to install the appliance may only be performed by
qualified technicians.
T e appliance must be provided wit an eart connection in accordance wit t e electrical safety regu-
lations in force. The manufacturer declines all responsibility for dama e to persons or property
resultin from failure to earth the appliance or from a defective earth connection.
If t e appliance is not connected to t e electrical power supply by means of a plug, it is necessary to
install an isolation switc wit a contact opening gap of at least 3 mm.
T e plug on t e power cord and t e corresponding socket must be of t e same type and must conform
to t e regulations in force. C eck t at t e voltage and frequency of t e electrical power supply matc
t e ratings on t e name plate. Avoid using adaptors or s unt connections. Never unplug t e appliance
by pulling t e power cord.
The machine is only disconnected from the electrical power supply if the plu has been re-
moved from the socket or if the eneral switch has been turned off. After installation, the plu
must remain accessible.
T e appliance must always be connected to t e water supply wit new oses (supplied wit t e appli-
ance). Old oses must never be reused.
Make sure t e appliance does not lie on t e power cord.
Before use, make sure t e tub assembly as been released (see instructions).
If t e tub assembly as not been released, it may damage t e appliance or adjacent furniture or appli-
ances during t e spin cycle.
T e was ing mac ine must never be used in ve icles, on s ips or planes, or in special environmental
conditions suc as explosive or corrosive (powder, vapour and gas) atmosp eres or near explosive
and/or corrosive liquids.
Do not install t e was ing mac ine in areas subject to frosting. Frozen pipes may burst under pres-
sure.
Make sure t at t e drain ose is securely attached to the basin and cannot move.
If it is not securely fitted, t e repulsive force of t e water may detac it from t e basin and cause flood-
in .
W en attac ing t e ose to t e basin, make sure the water drains away rapidly and does not fill
the basin up.
Do not overload t e appliance.
Never use detergents containing solvents or c emicals.
These may dama e the machine and form poisonous fumes.
They may also catch fire and explode.

Do not was petrol-soaked garments in t e was ing mac ine. Make sure t ere are no inflammable
items (e.g.: lig ters, matc es, etc.) in pockets before was ing.
If volatile fluids ave been used to clean garments, make sure t at t e substances ave been removed
before loading t em in t e was ing mac ine.
Before loading garments for was ing, make sure t e pockets are empty, t e buttons securely fixed and
t e zips closed.
Do not was frayed or torn garments.
T e glass of t e door will eat up considerably w en was ing at elevated temperatures.
Make sure all the water has drained away before you open the door.
If water is present, only open t e door after draining it. If in doubt, read t e instructions manual.
The water in the machine is not drinkable!
Swallowing was ing mac ine detergents can cause lesions in your mout and t roat.
Before removing laundry from t e was ing mac ine, make sure the drum has stopped movin .
Always switc off t e appliance after use to avoid wasting electricity.
Leave t e door ajar between one was and t e next in order to keep t e gasket in good condition.
Prolon ed inactivity.
If t e mac ine is left inactive for a long period: disconnect t e mac ine from t e electricity and water
supplies and leave t e door ajar to prevent bad smells from forming.
In t e event of a fault, never attempt to repair the machine yourself. Disconnect t e appliance from
t e electrical power supply and s ut off t e water tap. T en call a qualified tec nician. Repairs may
only be performed by qualified technicians.
Repairs performed by unqualified people may be azardous for users.
Obsolete appliances must be rendered unusable: make sure that the door cannot be closed (to
prevent children from ettin trapped inside while playin and riskin their lives) and cut off
the power cord after unplu in it.
The appliance must then be taken to a sorted waste collection centre.
This appliance is intended for use by adults.
Do not allow c ildren to tamper wit t e controls or play wit t e was ing mac ine.
Do not allow children to approach the appliance while it is workin .
Keep children away from the appliance.
Small animals or c ildren may get inside t e was ing mac ine.
Always c eck t e inside of t e drum before use and do not allow children to play with the appli-

Fuse replacement
If t e mains lead of t is appliance is fitted wit a
BS 1363A 13amp fused plug, to c ange a fuse in
t is type of plug use an A.S.T.A. approved fuse to
BS 1362 type and proceed as follows:
1. Remove t e fuse cover (A) and fuse (B)
2. Fit replacement 13A fuse into fuse cover
3. Refit bot into plug
Important:
T e fuse cover must be refitted w en c anging a
fuse and if t e fuse cover is lost t e plug must not
be used until a correct replacement is fitted.
Correct replacement are identified by t e colour
insert or t e colour embossed in words on t e
base of t e plug.
Replacement fuse covers are available from your
local electrical store.
If t e appliance is provided wit a plugless supply cord:
• It is necessary to install in t e fixed wiring an all-pole disconnection device aving a gap be-
tween contacts of at least 3,5mm. After installation t e disconnection device as to be easy to
reac .
• T e connection to t e mains must be carried out by a qualified tec nician in accordance to t e
sc eme s own below and t e regulations in force

3. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Important !
The appliance must be installed by a specialised technician accordin to current re ulations.
The washin machine is very heavy. Take care when liftin it.
3.1 UNPACKING
T e inside of t e mac ine comprises a moving assembly w ic is blocked for transport purposes by t e screws
(A) located at t e rear of t e was ing mac ine.
4. Release t e assembly by removing t ese screws wit a 13 mm wrenc .
5. Remove t e screws (A) and relative spacers (B) from t e back of t e was ing mac ine.
6. To prevent water from entering t e mac ine or people from touc ing live components wit t eir fingers, close
the four holes left open by the screws with the supplied plastic plu s (C).
Attention!
• Do not turn t e mac ine upside down and do not place it on its side.
• Keep all t e components used to block t e drum assembly as t ey will be needed if you decide to move t e
appliance in future.
3.2 POSITIONING AND LEVELLING

• Carry out this operation carefully to prevent the washin machine from vibratin , eneratin noise or

• If the appliance is installed on a carpeted floor, ensure that the openin s on its underside are not ob-
structed.
• Make sure t e was ing mac ine does not touc walls, furniture, etc., w ile it is working.
• T e appliance must not be installed be ind a lockable door, or sliding door, or a door wit inge on t e oppo-
site side to t e tumble dryer

3.3 WATER SUPPLY CONNECTION
2. C eck t at inlet pressure lies between t e following values: 50-900kPa. For ig er
pressures, install a pressure reducer.
4. Connect t e cold water inlet ose (li ht blue ring nut) to t e cold water tap wit a ¾
gas t read, taking care to screw it firmly into place in order to prevent leaks. T e water
inlet ose must not be bent or crus ed and must not be replaced or cut.
5. If a hot water inlet is used, inlet water temperature must not exceed 60°C and t e
ose wit t e red ring nut must be connected to t e ot water tap.
Attention!
• If t e water pipe is new or as not been used for a long time, let a certain amount of water run before attac -
ing t e inlet ose. T is stops any deposits of sand and ot er impurities from clogging t e filters used by t e
mac ine to protect t e water inlet valves.
• T e new ose-set supplied wit t e appliance are to be used and t e old ose-set s ould not be reused.
3.4 DRAIN CONNECTION
3. Insert t e end of t e drain ose into a drain pipe aving an internal diameter of at least 4 cm and a eig t
ranging between 50 and 90 cm, or attac it (using t e relative curved plastic profile) to a basin or bat tub.
4. Always c eck t at t e end of t e drain ose is securely attac ed in order to prevent t e repulsive force of t e
water from moving it out of position.
Attention!
• Do not bend or obstruct t e ose as t is will reduce t e flow of water.
• Any extensions to t e drain ose must not exceed 1 metre, t ey must ave t e same internal diameter and
must not be obstructed in any way.
• In no case may t e end of t e drain ose be submerged in water.
3.5 ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
Before fitting t e plug into t e socket, make sure t at:

tions uarantee maximum safety.
• T is appliance complies wit EEC directive 89/336 of 3.5.89 (modified by EEC directive 92/31) relative to t e
elimination of radio interference.
• If t e power cord is damaged, only replace it wit an original spare part available from our service depart-
ment.
• Do not insert/remove the plu from the socket if your hands are wet.
• Remove the plu from the socket by rippin the plu and not the cord.

speed. T e following spin speeds are available:
• 0000: spin disabled and stop wit tub full. T e ma-
c ine does not perform t e final spin and ends t e

• from 600 rpm to the maximum speed indicated for
the model: for cotton and coloured programmes,
speed increases by 100 rpm starting from 600 rpm

woollens programmes, speed increases by 100 rpm

Quick wash Button
T is button reduces t e overall duration of t e was ing cycle. T is
option is used to was small loads or less dirty was ing in less time.
T e bleac stage is skipped w en t e Quick Was button is
pressed (for models wit bleac function).
Increase water button
T is was ing mac ine is programmed to use a certain quantity of
water and consume a certain amount of power considered to be suf-
ficient for a normal was ing cycle.
Only press this button for specific requirements, e.g.: for very
delicate fabrics (curtains or wool).
T e water level for was ing and rinsing rises and power consump-
tion for heatin increases.
Easy-iron button
T is option reduces creasing on garments at t e end of t e pro-
gramme. T e mac ine performs a more delicate spin cycle and
moves t e garments at t e end of t e programme. Spin speed for
all programmes is 600 rpm.
Economy cycle button

Press t is button for cottons programmes, the machine will per-
form an extended wash at 35°C (biolo ical step) thereby offer-
in ood washin performance combined with power savin .
The machine then continues the cycle at the selected tempera-
ture.

temperature of 60° C and elimination of t e pre-was cycle.
Extra Rinse button
In areas wit soft water or to improve rinsing, press t is button (op-
tional for intensive programmes) to enable t e extra rinse function
(about 20% more water).
Delicates button
Press t is button to reduce movement of t e drum and, conse-
quently, of t e was ing. Suitable for particularly delicate garments
(s irts, silk, curtains, etc.)
Half load button

If t e mac ine is used wit a smaller amount of was ing t an t at
indicated in t e “Programme C art”, press t is button to save water,
detergent and electricity.
T is option s ould not be used for synt etics or woollens.
The recommended doses of deter ents should be reduced in
proportion to the load.

pressed and indicate t at t e option as been selected. T ey
remain on until t e mac ine switc es off or a different selec-
tion is made.

“Start/Pause” button
Press t is button to start t e selected was ing programme.
During was ing, press t e “Start/Pause” button for about 3
seconds to pause t e was ing cycle. During t e pause, t e
“Time remaining” Led flas es and STOP appears on t e dis-
play. To resume t e was ing cycle from w ere it left off, sim-
ply press t e “Start/Pause” button again.

4.2 DETERGENT TRAY
T is is located to t e left of t e control panel. Pull it out to
open.
T e tray comprises four compartments w ic are marked as
follows
“1”: pre-was detergent
“2”: main was detergent
“” or “3”: fabric softener, starc , etc. (treatment products).
Compartment “4” is used for bleac . If t ere is a cover marked
, t is means t at bleac cannot be used wit t is model of
mac ine. If bleac can be used wit t e mac ine, t ere is no
cover.

5. WASHING INSTRUCTIONS
5.1 PREPARING THE WASHING
3. Separate t e was ing according to t e type and colourfastness of t e fabrics.

normally applied to garments giving information on ow to clean t em. A brief description of t ese labels is

• Do not was un emmed or torn garments as t ey may fray.
• Foreign bodies may damage garments or mac ine components. T erefore, empty all pockets and turn t em
inside out, remove rollers from curtains or put t em in a string bag.
• Put very small articles (belts, andkerc iefs, socks, bras wit stiffeners, etc.) into a w ite canvas bag. Close
pus buttons and zips and sew on dangling buttons.
• Modern detergents and correct was ing temperatures are generally sufficient to remove stains from fabrics.
However, some stubborn stains, suc as grass, fruit, egg, blood, rust and biro, s ould be pre-treated before
was ing. Dependin on the type of fabric, many stain removers can be found in the shops. Stains
should always be cleaned or diluted immediately as the older they et, the more difficult they are to
remove.
• Garments may be dama ed if fabric care symbols are not observed.
Wool – Only pure wool, identified by or wit t e label <<s rink-proof mac ine was able and dryable>> can

5.2 OPENING THE DOOR
T e mac ine is fitted wit a safety device t at prevents t e door from opening w ile it is working.

5.3 PREPARING THE WASHING
W ere possible, save electricity by washin full loads divided by type of fabric. Introduce loose was ing and
alternate large items wit small ones. For t e first few times, weig t e loads of was ing and t en rely on your

5.5 ADDING DETERGENT AND ADDITIVES
Follow t e instructions s own in t e “Programme C art” provided to-
get er wit t e manual and add detergent and any additives to t e
relative compartment before starting t e programme.
Pour t e pre-was powder detergent into t e compartment marked
“1”.
Pour main was detergent into compartment “2”. Mac ine accessories
include a red insert “A” t at can be placed inside compartment “2” to
allow liquid detergent to be used. T e additives are automatically in-
troduced into t e tub during final rinsing.
Pour liquid additives suc as starc and fabric softener into “3”,
marked wit .
If bleac can be used wit t e mac ine (no cover marked wit ) add bleac to compartment “4” if you wis .
The level of the liquids must not exceed the maximum limit, ot erwise t e trays will be emptied too soon.
Before pouring t ick additives into t e tray, dilute t em wit a little water to prevent t em from obstructing t e trap.
Only use foam-controlled detergent suitable for use in was ing mac ines.
Determine the quantity of deter ent accordin to the hardness of the water, and the type, quantity and
dirtiness of the washin .
T is will allow you to obtain t e required effect using as little detergent as possible.
Detergent packs indicate t e quantities to use according to 4 levels of ardness and for normally dirty loads of 4-5
kg.
Ask your local water board to tell you ow ard your water is.

5.7 DOSING LIQUID DETERGENTS

5.8 SCALE-REMOVERS
Scale-removers can be introduced into compartments “1” and “2” according to t e manufacturer's indications.
First, add t e detergent and t en t e scale-remover.
5.9 SWITCHING ON THE MACHINE AND SELECTING THE WASHING PROGRAMME
To switc on t e mac ine and select programmes, proceed as follows:

in temperature of all.
• If t e laundry is only slig tly dirty and does not need t e bleac ing effect of ig temperatures, a lower tem-
perature can be chosen to save power. In spite of t e low temperature and consequent saving of electric-
ity, an automatic time control keeps t e duration of t e main was ing unvaried compared wit t at of a ig
temperature programme. It is t erefore possible to successfully was normally dirty laundry at lower wash-
in temperatures t an t e maximum temperatures s own on t e fabric care labels.
5.10 MODIFYING STARTING PARAMETERS
5.10.1 SPIN SPEED
Press t e select spin speed button ( ), t e relative LED lig ts up and t e display visualises t e maximum speed
envisaged for t e selected was ing programme.
Press t e button repeatedly. Speed decreases by 100 rpm every time until t e spin cycle reac es 0 rpm and is
disabled.
5.10.2 OPTIONS
Use t e options buttons (indicated in c apter 4 – Description of controls, letter H) to enable mac ine options. A
selected option is ig lig ted by t e option LED located above t e button in question.
5.10.3 DELAYED START (O LY FOR MODELS FEATURI G THIS FU CTIO )
Press t e delayed start button ( ). T e relative LED located above t e button lig ts up.
T e display visualises t e time remaining ( ours/minutes) before t e selected was ing
programme starts: t e display initially s ows 0 ours 0 minutes for all programmes.
Press t e button repeatedly. T e Start delay increases by 30 minutes eac time it is
pressed for t e first 12 ours. After t at it increases to 60 minutes up to 24 ours.

5.12 INTERRUPTING OR CHANGING THE WASHING PROGRAMME

To continue draining and spinning, press t e spin select button twice. T e mac ine resumes t e cycle by draining
t e water and spinning.
To select spin speed, press t e button until t e required speed is displayed. If you wis to drain t e water in t e

5.15 END OF PROGRAMME BEEPER
W en a was ing cycle finis es, t e message END appears on t e display and a beepers sounds twice. To disable
t is signal, press t e second and t ird button from t e left simultaneously. T e message OFF immediately ap-
pears on t e display to indicate t at t e beeper as been disabled.
To enable t e end of programme beeper, repeat t e operation. T is time, t e message ON will appear on t e dis-
play.
T e appliance is supplied wit t e end of programme beeper enabled.

6. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Important – Before cleanin or servicin the machine, remove the plu from the socket.
6.1 EXTERNAL CLEANING
• Regular and constant cleaning will keep your appliance looking like new.
• Clean t e outer surfaces wit soap and water and t en dry t oroug ly wit a soft clot .
• Clean parts in plastic wit a damp clot .
• Do not scratc wit s arp objects and do not use solvents or abrasive products as t ese will damage t e
surface.
• For reasons of safety, never spray water onto the appliance.
6.2 CLEANING THE DRUM
• Remove any rust stains from t e drum wit a special cleaner for stainless steel or, for particularly stub-
born stains, wit extra fine abrasive paper.
• To remove scale from t e was ing mac ine, only use branded scale removers wit anti-corrosion agents
for was ing mac ines.
• Follow t e manufacturer's instructions and recommended quantities to t e letter.
• After removin scale or rust from the drum, perform a few rinse cycles to eliminate acid residues
as these may dama e the machine. Never use deter ents containin solvents. These may form
vapours that may catch fire and explode.
6.3 CLEANING THE DOOR GASKET
Periodically c eck t at no clips, buttons, nails or needles ave got caug t in t e folds of t e door gasket.
6.4 CLEANING THE DRAIN PUMP
Only clean t e drain pump if it is obstructed by buttons, airpins and t e like and t e water cannot drain.
In t is case, proceed as follows.
1. Remove the plu from the socket to disconnect the machine from the electrical power supply.
Fit a small screwdriver into t e slots in t e front of
t e base plate, t en gently prise t e screwdriver
up in order to release t e upper part of t e base
plate.
Incline t e base plate forwards a little and pull up
and to t e rig t to remove it completely.

4. Pull out t e drain ose “A”.
Attention: if t e ose is ot it means t e water is ot or boiling. Place a
tray on t e floor and remove t e plug “B” to drain t e water.
Depending on t e quantity of water, it may be necessary to empty t e
tray several times.
W en no more water comes out, pus t e ose back in and screw
back t e plug “B”.
6. Unscrew t e cover of t e pump “D” by turning it anti-clockwise.
Clean t e pump body and remove any foreign bodies.
C eck t e inside “E” and make sure t e impeller turns freely. If t ere are
any foreign bodies, remove t em.
7. Screw t e pump cover back on.
Fix t e drain ose by snapping t e plug into place «C».
Depending on t e model, put back t e cover as follows:
MODEL A – Insert t e lower part of t e cover first. T en secure it by turning t e plastic buttons a quarter
turn clockwise.
T e slots in t e buttons must be orizontal.
MODEL B – Insert t e lower part of t e cover first and t en pus it towards t e base plate until it clicks
into place.
6.5 CLEANING THE DETERGENT TRAY
Keep t e detergent tray free from scale.
To simplify t is operation, completely remove t e detergent tray (pull it out
as far as it will go, lift it slig tly and t en pull fairly vigorously).
Remove t e traps «B» (t ere are two traps if t e mac ine is not fitted wit a
cover for t e bleac compartment) and clean wit ot water.
Put back t e traps and remove any residues of detergent before putting t e
tray back.
6.6 CLEANING THE WATER INLET FILTER
T e mac ine is fitted wit a filter for protecting t e water inlet valves.
T e filter is fitted t e gas t read of t e inlet ose connected to t e tap
Clean t e filter if no water or insufficient quantities of water enter t e was ing mac ine.
To do t is, proceed as follows:
• Remove the plu from the socket to disconnect the machine from the
electrical power supply.
• Turn off t e water tap.
• Unscrew t e inlet ose from t e tap.
• Remove t e filter from t e inlet ose gas t read.
• Clean t e filter wit water and a brus .
• W en screwing t e inlet ose back on to t e tap, make sure t e filter is correctly positioned.
