Smokat Flow Filter Cigarette User manual

Main features
Smokat is an innovative filter which reduces the main smoke toxic
compounds. Smokat is subjected to 2001/95/CE standard (Dec. 3rd 2001) for
safety requirements and no CE mark is shown on the product.
Smokat is made by high quality metals.Manufacture is attained via precision
technologies. In fig.1 the main parts of Smokat are sketched:
Mouthpiece is the Smokat part in contact with mouth and lips by which
inhalation occurs. Mouthpiece is made by biocompatible materials and
its shape is ergonomic.
Ferrule for regulating filtering power;
Exhausted cigarette ejection system
Smokat filtering performances are based on the effect of a metallic pin coated
by a catalytic material: the cigarette is pierced by the metallic pin which reacts
with the cigarette exhausted /smoked) gas by a chemical/mechanical action.
Exhausted gas passes through calibrated holes. Holes trap nicotine and
residual smoke particulate. Holes are located on the metallic pin base. A
particular pin for “tube” type cigarette is also available. Smokat does not
change taste, odor and fragrance of inhaled smoke. Material Smokat is made
by, may also promote an antibacterial action. Smokat is disinfected and
cleaned by a proper washing and UV treatments.
Lab tests show the following Smokat filtering performances:
1. Thin particulate reduction up to 33%
2. Carbon monoxide reduction over80 %
3. Nicotine reduction over20%
Reduction of many other toxic gasescontent has also been attained.
Instruction
A proper usage of Smokat is required to get the best performances.Follow
instructions sketched in fig.2:
A. Hold the cigarette by the filter
B. Insert the cigarette into Smokat. Be sure that:
a. metallic pin completely pierces cigarette filter;
b. cigarette filter perfectly lies on pin base where calibrated holes
are located.
The correct insertion procedure produces a typical mark on the the
smoked cigarette filter: 4 signs located around a circle, a fifth sign
located at the circle center.
C. Eject the cigarette by pushing the mouthpiece.

Maintenance
Catalyzer metal pin (see n°4 on fig. 1) cleaning is recommended every 20/30
cigarettes in order to maintain optimum filtering performance. Proper cleaning
eliminates any residual toxic compound and completely reintegratesSmokat
performances.
Two cleaning methods may be followed:
1 Fast cleaning:
2 Deep cleaning.
Method n°1 requires no Smokat disassembling and inner parts may be
cleaned through the mouthpiece hole. Method n°2 requires to unscrew the
Smokat external body to access to the catalyzer metal pin.
Smokat is equipped with a cleaning device made by high quality metals
whichmay be used for both cleaning methods. The cleaning device is
composed by interchangeabletools: a brush which may be unscrewed and
substituted with a single use commercial cigarette filter (5mm) working as
cleaner. General cleaning products can be anyway used.
Cleaning device and tools
In fig.4 the cleaning device with both tools is sketched: brush on the left and
single use filter on the right.
General cleaner products
In fig.5 general products for cleaning aresketched: towels, cleaning paper,
cotton bud.
Examples of deep cleaning
1. towel
Disassemble Smokat into its parts illustrated in fig. 1. Clean each part of
Smokat with a towel/tissue/handkerchief by brushing till any smoke remnants
is removed. Be attention to clean the catalyser pin base in order to uncork the
inhalation holes. Insert a towel/tissue/handkerchief corner into the ferrule and
brush by a swinging movement in order to clean inner surfaces. Repeat the
last operation for the mouthpiece. Verify evident smoke remnants on
towel/tissue/handkerchief as a proof of proper cleaning.Reassemble Smokat
for further usage.
2. Brush
In this case disassembling Smokat is not required. Use the Cleaner device
equipped with brush as shown on the following figures. Brush is screwed into
cleaning device metal body. After cleaning, unscrew the pipe cleaner and
clean it in turn by 90% alcohol and/or warm water. This method may be used
both for fast and deep cleaning. Brush may be substituted with a common

single use cigarette filter available on the market; in this case cleaning
procedure is described on 3rd method.
3. Single use cigarette filter
Brush can be substituted by a single use absorbent cigarette filter (5mm).
Disassembling Smokat is not required again. In this case Brushing action is
provided by the filter. The phases for cleaning are reported in the following
figures. This method may be used both for fast and deep cleaning.
4. Cotton bud
This method may be used both for fast and deep cleaning: for deep cleaning
Smokat disassembling is required. As illustrated on the following figures use
a cotton bed as a pipe cleanere to remove smoke remnants from any part of
Smokat especially from catalyser pin and inhalation holes. Before cleaning it
is recommended to soak the cotton bud on 50% alcohol.
5. Washing- deep claning
Disassemble Smokat into its parts illustrated. Soak only the metal pin into a
alcohol bath for 6 hours at least. Alcohol must be enough to completely
overlay the metal pin. After alcohol bath wash the metal pin by warm water to
remove alcohol remnants which could change smoke fragrance. It is
recommended to repeat such a method any 20 cigarettes. Watch how to do
on the linked video.
