Description
Housing Sections
1 left section

Center sections- quantity depends on
the system width
Insert- they nest between the Right,
Left and Center sections on wide
systems
Top Housing Gussets
Quantity depends on the width and
height of the system. Your system may
not require gussets.
Pre-installed on systems over 9’ wide
and mount above 12’.
Quantity depends on the width of your
system and changes the configuration
of the assembly.
Single motor systems have a spline
and 1 end cap for attaching a fixed or
floating end plate and 1 motor.
Dual motor systems require 2 Splines
and no End Cap, but 2 motors
Tube couplers combine long sections
of the curtain tube together. Quantity
depends on your systems width

Primary control:

Right Front Housing Cover
Bottom Bar Assembly:
Adds weight for the curtain to fall by
gravity once all AC and DC power is
lost.
Contains several sections of the
following pieces (these pieces will vary
in length): Front, Back and Bottom
Use Two End plugs to cap both ends
of the bottom bar once assembly is
complete.
Bottom Bar Assembly- Cut view
Bottom Bar Assembly:
3 sections make up the bottom bar
assembly. Std sections are 9’. The
number of sections depend on the
system width. See Layout sheet for
details.
2 Guide Rod Bushing assemblies
Guide Rod Bushings:
Attaches the curtain to the guide rods
Includes a brass bushing that fits
around the guide rod
Attach 1 to both ends of the Bottom

Side Guide Sections
Side Guide Sections:
Number of sections depend on height
of the system.
Guide Channel- Base of the guide
assembly.
Guide covers- side specific, top of the
covers include a dead stop.
Dead Stops- side specific, engages
with the Curtain Bottom Bar and
prevents the curtain from retracting
any farther.
The bottom of the guide has a metal
plate to install the Guide Rod.
Guide Rod include a washer and
shoulder bolt that installs to the bottom
of the Main Guide Section.

Guide Rod sections:
Quantity depends on the height of the
unit.
Join sections of guide rod with pre-
installed couplers if needed.
The Guide Rod sits above the Main
Guide Channel by 4.5’’. The top of the
Rod is tapered so the curtain can
safely travel over it. Both Guide Rods
and Covers fit inside the corners of the
housing to capture the curtain and
guide the assembly up and down
during normal operation.

Quantity of Center and Insert front
covers depend on the system width.
Left, Right and Center Housing Covers
are part specific and are the first
covers to install.
For large systems, install front covers
into the nested sections second. The
nested sections are the last to install

Bottom Covers:
Attach to the bottom of the front covers
and gussets. Right and Left covers are
side specific with notches on each end
section to clear the side guides.
Rear Housing Covers
Rear Housing Covers:
Quantity of trim depends on the length
of your system.
Right and Left covers are side specific.
Use connectors to combine
sections of the covers.

Sensing Edge Components

Sensing edge Components:
Sensing Edge Strip is cut to
length for each system and
wired to the transmitter.
Transmitter installs into the
pocket of the curtain and is
powered by two AA batteries.
The Receiver is located in the
Low Voltage junction box on the
right front cover.
Each Transmitter is paired with
a Receiver at the factory and
specific to each system.

Staging and Site Verification
ELECTRICAL
Prior to beginning installation, verify that the electrical contractor has completed the
required circuits from the unit to the location where you will install the Control Box,
as determined by the general contractor. Refer to Model 2500 Electrician’s Guide
and Layout Sheet for details and locations.
VERIFY DIMENSIONS
Re-measure mounting surfaces and correct any framing and finishing variances.
Verify side profiles and re-build framing as necessary according to print. All site
alterations must be completed BEFORE hardware is installed.
VERIFY MATERIALS
Locate all documentation including Installation Manual, Layout Sheets, Installation
Sequence Checklist, and BOM. Use the packing list to verify all parts required for
install are enclosed.
STAGING PARTS
The top and back of the Housing are comprised of sections, the number of which
depends on the width of the system. There is a left section, a right section, and
center sections that telescope to fit the opening. In addition, for very wide systems
there are inserts to span the distance between sections.

Verify Clear openings
Use below housing and Side Guide dimensions to verify your system fits into the
provided header or install areas. See Layout Sheets for your complete system
dimensions.
Housing dimensions for systems mounting below 12’ = 9’’ deep x10’’ tall
Housing dimensions for systems mounting over 12’ = 10 ½’’ deep x 11 ¾’’ tall
Side pockets for recessed guides
If the guides are to be recessed into a pocket, verify that a guide with the following
dimensions will fit in the pocket:
°Width: 3 in.
°Depth: 3 ½ in.

Installing Housing Sections
The top and back of the Housing are comprised of sections, the number of which
depends on the width of the system. There is a left section, a right section, and
center sections that telescope to fit the opening. In addition, for very wide systems
there are inserts to span the distance between sections. See Housing Layout Sheet
for proper system layout before installing sections.
IMPORTANT: For systems with more than 1 center section:
The housing sections have a lip that sits at the top, front of the housing when it is
installed. The lips have gaps for Gussets. It is important for proper operation that the
Curtain seams line up with the Gussets.
Lay out the Housing sections and the Curtain prior to installing the Housing sections.
Since the various sections overlap to adjust to the size of your system, make sure
that the anchor locations are determined so that the Curtain seams will line up with
the Gussets. Reference Layout sheet; Housing Gussets should align with seams
that make up the curtain.

Top gussets
For a FIXED motor system under 9’ without gussets:
1. Using the provided Layout sheet lay out the housing sections accordingly.
Install the right and left sides first, ensuring both sections are level and plumb
with the mounting surface. Reference below drawing to locate anchor points.
2. Ensure Housing sections are level.
3. Secure through pre-drilled holes into a fire rated wall structure using appropriate
anchors. See drawings below to reference anchor locations.

1. Repeat sequence with the right section ensuring that it aligns with the clear
opening height and width.
2. Verify that the overall width is within ¼” of specification on the Layout Sheet.
3. Insert the center section between the two end sections and secure through
predrilled holes with appropriate anchors.
Installing Housing with Gussets for systems over 9’:
If your system has gussets, the housing will already have the back potion of the
gusset riveted in their designated housing area. The gussets line up with the curtain
seams, which are spaced an equal distance apart.
1. Using the provided Layout sheet, layout housing sections accordingly. Install
the right and left sides first, ensuring both sections are level and plumb.
Reference below drawing to locate anchor points.
2. Verify that the overall width is within 1/8’’ of specifications.
3. Install the remaining center sections to dimensional locations as specified.
Center sections may overlap and nest inside both right and left sections Align
with the top of the clear opening.
NOTE: Any variation in this setup dimension can cause the Curtain to seriously
malfunction.

Installing Housing with Gussets for systems over 20’:
If your system has multiple inserts install the primary sections with gussets
before installing the inserts that nest inside the primary sections of housing. The
housing will already have the back portion of the gusset riveted in their
designated housing area. The gussets line up with the curtain seams, which are
spaced an equal distance apart. Reference picture below, this is a generic
depiction of a large system with multiple inserts.
1. Use previous steps to install primary sections according to your Layout Sheet.
Locate one Gusset Assembly for each center section and secure to the fire
rated wall through the pre-drilled holes in the center using appropriate anchors.
2. Locate Housing Insert sections and install/nest each one between the primary
sections with the Gussets. Center the inserts so you have an equal amount of
overlapping onto the primary sections.
3. Secure inserts to the fire rated wall through the predrilled holes using appropriate
anchors.

Assembling Curtain Tube
The curtain tube comes in sections. One of the sections has a drive spline riveted
inside the tube 18” from the end. This is the Primary Motor End and will be the right
side of the Curtain Tube. Extend tube sections with couplers and rivets to secure into
place. Assemble the curtain tube sections on a level surface.
Parts needed:
Curtain tube sections
Joiner/coupler – factory installed
Tube end – factory installed
NOTE: For SINGLE Motor systems less than 9’ wide, the Curtain Tube is one piece
and the Curtain is pre-installed. Skip to Installing Curtain Assembly.
To assemble the curtain tube longer than 9’:
1. Locate the Curtain Tube sections and lay on the floor with the opening containing
the plastic motor sleeve to the right and the overlapping Joiner sections aligned
with open ends of the other sections.
2. Insert the Joiner inside the adjacent Curtain Tube sections. Seat it completely by
carefully tapping the end of the Tube section
3. Align the weld lines at each joining section of Curtain tube. This line will be a
reference when attaching the curtain to the tubing.

4. Pop-rivet through the tube into the Joiner at 6 locations on each tube section,
two rows at 120 degrees.
5. Continue to assemble the remaining Tube sections in sequence. The section
with drive spline pop-riveted 18” from end should be the right most tube section.
Dual-motor systems will have a drive spline at each end of the curtain tube.
For a DUAL Motor system 20’ wide or Greater:
1. Locate the ends of each Tube sections containing the white plastic motor sleeves and
lay out on the floor toward the outer ends of the Curtain Assembly.
2. Seat all filler sections with overlap Joiners and Pop-rivet in 6 places as described
above.

Find a level space with enough room to lay out the tube and the curtain.

To attach the curtain:
1. Lay the Curtain out flat on a clean, flat surface.
Note: The rough, un-seamed edge of the curtain is the top and the pocketed edge is the
bottom. Lay the Curtain with the Smoke Guard label facing up. This will be the front.
2. Set the Tube ON TOP of the Curtain with the open motor end on the right and the
welded seam on top.

3. Line up ends of the Tube with the side edges of the Curtain.
4. Wrap the Curtain up from the back and around the top of the Tube, so that the top
edge of the Curtain lies along the welded seam.
5. Tape the Curtain to the Tube around the circumference at each edge.
6. Apply small pieces of tape to secure the curtain along the line.
