1. Best Practice – Ethernet Cable Directly from Power Manager to Network Router
NOTE: If the Power Manager is already running (data displayed on the LCD) before
connecting the Ethernet cable, use the LCD buttons to navigate to the Setup menu.
Select Refresh IP to connect to the router.
Successful Internet Communications
1. Remove the Consent to Share label.
2. Plugging the Ethernet cable into the
Ethernet port on the Power
Manager.
3. Plug the other end of the Ethernet
cable into the network router.
4. Verify the Power Manager LCD home screen displays
COMM, which indicates successful Internet
communications, usually within 5 minutes.

2. Alternate Solution #1 – Power Line Communications from Power Manager to
Internet Router
Two Asoka PL9650-ETH PlugLink Ethernet Adapters form a plug n’ play Ethernet
connection that uses the building’s AC wiring for network communications. These
adapters may require environmental enclosures depending on installation site
requirements.
NOTE:The PlugLink Ethernet Adapters often do not work when plugged into an outlet
with surge protection (common in AC power strips, uninterrupted AC power sources,
etc.).
1.
Plug the first adapter into an AC
outlet close to the network router.
2. Connect one end of the Ethernet
cable to the adapter and the other
end to the network router.
3. Plug the second adapter into an AC
outlet close to the Power Manager.
4. Connect one end of the Ethernet
cable to the adapter and the other
end to the Power Manager, threading
the cable through the opening in the
Power Manager as shown on page 2.
5. Verify the adapter LED lights are on. If
the PlugLink light is green on both
adapters, move one or both adapter
to a different outlet.
6. Verify the Power Manager LCD home
screen displays COMM, which
indicates successful Internet
communications, usually within 5
minutes.

3. Alternate Solution #2 – Plug n’ Play Wireless from Power Manager to Internet
Router
Two Ubiquiti Networks AirWire Ethernet Adapters form a plug n’ play Ethernet
connection with wired connections at both ends. The adapters use AC/DC wall power
plugs for power and may require environmental enclosures depending on installation
site requirements.
1.
Plug one adapter into an AC
outlet close to the network
router.
2. Connect one end of the Ethernet
cable to adapter 1 and the other
end to the network router.
3.
Plug the second adapter
into an AC outlet close to
the Power Manager.
4. Connect one end of the
Ethernet cable to the
adapter and the other end
to the Power Manager.
Thread the cable through
the opening in the Power
Manager as shown on
page 2.
5. Verify that the
adapter LED lights
indicate good signal
strength and an
active connection.
6. Verify the Power
Manager LCD home
screen displays
COMM, which
indicates successful
Internet, usually
within 5 minutes.

4. Alternate Solution #3 – Install WiFi Adapter from Power Manager to Internet
Router
Use a Netgear WNC2001 Ethernet to WiFi (wireless) Adapter when the building’s
Internet solution uses a WiFi connection to the Internet router. The Netgear adapter
uses an included AC/DC wall power plug for power and may require an
environmental enclosure depending on installation site requirements.
1.
Follow the Netgear instructions to install
any required WiFi network security.
2. Verify the PC/laptop can access the
Internet using the Netgear adapter.
3. Remove the Netgear adapter from the
PC/laptop.
4. Connect the end of the adapter’s Ethernet
cable to the Power Manager. Thread the
cable through the opening in the Power
Manager as shown on page 2.
5. Verify the adapter LED lights indicate
good signal strength and active
connections. Verify the Power Manager
LCD home screen displays COMMS which
indicates successful Internet, usually
within 5 minutes.
