II: Equipment group (non mining)
h: The leer ”h” as specied in EN ISO 80079-36.
IIIC: Equipment of Group III is intended for use in places with an explosive dust atmosphere
other than mines suscepble to redamp.
Equipment of Group III is subdivided according to the nature of the explosive dust
atmosphere for which it is intended.
Group III subdivisions:
• IIIA: suitable for combusble yings;
• IIIB: suitable for combusble yings and non-conducve dust;
• IIIC: suitable for combusble yings, non-conducve dust and conducve dust.
T130ºC The maximum surface temperature in degrees Celsius.
Dc: Equipment protecon level Dc. Same as old 3D marking.
For explosive atmospheres, caused by mixtures of air and combusble dusts, the
equipment does not contain any eecve ignion sources in normal operaon and

2 Preface
This manual is for the correct installaon, use and maintenance of this product. Read it carefully
before using this product or carrying out maintenance. Replace the manual immediately if lost.
This product has been designed to meet the requirements of relevant EC direcves. To maintain
this status, all installaon, repair and maintenance work for this product is to be carried out by
qualied personnel using only original spare parts. Contact the nearest authorized distributor or
Nederman for advice on technical service and obtaining spare parts.
Nederman connuously improves its products’ design and eciency through modicaons,
and reserves the right to do so without introducing these improvements to previously supplied
products. Nederman also reserve the right to, without previous noce, modify data and
equipment as well as operang and maintenance instrucons.
3 Noces
This document contains important informaon that is presented either as a warning, cauon or
note. See the following examples:
WARNING! Risk of personal injury.
Warnings indicate a potenal hazard to the health and safety of personnel, and how that hazard
may be avoided.
CAUTION! Risk of equipment damage.
Cauons indicate a potenal hazard to the product but not to personnel, and how that hazard
may be avoided.
NOTE! Notes contain other informaon that is important for personnel.
4 Descripon
4.1 Funcon
TAV 50 is a valve for automac opening and closing of a vacuum outlet linked to a central
vacuum system. It comes in six dierent models, see gure page 8. The valves are normally
automac, they open and close governed by a control device.
The control device can be a solenoid valve for electric control or a ow sensing valve sensing
the ow to a compressed air tool. TAV 50 PC (basic version) is not ed with its own control
device but an external 3-port valve is available as an opon (see page 11). All versions are
compressed air powered except for MA which is manually operated.
TAV 50 can be ed with a micro switch to control the vacuum unit (see accessories in
secon 9. Accessories). The ow sensing valve (FV) is described in secon 8. Flow Sensing Valve.
4.2 ATEX products
All versions of TAV 50 are marked with the CE label.
Depending on model and purpose of use, some TAV 50 also have the EX symbol and category
marking.
All TAV 50 marked with the EX symbol are category 3D equipment according to direcve
2014/34/EU. This means that models with the EX symbol may be placed in areas classied as
zone 22 according to direcve 1999/92/EC.

The manually operated TAV50 MA is not marked with the EX symbol as manually operated
equipment does NOT fall under the scope of the direcve 2014/34/EU. Even if the TAV50 MA
does not have the EX marking, it is highly suitable for use in areas classied as zone 22 and share
the same high level of protecon as the TAV50 with EX marking.
Please note that TAV 50 MV-W and TAV 50 MV 24 V AC/DC does not have the EX marking and
may not be installed is classied areas.
4.3 Category limit
The funcon of the TAV 50 is to be a part of an extracon piping system. Even if the TAV 50
with EX symbol is category 3D equipment for use in zone 22 (TAV 50 exterior), it can be used
with piping system internally classied as zone 20 or 21. As there is no internal ignion source
inside the TAV 50, it is to be considered as simple piping and does not fall under the scope of the
direcve 2014/34/EU.
4.4 Permied materials
The TAV50 is only intended to be a part of an extracon system transporng dusts with the
following properes: MIE (Minimum Ignion Energy) > 3 mJ and MIT (Minimum Ignion
Temperature) > 205 °C. Do not extract items that may cause ignion or blocking.

5.1 Funcon
Figure 3 shows TAV 50 in the open posion. Compressed air turns the blade when an air signal is
applied to the connecon nipple. Figure 4 shows the closed posion. The return spring turns the
blade back to this posion as soon as the air signal is removed.
The manual version, TAV 50 MA, requires no compressed air but is equipped with a lever for
operaon of the valve.
The nylon sealing rings supported by the backup rings seal o against the blade in the open
and closed posions. The backup rings are made of neoprene but are also available in viton for
extremely dicult applicaons.
6 Installaon
6.1 Mounng
For wall mounng, posioning as per gure 5a is recommended. Flow direcon is normally
upwards but reverse direcon is also possible. Mounng shown in 5b is also possible but
posioning “up side down” (5c) should be avoided. Supplied support brackets should always be
used for wall mounng, see arrows in gure 5d.
CAUTION! Risk of equipment damage.
The valve must not bare the load of connecon pipes or other connecons which may cause
defects on the valve. Make sure the connecons are rmly installed against the wall, ceiling,
oor or suchlike. Hose connecons must be strain reliefed.
Mounng in a type SA swing arm is made as shown in gure 5e using threaded holes in the
swing arm bracket. The support brackets should not be used in this case.
