How to configure the M18P1 Router/AP as a simple Access Point
Assuming the unit is on factory default settings (power up and hold the reset button in
for at least 10 seconds if not sure , the default IP address for the unit is 192.168.1.1
and the username/password is admin. The following notes assume that your computer
network setup is the Windows norm with DHCP enabled by default.
1. Connect your PC (computer to one of the orange LAN ports on the unit.
With the M18P1 powered up, now reboot /switch on your PC.
2. When the PC is booted up start your browser (Explorer or Firefox or
whatever’s your poison
3. On the address line of the browser enter 192.168.1.1 and press <enter>: The
M18P1 login page should show
4. Enter admin and admin and click on Ok

5. The first screen is the Setup Wizard. Click on Next to goto the first setup page
6. Select Bridge mode and click on Next

7. On the NTP page select the settings suitable for your local. Then click on Next
8. On the LAN Interface Setup I suggest you don’t, at this point, change the
address of the unit. Click on Next
Solwise Ltd, www.solwise.co.uk, sales@solwise.co.uk
9. Don’t worry about WAN Interface Setup either so just click on Next
10. By default the wifi mode is AP mode. So just change the SSID to whatever
you want. The rest of the settings shouldn’t need to be altered. Then click on
Next.
Solwise Ltd, www.solwise.co.uk, sales@solwise.co.uk
11. You now might wish to alter the wifi security
12. Now click on Finshed. Wait for the unit to reboot.
Solwise Ltd, www.solwise.co.uk, sales@solwise.co.uk
13. When the unit has rebooted goto TCP/IP Settings/LAN Interface
14. Now set DHCP to Disabled. Also now change the IP Address to a value
suitable for your network. So if your network address range is normally
192.168.0.x then set the M18P1 with an unused address on that range: Maybe
192.168.0.230? What ever you change it to just ensure it’s suitable for your
network and remember what it is!
15. Now click on Apply Changes
16. Configuration for AP mode is now complete. Now you can unplug your PC
from the M18P1 and then connect both devices to your network.
