Sonetics STL-30 User manual

MAINTENANCE
Periodically clean the ear tip with a mild soap and water solution to extend the life of the accessory.
To prolong the life of the accessory, store the accessory away from high temperature conditions.
HEARING PROTECTION WARNING
These communications products are designed to produce a specific audio output level at maximum
rated power. Many countries have regulations defining the amount of noise that an individual can be
subjected to during a normal workday. The duration of exposure, the level of audio output and the
level of ambient noise will affect compliance to these regulations. Compliance is application
dependent and standards vary. It is the SOLE RESPONSIBILITY of the end user to determine
applicability of and compliance to local hearing protection regulations. When purchasing any
accessories that use earphone kits, it is the SOLE RESPONSIBILITY of the user to determine
proper fit. Always use caution when inserting any of the products into your ear.

STL-30/-30PTT
Lightweight, Behind Head: Designed for less rigorous applications where an adjustable headband
would not be necessary. When used with a Sonetics belt pack, this headset provides high clarity and
discreet two-way communications while offering the comfort necessary for extended wear and a
secure fit in active environments.
The STL-30/-30PTT headsets can be worn under a helmet or cap. The STL-30PTT includes an in-
line Push-To-Talk (PTT) switch for easier PTT access.
Mechanical Specifications:
• Temple pad axial pull off force: 20 lbs
• Cable pull from ear cup, axial: 30 lbs
• Microphone boom flex life @ +/- 60° bend: 4,000 cycles
Electrical Specifications:
• Microphone sensitivity at 94dB SPL: -40 typical
Environmental Specifications:
• Operating temperature: -20° C to +60° C
• Storage temperature: -40° C to +80° C
STL-50/50PTT
Overhead Headset: This headset is a single-ear model featuring a swivel boom microphone for two-
way communications, and is intended for use in areas with high background noise to provide privacy
and noise isolation. The STL-50PTT includes an in-line Push-To-Talk (PTT) switch for easier PTT
access.
STL-70/-70PTT
Lightweight, Behind Head: This headset is used for 2-way belt pack communications in areas with
moderate background noise to provide privacy and noise isolation.
Ergonomically designed, the STL-70 is a slim, rugged single-ear unit that performs under harsh
conditions such as blowing rain and in hazardous situations such as water rescues. The STL-70 is
Mil-Spec and IS/ATEX certified and has a comfortable fit that provides clear and consistent
communications for short and long-term assignments.
The STL-70PTT includes an in-line Push-To-Talk (PTT) switch for easier PTT access.
These headsets feature:
• Flexible boom with bi-directional, noise cancelling microphone
• Adjustable headband
• Microphone windscreen.
Mechanical Specifications:
• Cable pull from PTT module, axial: 20 lbs
• Cable pull from headset, axial: 66 lbs
• Flex cycles at cable: 10,000 cycles
Electrical Specifications:
• Microphone sensitivity at 94dB SPL: -40 min, -24 max
Environmental Specifications:
• Operating temperature: -20° C to +60° C
• Storage temperature: -40° C to +80° C
• Water, wind and dustproof
INSTALLATION:
(1) Turn the belt pack off.
(2) Insert the headset plug into the Belt Pack headset jack. Turn to secure (as shown below).
(3) The headset has a clip to secure it to a collar of a shirt, jacket, etc.
(4) STL-30 & STL-70: The headband is worn behind the head with the speaker on the left ear.
(5) STL-50:The speaker can be located on either right or left ear.
(6) STL-30/-30PTT: recommended microphone gain level: 10 (see belt pack User Manual,
Programmable Squelch)
(7) STL-50/-50PTT, STL-70/-70PTT: recommended microphone gain level: 4 (see belt pack User
Manual, Programmable Squelch)
OPERATION
•Turn the belt pack on and operate it as explained in the belt pack’s User Manual.
• Place the microphone in front of the mouth NO MORE than 1/8" away from the lips.
• Placement of the microphone is CRITICAL for proper operation. If the microphone is positioned
incorrectly, you may experience a reduction in volume and clarity of intercom and radio
communication.
• STL-XXPTT Headsets: Microphone is activated by the headset in-line push-to-talk switch.
No more than
1/8” from lips.
