Installing the appliance
WARNING: The following conditions are required for proper installation:
1The SonicWall appliance is designed to be mounted in a standard 19-inch rack mount cabinet.
2Use the mounting hardware recommended by the rack manufacturer and ensure that the rack is
adequate for the application.
3Ensure that no water or excessive moisture can enter the unit.
4Allow unrestricted airflow around the unit and through the vents on the side of the unit. A minimum of
1 inch (25.44mm) clearance is recommended.
5Route cables away from power lines, fluorescent lighting fixtures, and sources of noise such as radios,
transmitters, and broadband amplifiers.
6Install in a location away from direct sunlight and sources of heat. A maximum ambient temperature of
104º F (40º C) is recommended.
7If installed in a closed or multi-rack assembly, the operating ambient temperature of the rack
environment may be greater than the room ambient. Therefore, consideration should be given to
installing the equipment in an environment compatible with the maximum recommended ambient
temperature.
8Mount the SonicWall appliances evenly in the rack in order to prevent a hazardous condition caused by
uneven mechanical loading.
9Four mounting screws, compatible with the rack design, must be used and hand-tightened to ensure
secure installation. Choose a mounting location where all four mounting holes line up with those of the
mounting bars of the 19-inch rack mount cabinet.
10 A suitably rated and approved branch circuit breaker shall be provided as part of the building
installation. Follow local code when purchasing materials or components.
11 Consideration must be given to the connection of the equipment to the supply circuit. Appropriate
consideration of equipment nameplate ratings must be used when addressing this concern. Do not
overload the circuit.
12 This equipment must be grounded. The power cord for the product should be connected to a socket or
outlet with earthing connection. Reliable grounding of rack-mounted equipment must be maintained.
Particular attention must be given to power supply connections other than direct connections to the
branch circuits, such as power strips.
13 The included power cord(s) are approved for use only in specific countries or regions. Before using a
power cord, verify that it is rated and approved for use in your location.

14 Minimum power cord rating for European Union (CE): Certified power supply cord not lighter than light
PVC sheathed flexible cord according to IEC 60227, designation, or H05 VV-F or H05 VVH2-F2, and rated
for at least 3G 0.75 mm².
15 The following statement applies only to rack-installed products that are GS-Marked: This equipment is
not intended for use at workplaces with visual display units, in accordance with §2 of the German
ordinance for workplaces with visual display units. To avoid incommoding reflections at visual display
workplaces this device must not be placed in the direct field of view.
16 This product is intended only for use in a restricted access area, it is not intended to be installed and
used in a home or public area accessible to the general population. When installed in schools, this
equipment must be installed in a secure location accessible only by trained personnel.
17 Only a skilled person trained in repair and maintenance of information technology and computer
equipment can install or replace modules. Only modules provided by SonicWall are authorized to be
used. If any other servicing is required, the product must be returned to SonicWall Inc.
18 Thumbscrews should be tightened with a tool after both installation and subsequent access to the rear
of the product.
19 Before replacing the fan unit, carefully read and follow the instructions provided with the unit.
WARNING: Potential hazard from fan.
20 When shipped from the factory, this SonicWall product has a single power supply installed. A second
power supply can be ordered and installed for redundant power and added reliability. When the second
power supply is installed, both power cords must be removed to disconnect power from the unit.
21 Never remove or install a power supply with the power cord attached to the power supply being
removed or installed.
22 When using a Fiber Optic Small-Form Pluggable (SFP) module, ensure it is IEC 60825 certified and a
Class 1 Laser Product.
23 Suitable for installation in Information Technology Room in accordance with Article 645 of the National
Electrical Code and NFPA 75.
Lithium battery warning
The Lithium Battery used in the SonicWall security appliance may not be replaced by the user. Return the
SonicWall security appliance to a SonicWall-authorized service center for replacement with the same or
equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer. If, for any reason, the battery or SonicWall security
appliance must be disposed of, do so following the battery manufacturer's instructions.
Cable connections
All Ethernet and RS232 (Console) cables are designed for intra-building connection to other equipment. Do not
connect these ports directly to communication wiring or other wiring that exits the building where the
SonicWall appliance is located.

4Laissez l'air circuler sans restriction autour de l'appareil et à travers les ventilations situées sur le côté

maintenue pour les équipements montés sur châssis. Une attention particulière doit être portée aux
connections d'alimentation de courant autre que ceux branchés à un circuit de dérivation, comme les
blocs multiprises.

13 Les cordons d'alimentation inclus sont uniquement approuvés pour une utilisation dans certaines
régions et certains pays. Avant d'utiliser un cordon d’alimentation, vérifiez qu’il est bien conforme et

14 Ce produit est conçu pour un usage dans une zone d'accès restreint, et n'est pas conçu pour être

16 Les vis de serrage doivent être serrées à l'aide d'un outil après l'installation du produit ou après toute
intervention ultérieure sur la partie arrière du produit.
17 Avant de remplacer le ventilateur, lisez et suivez strictement les instructions fournies avec l’appareil.

18 Lorsqu'expédié directement depuis l'usine, ce produit SonicWall est équipé d'un seul bloc
d'alimentation. Pour plus de fiabilité, il est possible de commander et d'installer un second bloc
d'alimentation afin d'assurer une alimentation redondante. Lorsque ce second bloc d'alimentation est
installé, les deux cordons d'alimentation doivent être débranchés pour déconnecter l'alimentation.
19 N'enlevez ou n'installez jamais un bloc d'alimentation avec le cordon d'alimentation toujours branché
sur le bloc d'alimentation que vous souhaitez enlever ou installer.
20 En cas d'utilisation d'un module SFP (émetteur-récepteur enfichable é faible encombrement), assurez-
vous que l'équipement utilisé est certifié CEI 60825 et de Produit laser de classe 1.
Avertissement relatif à la batterie au lithium
La batterie au lithium située à l'intérieur de l'appareil de sécurité SonicWall ne peut en aucun cas être
remplacée par l'utilisateur. L'appareil SonicWall doit être renvoyé à un atelier agréé SonicWall pour qu'on y
procède au remplacement de la batterie par un modèle identique ou équivalent recommandé par le fabricant.
Si, pour une raison ou une autre, la batterie ou l'appareil de sécurité SonicWall doit être mis au rebut,
respectez les consignes du fabricant de la batterie en la matière.
Raccordements
Tous les câbles Ethernet et RS232 (console) sont conçus pour la connexion à d'autres appareils à l'intérieur
d'un même bâtiment. Ne reliez pas ces ports directement à des câbles de communication ou à d'autres câbles
qui sortent du bâtiment dans lequel se trouve l'appareil SonicWall.

Anforderungen an die Installation
WARNUNG: Für eine ordnungsgemäße Montage sollten die folgenden Hinweise beachtet werden.
1Das SonicWall Modell ist für eine Montage in einem standard 19-Zoll-Rack konzipiert.
2Vergewissern Sie sich, dass das Rack für dieses Gerät geeignet ist und verwenden Sie das vom Rack-
Hersteller empfohlene Montagezubehör.
3Stellen Sie sicher, dass das Gerät vor Wasser und hoher Luftfeuchtigkeit geschützt ist.
4Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Luft um das Gerät herum zirkulieren kann und die Lüftungsschlitze an der
Seite des Gehäuses frei sind. Hier ist ein Belüftungsabstand von mindestens 26 mm einzuhalten.
5Führen Sie die Kabel nicht entlang von Stromleitungen, Leuchtstoffröhren und Störquellen wie
Funksendern oder Breitbandverstärkern.
6Wählen Sie für die Montage einen Ort, der keinem direkten Sonnenlicht ausgesetzt ist und sich nicht in
der Nähe von Wärmequellen befindet. Die Umgebungstemperatur darf nicht mehr als 40 °C betragen.
7Wenn das Gerät in einem geschlossenen 19"-Gehäuse oder mit mehreren anderen Geräten eingesetzt
wird, wird die Temperatur in dem Gehäuse höher sein, als die Umgebungstemperatur. Achten Sie
darauf, daß die Umgebungstemperatur nicht mehr als 40° C beträgt.
8Bringen Sie die SonicWall waagerecht im Rack an, um mögliche Gefahren durch ungleiche mechanische
Belastung zu vermeiden.
9Verwenden Sie für eine sichere Montage vier passende Befestigungsschrauben, und ziehen Sie diese
mit der Hand an. Wählen Sie einen Ort im 19-Zoll-Rack, wo alle vier Befestigungen der Montageschien
verwendet werden.
10 Eine angemessen dimensionierte und abgenommene Stromverteilung, sollte Bestandteil der Haus-
Installation sein. Bitte folgen die den lokalen Richtlinien beim Einkauf von Material oder Komponenten.
11 Prüfen Sie den Anschluss des Gerätes an die Stromversorgung, damit der Überstromschutz sowie die
elektrische Leitung nicht von einer eventuellen Überlastung der Stromversorgung beeinflusst werden.
Prüfen Sie dabei sorgfältig die Angaben auf dem Aufkleber des Gerätes. Überlasten Sie nicht den
Stromkreis.
12 Dieses Gerät muss geerdet sein. Das Netzkabel für das Produkt sollte an eine Steckdose mit
Erdungsanschluss angeschlossen werden. Eine sichere Erdung der Geräte im Rack muss gewährleistet
sein. Insbesondere muss auf nicht direkte Anschlüsse an Stromquellen geachtet werden wie z. B. bei
Verwendung von Mehrfachsteckdosen.
13 Das im Lieferumfang enthaltene bzw. die im Lieferumfang enthaltenen Netzkabel sind nur für die
Verwendung in bestimmten Ländern und Regionen zugelassen. Überprüfen Sie bitte vor der

Verwendung eines Netzkabels, ob es für die Verwendung in Ihrem Land oder Ihrer Region zugelassen ist
und den geforderten Normen entspricht.
14 Mindest Stromkabel Einstufung für die Europäische Union (CE): Zertifizierte Netzkabel nicht leichter als
leichte PVC-Schlauchkabel nach IEC 60227, Bezeichnung oder H05 VV-F oder H05 VVH2-F2 und
bewertet für mindestens 3G 0,75 mm².
15 Der folgende Hinweis gilt nur für rackmontierte Produkte mit GS-Kennzeichen: Dieses Gerät ist nicht zur
Verwendung an Arbeitsplätzen mit visuellen Anzeigegeräten gemäß § 2 der deutschen Verordnung für
Arbeitsplätze mit visuellen Anzeigegeräten vorgesehen. Um störende Reflexionen am
Bildshirmarbeitsplatz zu vermeiden, darf dieses Produkt nicht im unmittelbaren Gesichtsfeld platziert
werden.
16 Dieses Produkt ist nur für die Verwendung in einem Bereich mit beschränktem Zugang bestimmt, es ist
nicht für die Installation und Verwendung in einem zu Hause, oder der allgemeinen Bevölkerung
zugänglichen öffentlichen Bereich vorgesehen. Wenn dieses Gerät in Schulen installiert wird, muss es
an einem sicheren Ort installiert werden, der nur von geschultem Personal zugänglich ist.
17 Nur eine Fachkraft, die in der Reparatur und Wartung von Informationstechnologie und
Computerausrüstung ausgebildet ist, kann Module installieren oder ersetzen. Es dürfen nur von
SonicWall bereitgestellte Module verwendet werden. Wenn eine andere Wartung erforderlich ist, muss
das Produkt an SonicWall Inc. zurückgeschickt werden.
18 Vergewissern Sie sich, dass die Schrauben nach dem Austausch mit entsprechendem Werkzeug fest
angezogen werden.
19 Lesen Sie vor dem Austausch der Lüfterinheit die Anleitung, die mit dem Gerät gliefert wurde une
beforgen Sie die Anweisungen.
WARNUNG: Potenzielles Risiko durch den Lüfter.
20 Bei Versand ab Werk ist in diesem SonicWall-Produkt ein einzelnes Netzteil installiert. Es kann ein
zweites Netzteil für eine redundante Wechselstromversorgung und zusätzliche Funktionssicherheit
bestellt und installiert werden. Wenn das zweite Netzteil installiert ist, müssen beide Netzkabel
entfernt werden, um den Strom vom Gerät zu trennen.
21 Entfernen oder installieren Sie niemals ein Netzteil, dessen Gleich oder Wechselstromkabel noch
ansteckt ist.
22 Bei Verwendung von LWL Small-Form-Pluggable (SFP) Modulen stellen sie bitte sicher, dass diese nach
IEC 60825 als Laser Klasse 1 zertifiziert sind.
Warnhinweise zur Lithiumbatterie
Die in der Internet Security Appliance von SonicWall verwendete Lithiumbatterie darf nicht vom Benutzer
ausgetauscht werden. Zum Austauschen der Batterie muss die SonicWall in ein von SonicWall autorisiertes
Service-Center gebracht werden. Dort wird die Batterie durch denselben oder entsprechenden, vom Hersteller
empfohlenen Batterietyp ersetzt. Beachten Sie bei einer Entsorgung der Batterie oder der SonicWall Internet
Security Appliance die diesbezüglichen Anweisungen des Herstellers.

Kabelverbindungen
Alle Ethernet- und RS232-C-Kabel eignen sich für die Verbindung von Geräten in Innenräumen. Schließen Sie
an die Anschlüsse der SonicWall keine Kabel an, die aus dem Gebäude herausgeführt werden, in dem sich das
Gerät befindet.

AVISO: As seguintes condições são necessárias para a instalação correta.
1O dispositivo SonicWall foi projetado para ser montado em um rack padrão de 19 polegadas.
2Use o equipamento de montagem recomendado pelo fabricante do rack e verifique se o rack é
adequado para a aplicação.
3Certifique-se de que não entre água ou umidade excessiva na unidade.
4Permita que exista ventilação sem restrições em torno da unidade e através das portas de ventilação na
lateral da mesma. É recomendável um mínimo de 1 pol. (26 mm) de espaço livre.
5Mantenha os cabos afastados de linhas de energia, instalações de iluminação fluorescente e fontes de
ruído como rádios, transmissores e amplificadores de banda larga.
6Monte o dispositivo em um local afastado da luz solar direta e de fontes de calor. Recomenda-se uma
temperatura máxima de 40 ºC (104 ºF).
7Se instalado em um conjunto fechado ou com vários racks, a temperatura de operação do rack poderá
ser superior à temperatura ambiente. Portanto, deve-se considerar a instalação do equipamento em
um ambiente compatível com a temperatura ambiente máxima recomendada.
8Monte os dispositivos da SonicWall de forma uniforme no rack para evitar uma situação de risco devido
a uma carga mecânica irregular.
9Quatro parafusos de montagem, compatíveis com o projeto do rack, devem ser utilizados e apertados
manualmente para garantir uma instalação segura. Escolha um local de montagem em que os quatro
furos de fixação se alinhem com os das barras de montagem do rack de 19 polegadas.
10 Um disjuntor de ramificação devidamente avaliado e aprovado deve ser fornecido como parte da
instalação do edifício. Siga a regulamentação local quando comprar materiais ou componentes.
11 Deve-se prestar atenção à conexão do equipamento ao circuito de alimentação. Tenha certeza que
você não está sobrecarregando o circuito elétrico.

16 Os parafusos de aperto manual devem ser apertados com uma ferramenta após a instalação e o acesso
subsequente à parte traseira do produto.
17 Antes de substituir a unidade do ventilador, leia atentamente e siga as instruções fornecidas com a
unidade.

18 Quando enviado da fábrica, este produto SonicWall contém uma única fonte de alimentação instalada.
É possível solicitar e instalar uma segunda fonte de alimentação para alimentação redundante e maior
confiabilidade. Quando uma segunda fonte de alimentação é instalada, os dois cabos de alimentação
devem ser removidos para desconectar a alimentação de CA ou CC da unidade.
19 Nunca remove nem instale uma fonte de alimentação com o cabo de energia AC ou DC conectado à
fonte de alimentação que está sendo removida ou instalada.
20 Ao usar um módulo SFP de fibra óptica, certifique-se de que ele seja certificado pela IEC 60825 e um

10 建物の設備の一部として適切に評定、承認された分岐回路ブレーカーが提供されるものとします。資
材や部品を購入する際は、現地の規則に従ってください。
11 装置の電源回路への接続には十分な配慮が必要です。接続の前に、装置の定格 (ネームプレート表
示) の内容をよくお読みください。電源回路に過負荷をかけないでください。
12 電源は必ず接地してください。本製品の電源コードは、アース接続のあるソケットまたはコンセントに接

Electromagnetic Compatibility
Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) is any signal or emission, radiated in free space or conducted along power
or signal leads, that endangers the functioning of radio navigation or other safety service or seriously
degrades, obstructs, or repeatedly interrupts a licensed radio communications service. Radio communications
services include but are not limited to AM/FM commercial broadcast, television, cellular services, radar, air-
traffic control, pager, and Personal Communication Services (PCS). These licensed radio services, and
unlicensed radio services, such as WLAN or Bluetooth, along with unintentional radiators such as digital
devices, including computer systems, contribute to the electromagnetic environment.
Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) is the ability of items of electronic equipment to function properly
together in the electronic environment. While this computer system has been designed and determined to be
compliant with regulatory agency limits for EMI, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a
particular installation.
SonicWallproducts are designed, tested, and classified for their intended electromagnetic environment. These
electromagnetic environment classifications generally refer to the following harmonized definitions:
Class B products are intended for use in residential/domestic environments but may also be used in non-
residential/non-domestic environments.
NOTE: The residential/domestic environment is an environment where the use of
broadcast radio and television receivers may be expected within a distance of 10 m (33
feet) from where this product is used.
Class A products are intended for use in non-residential/non-domestic environments. Class A products
may also be utilized in residential/domestic environments, but may cause interference and require the
user to take adequate corrective measures.
If this equipment does cause interference with radio communications services, which can be determined by
turning the equipment off and on, you are encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the
following measures:
•Reorient the receiving antenna.
•Relocate the computer with respect to the receiver.
•Move the computer away from the receiver.

•Plug the computer into a different outlet so that the computer and the receiver are on different
branch circuits.
If necessary, consult a SonicWall Technical Support representative or an experienced radio/television or EMC
technician for additional suggestions.
Information Technology Equipment (ITE), including peripherals, expansion cards, printers, input/output (I/O)
devices, monitors, and so on, that are integrated into or connected to the system should match the
electromagnetic environment classification of the computer system.
A Notice about Shielded Signal Cables: Use only shielded cables for connecting peripherals to any SonicWall
device to reduce the possibility of interference with radio communications services. Using shielded cables
ensures that you maintain the appropriate EMC classification for the intended environment.
SonicWall has determined that this product is a Class Aharmonized product. The following sections provide
country-specific EMC/EMI or product safety information.

Радиокомуникационните услуги включват, без изброяването да еизчерпателно, AM/FM рекламни
предавания, телевизия, клетъчни услуги, радиолокация, управление на въздушния трафик иПерсонални
комуникационни услуги (ПКУ). Тези лицензирани радиопредавателни услуги инелицензирани
радиопредавателни услуги, като например WLAN или Bluetooth, заедно сневолни излъчватели като
цифрови устройства, включително компютърни системи, допринасят към електромагнитната среда.
Електромагнитна съвместимост (ЕМС)еспособността на различните единици електронно оборудване
да работят добре при съвместна работа велектронна среда. Тази компютърна система есъздадена и
предназначена да есъвместима срегулаторните ограничения за EMI, но няма гаранция, че внякои
случаи няма да има смущения.
Продуктите на SonicWall са проектирани, тествани икласифицирани съобразно условията на
електромагнитната среда, за която са предназначени. Тези класификации според електромагнитната
среда обикновено се отнасят към следните хармонизирани дефиниции:
Клас B продуктите са предназначени за използване в жилищна/домашна обстановка, но могат също
така да се използват и в други обстановки.
БЕЛЕЖКА: Жилищната/домашна обстановка е обстановка, в която може да се
очаква използването на радио- и телевизионни приемници в разстояние от 10 м от
мястото, на което се използва продукта.
Клас A продуктите са предназначени за използване в не-жилищна/не-домашна обстановка.
Продуктите от Клас A могат да се използват и в жилищна/домашна обстановка, но могат да
причинят интерференции и да се наложи потребителят да вземе съответните корективни мерки.
Ако това устройство причинява интерференция с радиокомуникационни услуги, което се определя чрез
включване и изключване на устройството, бихте могли да коригирате интерференцията по един или
няколко от следните начини:
