Sony XM-GS400 User manual

The Sony® GS-400 Class-D subwoofer amplier aords incredible installation
exibility thanks to its compact size and packs quite a punch. GS series
ampliers oer tremendous value including convenience features such as:
modern cosmetics, variable cross-overs, multiple channel congurations
and singe-side electrical connections to suit almost any application.
Amp Design
The XM-GS400's 4/3/2 channel congurable output, compact chassis size and single sided
connections provide multiple mounting options while maximizing output and control for your
audio system.
4 Channel Stereo Output
The XM-GS400 delivers 70 watts RMS per channel at 4 ohm at 14.4 volts, from 20 Hz - 20 kHz with
less than 1% THD+N. At 2 ohms stereo, the XM-GS400 delivers 80 watts RMS per channel at 14.4
volts, from 20 Hz - 20 kHz with less than 1% THD+N.
2 Channel Mono Output
The XM-GS400 delivers 160 watts RMS per channel when front and rear channels are bridged into
4 ohm with 14.4 volts, from 20 Hz - 20 kHz with less than 1% THD+N. This unit has a mximum output
power of 350 watts per channel when bridged at 4 ohm.
Built-in Crossovers
The XM-GS400 has a removable top panel that conceals indepentent front and rear 12 dB/
octave variable HPF (High Pass lter) and LPF (Low-Pass lter) crossovers at 50-300Hz. This unit also
provides independent front and rear 12 dB/octave sub-sonic HPF (High-Pass lter) crossovers,
variable at 6-70Hz to maximize your systems potential. This amplier also oers independent,
variable 0-10 dB 40 Hz bass boost circuit to increase low frequency response.
Input Flexibilty
As well as traditional RCA inputs, the XM-GS400 oers direct connections (High Level Input) to
the speaker output of your car audio unit if it is not equipped with RCA line outputs. The auto
sensing, high level input feature also allows the amplier to be powered up without the need for
remote power turn on connections.
Warranty
The XM-GS400 includes a 3 year warranty.

1. CEA-2006 Compliant — Standardized “Voluntary” Testing & Measurement Methods for
Mobile Audio Ampliers. This standard advocates a uniform method for determining an
amplier’s RMS power and signal-to-noise ratio. Using 14.4 volts, RMS watts are measured
into a 4-ohm impedance load at 1 percent Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) plus noise, at a
frequency range (for general purpose ampliers) of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz.
