Notes on Wall Mounting
For Sony Dealers
Sufficient expertise is required for installing this product
on the wall. Be sure to read the instruction manual
provided with the Wall-Mount Bracket thoroughly to do
the installation work safely. Sony is not liable for any
damages or injury caused by mishandling or improper
installation.
Be sure to use the UL approved Wall-Mount Bracket
which is tested with FWD-40LX1 based on IEC60950 and
UL60950.
SONY is not liable for any damages or injury caused by
using any Wall-Mount Bracket which is not Approved by
UL.
Be sure to install the Display Unit securely to the wall
following the instructions given in the instruction manual
of the Wall-Mount Bracket.
If any of the screws are loose or fall out, the Display Unit
may fall and cause injury or property damage. Be sure to
use the appropriate screws for the material of the wall and
install the unit securely.
If the wall on which the Wall-Mount Bracket is installed is
unstable, uneven, or not perpendicular to the floor, the unit
may fall and cause injury or property damage.
The wall should be capable of supporting a weight of at
least four times the Display Unit weight, 110 kg. (The
Display Unit weight of FWD-40LX1 is approximately
27.5kg. )
Be sure to use the specified screws and attachment parts
properly following the instructions given in the instruction
manual of the Wall-Mount Bracket. If you use substitute
items, the Display Unit may fall, and cause bodily injury to
someone or damage to the Display Unit.
Be sure to assemble the bracket properly following the
instructed procedure explained in the instruction manual of
the Wall-Mount Bracket.
Be sure to tighten the screws securely in the designated
position.
If you fail to do so, the Display Unit may fall, and cause
bodily injury to someone or damage to the Display Unit.
Do not disassemble or make alterations to the parts of the
Wall-Mount Bracket.
If you do so, the Wall-Mount Bracket may fall and cause
injury or property damage.
Do not mount any equipment other than the specified
product.
If you mount equipment other than specified in the
instruction manual of the Wall-Mount Bracket, it may fall
or break, and cause injury or property damage.
Do not install the Display Unit over or under an air-
conditioner.
If the Display Unit is exposed to water leaks or air current
from an air-conditioner for a long time, it may cause a fire,
an electric shock or a malfunction of the Display Unit.
Do not allow the mains lead or the connecting cable to be
pinched.
If the mains lead or the connecting cable is pinched
between the unit and the wall or is bent or twisted by force,
the internal conductors may become exposed and cause a
short circuit or an electrical break. This may cause a fire or
an electric shock.
After proper installation of the Display Unit, secure the
cables properly.
If people or objects get tangled in the cables, this may
result in injury or damage to the Display Unit.
Be careful not to hurt your hands or fingers when installing
the Display Unit.

Caution
Provide an ample amount of space around the display
.When you set up the Display Unit, make sure there is more space around the display than that shown in
the figure below. This will allow for proper ventilation.
.Wile the unit is on, a certain amount of heat builds up inside. This can cause burns. Avoid touching the
top or rear of the unit when it is powered on or just after it has entered standby mode.

When removing/reinstalling the cabinet and replacing the board, place the unit on the conductive cushion.

Removal
1. Open the cable side cover and cable bottom cover on the right side (viewed from backside) and
loosen the two panel securing screws, then remove the U1 block assembly.
2. Remove the four screws (PSW M6 x20), then remove the four knobs.
3. Remove the five screws (PSW4 x10) and screw (PSW3 x12), then hold the two handles and
remove the cabinet assembly.
Installation
4. Reattach the cabinet assembly in the reverse order of steps 1 to 3.

.When removing the chassis assembly, be sure to work with more than two persons.
.Place the removed chassis assembly on the conductive cushion.
Removal
1. Remove the cabinet assembly. (Refer to Section 1-3-1.)
2. Remove the two control button panel assembly. (Refer to step 2 of Section 1-4-6.)
3. Disconnect the harness from the connector (CN9200) on the H2 board.
4. Disconnect the harness from the connector (CN9300) on the H3 board.
5. Remove the eight screws (BVTP4 x12) and six screws (PWHTP2 4 x10), then hold the arm (left
side) and two portions A of LCD barcket assembly, and remove the LCD bracket assembly.
Installation
6. Reattach the LCD bracket assembly in the reverse order of steps 2 to 4.
7. Reattach the cabinet assembly. (Refer to Section 1-3-1.)

Removal
1. Remove the cabinet assembly. (Refer to Section 1-3-1.)
2. Remove the eight screws (PSW4 x12), then remove the two arms.
3. Remove the fourteen screws (BVST3 x6), then remove the shield cover D.
4. Remove the seven screws (BVST3 x6), then remove the shield cover G assembly.
Installation
5. Reattach the shield cover G assembly, shield cover D, and two arms in the reverse order of steps 2 to 4.

When attaching the two arms, be careful of the orientation of the imprinting.
6. Reattach the cabinet assembly. (Refer to Section 1-3-1.)

After replacing the D3 board or V1 board, be sure to perform the “2-2-6. White Balance Adjustment”
and “2-2-7. AD Calibration Adjustment”.
Removal
1. Remove the cabinet assembly. (Refer to Section 1-3-1.)
2. Remove the arm on the right side and shield cover D. (Refer to steps 2 and 4 of Section 1-4.)
3. Remove the screw (BVST3 x6), then remove the connector cover assembly.
4. Disconnect the sixteen harnesses connected to the D3 board.
5. Disconnect the four harnesses from the connectors (CN3901-CN3904) on the V board.
6. Remove the five screws (BVST3 x6) securing the D3 board.
7. Remove the four screws (BVST3 x6) securing the V1 board and two screws (BVST3 x6) securing
the JT1 board.
8. Remove the seven screws (BVST3 x6), then remove the connector bracket assembly.
9. Remove the V1 board from the connector (CN1000) on the D3 board in the direction of the arrow B.
10. Remove the JT1 board from the connector (CN3001) on the V1 board in the direction of the arrow C.
11. Remove the six hexagonal screws and screw (BVTP3 x8), then remove the D3 board.

Installation
12. Install the D3 board, V1 board and JT1 board in the
reverse order of steps 3 to 11.

.Be sure to securely connect the connector (CN1000)
on the D3 board and the connector (CN3900) on the
V1 board.
.Be sure to securely connect the connector (CN3001)
on the V1 board and the connector (CN2701) on the
JT1 board.
.Be sure to securely fix the LVDS harness with the
harness retainers to prevent the LVDS harness from
contacting the shield cover D. (Refer to Fig. A.)
.When attaching the connector cover assembly, be
sure to securely insert the two notches into the
portion A of the D base chassis. (Refer to Fig. B.)
13. Reassemble this unit in the reverse order of steps 1 and 2.

Removal
1. Remove the cabinet assembly.
(Refer to Section 1-3-1.)
2. Remove the two arms, shield cover D and shield cover
G assembly. (Refer to steps 2 to 4 of Section 1-4.)
3. Disconnect the harness from the connector (CN9400)
on the S board.
4. Remove the screw, then remove the S board.
5. Disconnect the three harnesses from the connectors
(CN5900 to CN5902) on the FA1 board.
6. Remove the four screws, then remove the FA1 board.
Installation
7. Reinstall the S board and FA1 board in the reverse
order of steps 3 to 6.
8. Reassemble this unit in the reverse order of steps 1 and 2.

(CN5000-CN5002) on the K1 board.
4. Remove the four screws, then remove the K1 board.
Installation
5. Reinstall the K1 board in the reverse order of steps 3
and 4.
6. Reassemble this unit in the reverse order of steps 1 and 2.

Removal
1. Remove the cabinet assembly.
(Refer to Section 1-3-1.)
2. Remove the two arms, shield cover D and shield cover
G assembly. (Refer to steps 2 to 4 of Section 1-4.)
3. Disconnect the three harnesses from the connectors
(CN8001-CN8003) on the F1 board.
4. Remove the four screws, then remove the F1 board.
Installation
5. Reinstall the F1 board in the reverse order of steps 3
and 4.
6. Reassemble this unit in the reverse order of steps 1 and 2.

1. Remove the cabinet assembly. (Refer to Section 1-3-1.)
2. Remove the two screws (BVST3 x6), then remove
the control button panel.
3. Remove the three screws (BVTP3 x8), then remove
the H1 board.
4. Disconnect the harness from the connector (CN9100)
on the H1 board.
Installation
5. Reinstall the H1 board in the reverse order of steps 2
to 4.

When attaching the control panel assembly, route the
harness through the opening.
6. Reattach the cabinet assembly. (Refer to Section 1-3-1.)

Removal
1. Remove the cabinet assembly.
(Refer to Section 1-3-1.)
2. Remove the bezel assembly. (Refer to Section 1-3-2.)
3. Remove the hook from the rib in the center of the
lower portion on the bezel assembly.
4. Slowly incline the H2 board in the direction of the
arrow, then remove it from the bezel assembly.
Installation
5. Reinstall the H2 board in the reverse order of steps 3
and 4.

When installing the H2 board, insert the two hooks
(upper portion) into the openings of the cabinet
assembly and push in the hook (lower portion).
6. Reassemble this unit in the reverse order of steps 1 and 2.

1. Remove the cabinet assembly.

2. Remove the screw, then remove the light pipe and H3
board.
3. Disconnect the harness from the connector (CN9300)
on the H3 board.
Installation
4. Reinstall the light pipe and H3 board in the reverse
order of steps 2 and 3.
5. Reattach the cabinet assembly.
(Refer to Section 1-3-1.)

When attaching the cabinet assembly, be careful not to
catch the harness.

Removal
1. Remove the cabinet assembly.
(Refer to Section 1-3-1.)
2. Remove the two screws (BVST3 x6), then remove
the power bracket.
3. Disconnect the harness from the connector (CN9500)
on the SP board.
4. Remove the two screws (BVTP3 x8), then remove
the SP board.
Installation
5. Reinstall the SP board in the reverse order of steps 2 to 4.
6. Reattach the cabinet assembly.

2. Expand the four portions A of the U1 block assembly,
then remove the cover.
3. Remove the screw (BVTP3 x8) and two screws
(PSW3 x8), then remove the U1 board from the U1
panel assembly.
Installation
4. Reinstall the U1 board in the reverse order of steps 2 and
3.
5. Reattach the U1 block assembly to this unit.

1. Remove the cabinet assembly.

2. Remove the two arms, shield cover D and shield cover
G assembly. (Refer to steps 2 to 4 of Section 1-4.)
3. Remove the harness from the clamper.
4. Remove the connector connecting the harness removed
in step 3 to the DC fan (left).
5. Remove the two screws, then remove the DC fan
(left).
Installation
6. Reattach the DC fan (left) in the reverse order of steps
3 to 5.
7. Reassemble this unit in the reverse order of steps 1 and 2.

Removal
1. Remove the cabinet assembly.
(Refer to Section 1-3-1.)
2. Remove the two arms, shield cover D and shield cover
G assembly. (Refer to steps 2 to 4 of Section 1-4.)
3. Remove the harness from the clamper.
4. Remove the connector connecting the harness removed
in step 3 to the DC fan (right).
5. Remove the two screws, then remove the DC fan
(right).
Installation
6. Reattach the DC fan (right) in the reverse order of
steps 3 to 5.
7. Reassemble this unit in the reverse order of steps 1 and 2.
