1. Outline
Sony Network Surveillance Recorder NSR-100/50/25 can expand its recording capacity by connecting
external storage devices.
This manual describes procedures for addition, deletion, and replacement of external storage devices and
notes on operation.
The external storage device is called NAS.
NAS: Network Attached Storage
Applicable Units
NSR-100/50/25 with version V2.1.0 or above
nVersion of your NSR
Click “Configuration” in the GUI screen, “General”, and then “Main” to display the Main screen.
“Software” shows the version number of the NSR.

DL100G2 made by Hewlett-Packard
The following are available as of Apr/2006.
.DL100G2 Storage Server 640 GB model (about 480 GB effective in RAID-5)
.DL100G2 Storage Server 1 TB model (about 750 GB effective in RAID-5)

OS: Windows Storage Server 2003 Workgroup Edition is preinstalled.

Connection Condition
The NAS can be connected to an NSR at four mounting points maximum. Add an NSR to connect NAS
more than four units.
The picture data of frame rate up to 120 fps*(in case of VGA) can be recorded and played back per one
NAS. This is a limitation when recording and playback are done simultaneously. If the whole area is
allocated for recording only, some frames may be not recorded when playback is done at the same time.
Even if picture data is recorded to a NAS, set so that the total frame rate of recording and playback of the
local storage and the NAS does not exceed the maximum frame rate to be able to record to the NSR local
storage.
