The MULTI CH button on the remote is not
available.

Before you get started
l Turn off the power to all components before making any connections.
l Do not connect the AC power cord until all of the connections arecompleted.
l Be sureto make.connections firmly to avoid hum and noise.
l When connecting an audio/video cord, be sureto match the color-coded pins to the appropriatejacks on
the components: yellow (video) to yellow; white (left, audio) to white; andred (right, audio) to red.
l When you connect optical digital cords, insert the cord plugs straight in until they click into place.
- Do not bend or tie the optical digital cord.

Hooking Up the Components

Connectthe digital outputjacks of your DVD player andsatellitetuner (etc.)to thereceiver’s digital
inputjacks to bring themulti channelsurroundsoundof amovie theaterinto your home.To fully
enjoy multi channelsurroundsound,five speakers(two front speakers,two surroundspeakers,anda
centerspeaker)andasubwoofer arerequired.You canalsoconnectanLD playerwith anRF OUT
jack via anRF demodulator,like the SonyMOD-RF1 (not supplied).
Notes
* You cannot connect an LD player’s DOLBY DIGITAL RF OUT jack directly to this unit’s digital input jack\.
You must first convert the RF signal to either an optical or coaxial digital signal. For details, see
“Troubleshooting” on page 48.
* All the OPTICAL and COAXIAL jacks are compatible with 96 kHz. 48 kHz. 44. I kHr and 32 kHz sampling
frequcncie\.
