3. Drainthe systemand drillaholeinthepipe.And be surethe holeisperpendiculartothe centerofthe pipe,
asshowinFig.2. Ifthe holeisoffcenter,the vane willbind againstthe inside wallofthe pipe. Useaholesawin
aslowspeed drilltocut aholeof theproperdiameter,asshowinTable2.
4.Removeburrsand sharpedgesfromthe hole.Clean and removeall scaleand foreign matterfromthe inside
of the pipe foradistanceequal tothe pipediameteron eitherside of the hole. Clean theoutside ofthe pipeto
removedirt, metalchips, and cutting lubricant.
5. Rollthe vane sothatit maybe inserted intothe hole;do not bend orcreaseit.Seatthe gasket against the
saddleand mountthe detectorintothe pipe.Insert the vane sothatthe arrowon the saddlepointsinthe
direction of the waterflow. The bushing shouldfitinsidethe holeinthe pipe.
6. Installthe U-bolt and tighten nutsalternatelytoensureauniformseal(see the Table2fortorque values).

7. The vane must not rub the inside ofthepipe orbind in anyway. If the vane binds, removethe detectorand
correctthe causebeforeproceeding.
8. Ensurethat thedirectionofarrowon the saddlepoint shouldbe consistent withthe direction of the water
flow. See Fig.3.
Notes:Remove burrs fromedgeofhole. Cleanoutscaleandforeignmatter frominsidewall ofpipe.
