Install the Motherboard

Step 1. Install the CPU
TomountthePentium

processorthatyouhavepurchasedseparately,followthese
instructions.
CPU Mount Procedure
1. Liftthesockethandleuptoaverticalposition.
2. AlignthebluntedgeoftheCPUwiththematchingpinholedistinctiveedgeonthe
socket.
3. Seattheprocessorinthesocketcompletelyandwithoutforcing.
4. ThenclosethesockethandletosecuretheCPUinplace.
RemembertoconnecttheCPUCoolingFantotheappropriatepower
connector(JP12)ontheMotherboard. Thefanisakeycomponentthatwill
ensuresystemstability.Thefanpreventsoverheating,thereforeprolonging
thelifeofyourCPU.

Afterthehardwareinstallationiscomplete,turnthepowerswitchon,thenpressthe
<DEL> keyduringthesystemdiagnosticcheckstoentertheAwardBIOSSetupprogram.
TheCMOSSETUPUTILITYwilldisplayonscreen.Then,followthesestepstocomplete
thequickBIOSsetup.
Step 1. Select [LOAD SETUP DEFAULT]
Selectthe“LOADSETUPDEFAULT”menuandtype“Y”attheprompttoloadtheBIOS
optimalsetup.
Step 2. Select [STANDARD CMOS SETUP]
Set[Date/Time]and[Floppydrivetype],then set[HardDiskType] to “Auto”.
Step 3. Select [SAVE & EXIT SETUP]
Press <Enter> tosavethenewconfigurationtotheCMOSmemory,andcontinuethe
bootsequence.

Windows9xor NT.
YourSY-5EHM/5EH5V1.xMotherboardcomeswithaCD-ROMlabeled"SOYOCD."The
SOYOCDcontains(1)theuser'smanualfileforyournewMotherboard,(2)thedrivers
softwareavailableforinstallation,and(3)adatabaseinHTMLformatwithinformationon
SOYOMotherboardsandotherproducts.
Step 1. Insert the SOYO CD into the CD-ROM drive
TheSOYOCDwillauto-run,andtheSOYOCDStartUpMenuwillbeshownasbelow.

IfyouuseWindows95/98,theSOYOCDStart UpProgramautomaticallydetectswhich
SOYOMotherboardyouownanddisplaysthecorrespondingmodelname.

Clickthe Read Manual buttontoopentheuser'smanualfileofyourMotherboard.

youown,themanualselectionmenuwillpopup,asshownbelow.Thenselecttheuser's
manualfilethatcorrespondstoyourMotherboardmodelnameandclick OK.

Theuser'smanualfilesincludedontheSOYOCDareinPDF(PostscriptDocument)format.In
ordertoreadaPDFfile,theappropriateAcrobatReadersoftwaremustbeinstalledinyour
system.
Note: TheStartUpprogramautomaticallydetectsiftheAcrobatReaderutilityisalready
presentinyoursystem,andotherwisepromptsyouonwhetherornotyouwanttoinstallit.You
mustinstalltheAcrobatReaderutilitytobeabletoreadtheuser'smanualfile.Followthe
instructionsonyourscreenduringinstallation,thenoncetheinstallationiscompleted,restart
yoursystemandre-runtheSOYOCD.
Step 3. Install Drivers and Utilities
ThefollowingdescribesthebestwayofinstallingWindows95orWindows98onyour
5EHM/5EH5V1.xMotherboard:

1. The‘OnChip USBController’itemunder‘ChipsetfeaturesSetup’issettoenabled.
2. The‘USBAssignedIRQ’itemunder‘PnP/PCIConfigurationisset toenabled.

adaptedtoyoursystem,orotherwisethismaycausesystemmalfunctions.

ØETEQ 4in1 driver package
The4in1driverpackageincludesalldriversyourmotherboardneeds.Afterselectingthisdriver
package,onedriverwillbeinstalledautomatically(theIRQ remappingutility),theotherthree
areinstalledifselected.Bydefaultallthreedriversareselected.Adescriptionofthe4drivers
follows:
 Bus Master PCI IDE Driver
Thisdriverwillspeedupthedata-transferratetoandfromthe harddisk.
Please select the driver you want to install and click OK, You will have to
restart your system after installation. Only the drivers that are relevant
to your board are displayed initially.

ThisdriverwillmakethenecessarychangestotheWindowsregistry,inordertomake
surethatWindowshasnoproblemsrecognizingyourETEQchipset.
 IRQremappingutility(Thisdriveris installed automatically)
ThisutilitywillremaptheIRQlinestomakesurethateverythingfunctionsproperly
underWindows.
Selectwhichdriveryouwanttoinstallandclick OK, orclick Cancel toreturntothemainmenu.
WhentheinstallationprogramofadriverstartsrunningtheSOYO-CDwillexit.
Note: Whentheinstallationiscomplete,mostdriversrequire torestartyoursystembeforethey
canbecomeactive.
IfyouwanttoseeallthedriversavailableontheSOYO –CD,clickthe Displayalldriverson
theSOYOCD button.DoNOTinstalldriversthatarenotsuitableforyourboard,otherwise
yoursystemmaycrash.
Step 4. Check the Latest Releases
Clickthe'CheckthelatestReleases'buttontogotheSOYO Websitetoautomaticallyfindthe
latestBIOS,manualanddriverreleasesforyourmotherboard.Thisbuttonwillonlyworkifyour
computerisconnectedtothe internetthroughanetworkormodemconnection.Makesureto
getyourmodemconnectionupbeforeclickingthisbutton.
Step 5. Enter the SOYO CD
Clickthe EnterSOYO CD buttontoentertheSOYOHTMLdatabase.TheStartUpprogram
willactivatethedefaultHTMLbrowserinstalledonyoursystem(forexample,InternetExplorer
orNetscape)todisplaythecontentsoftheSOYOCD.
TheSOYOCDcontainsusefulinformationaboutyourMotherboardandotherSOYOproducts
available.Foryourconvenience,thisinformationisavailableinHTMLformat,similartothe
formatwidelyusedontheInternet.

SOYOCDandyouwillbeabletobrowsetheSOYOHTMLdatabase.
