Motherboard.
Step 1. Install the CPU
Mark your CPU Frequency:
RecordtheworkingfrequencyofyourCPU
thatshouldbeclearlymarkedontheCPUcover.

ThisMotherboardisdesignedtobeabletosupportprocessorswith100MHzFSB.However,
Socket370processorswith100MHzFSBarenotavailableyetatthismomentfortesting.
CPU Mount Procedure:

processorthatyouhave
purchasedseparately,followthese instructions.
1.
Liftthesockethandleuptoaverticalposition.
2.
AlignthebluntedgeoftheCPUwiththematchingpinholedistinctiveedgeonthe
socket.
3.
Seattheprocessorinthesocketcompletelyandwithoutforcing.
4.
ThenclosethesockethandletosecuretheCPUinplace.
RemembertoconnecttheCPUCoolingFantotheappropriatepower
connectorontheMotherboard. Thefanis akeycomponentthat willensure
systemstability.Thefanpreventsoverheating,thereforeprolongingthelifeof
yourCPU.

Step 4. Set JP45 for power up FSB clock and AGP bus clock.

whichcanbesetintheBIOSSOYOCOMBOSetup.Toavoidbeingunabletopowerupthe
systemduetoofforgettingthepassword,youcanplaceajumpercaptoshortJP8.Thiswill
alwaysenablethePowerButton.

Note:SuspendmodeonlyfunctionsifyourPowerManagementmodeisAPM.MakesurethattheBIOS
settingforPowerManagementisAPM.Windows98canbeinstalledwithACPIPowerManagement
(defaultisAPM),inthiscasesuspendmodewillnotfunctioneither.

identifiedbyitswhitecoloredcap.

TheSY-6VZAMotherboardprovidesover-clockingcapability.Duetotheover-clocking
settingyoursystemmayfailtobootuporhangduringruntime.Ifthisoccurs,pleaseperform
thefollowingstepstorecoveryoursystemfromtheabnormalsituation:
1.
Turnoffsystempower.(IfyouuseanATXpowersupply,anddependingonyour
system,youmayhavetopressthepowerbuttonformorethan4secondstoshut
downthesystem.)

SetJP45topin2-3ifyouuseaFSB66MHzCPU

Pressandholddownthe<Insert>keywhileturningonthesystempower.Keep
holdingdownthe<Insert>keyuntilyouseethemessageoftheCPUtypeandyour
CPUfrequency(66MHzxCPUMultiplier)appearonscreen.
4.
Pressthe<Del>keyduringthesystemdiagnosticcheckstoentertheAwardBIOS
Setupprogram.
5.
FromtheBIOSmainmenu,select[SOYOCOMBOSETUP]andmovethecursorto
the[CPUFrequency]fieldtosettheproperworkingfrequency.
6.
Select[Save&ExitSETUP]andpress<Enter>tosavetheconfigurationtothe
CMOSmemory,andcontinuethebootsequence.
Note: SOYOdoesnotguaranteesystemstabilityiftheuseroverclocksthesystem.
Anymalfunctions dueto over-clocking arenot coveredbythewarranty.

Quick BIOS Setup
ThisMotherboarddoesnotuseanyhardwarejumperstosettheCPUfrequency.Instead,
CPUsettingsaresoftwareconfigurablewiththeBIOS
[SOYO COMBO SETUP].
The
[SOYOCOMBOSETUP]menucombinesthemainparametersthatyouneedtoconfigure,
allinonemenu,foraquicksetupinBIOS.
Afterthehardwareinstallationiscomplete,turnthepowerswitchon,thenpressthe
<DEL>
key
duringthesystemdiagnosticcheckstoentertheAwardBIOSSetupprogram.TheCMOS
SETUPUTILITYwill displayonscreen.Then,followthesestepstoconfiguretheCPUsettings.
Step 1. Select [STANDARD CMOS SETUP]
Set[Date/Time]and[Floppydrivetype],thenset[HardDiskType]to “Auto”.
Step 2. Select [LOAD SETUP DEFAULT]
Selectthe“LOADSETUPDEFAULT”menuandtype “Y”attheprompttoloadtheBIOS
optimalsetup.
Step 3. Select [SOYO COMBO SETUP]
Movethecursortothe
[CPUFrequency]
fieldtosettheCPUfrequency.
Available[CPUFrequency]settingsonyourSY-6VZAMotherboardaredetailedinthe
followingtable.Ifyousetthisfieldto[Manual],youarethenrequiredtofillinthenexttwo
consecutivefields:(1)theCPUHost/PCIClock,and(2)theCPURatio.

Select the working frequency of your CeleronTM
processor among these preset values.
Note: Mark the checkbox that corresponds to
the working frequency of your CeleronTM processor
in case the CMOS configuration should be lost.

thehigherPCIclock.
Step 4. Select [SAVE & EXIT SETUP]

Step 1. Insert the SOYO CD into the CD-ROM drive

TheSOYOSpeedProdrivermakesuseofanadvancedcachingalgorithm,whichgivesitan
advantageoverother busmasterdrivers.
Note:IfyouinstalltheSOYO SpeedPro BusmasterdriverforWindows95/98,youcan
NOTinstall theVIA Bus Masterdrivers.
Please select the driver you want to install and click OK, You will have to
restart your system after installation. Only the drivers that are relevant
to your board are displayed initially.

ToinstalltheaudiodriversinWindows95/98,inserttheSOYOCDintoyourCD-ROMdrive.Itwillauto-run
(Ifnot,runCdstart.exeintherootof theCD). Nowpresstheinstallthe6VZA drivers button,select
‘CreativeEnsoniqSound drivers’andpress‘OK’.Thedriverinstallationprogramwillberun,follow the
instructionsonthescreen.

Toinstall the software:
ThesoftwareinstallationinNT 4.0includes theinstallationofaudiodrivers.
1. InserttheinstallationCDintoyourCD-ROMdrive.TheAutoPlayscreenappears,
2. Followtheinstructionsonthescreentocompletetheinstallation.
TestingtheInstallationin Windows NT4.0
Youmayrunasimpleapplicationtotestthecard’sMIDIand wavesoundplayback.Thisensurethatthe
caredisproperly installedandthattherearenoconflictsintheIRQ.DMA,orI/Osettings.
Totest theinstallation:
1. IntheStartmenu,pointtoPrograms,pointtoPrograms.pointtoAccessories,pointtoMultimedia.
andthenclick[MediaPlayer].
2. OntheFilemenu,click[Option].
3. Browsetoanyfolderthatcontainsafilewiththeextensionway.Selectthefileandclickthe[Open]

UninstallingAudioPCI in WindowsNT 4.0
To uninstall the software:
1. Clickthe[Start]button,pointtoSettingsandclick[ControlPanel].Double-clicktheMultimediaicon.
2. FromtheAudioDevicestabbedpage,SelectanyexistingaudiodevicesandthenclickRemove.
Click[Yes] whenpromptedto removethedriver.
3. ClosetheMultimediaPropertieswindowsandrestartyourcomputer.
Reinstalling the Audio Drivers Fromthe Installation Disc
You may want to reinstall the audio drivers if you think they are corrupted. To do so:
1. InserttheinstallationCDintoyou CD-ROMdrive.
2. RuntheUPDPCINT.EXEprogramfromtheD:\ drivers\ensoniq\Language\NT4DRV folder,where
D:representsyourCD-ROMdriveandLanguagerepresentsthelanguageofthesoftwarethatyou
wanttoinstall.
Abriefmessageappears.Thenthepointerreturnstoitsnormalshape,indicatingthattheupdateis
complete.
