qual f ed n the nstallat on and serv ce of gas f red heat ng equ pment.

2.0) INSTALLER RESPONSIBILITY
The nstaller s respons ble for the follow ng:

•The heater and vent ng, as well as electr cal and gas suppl es must be nstalled n accordance w th these
nstallat on nstruct ons and any appl cable codes and regulat ons.

•Every heater shall be located w th respect to bu ld ng construct on and other equ pment so as to perm t
access to the heater.

•Each nstaller must follow the clearances to combust ble mater als for the heaters.
•
••
•Install the heater so that the supports and hangers are correctly spaced n accordance w th these
nstruct ons. The heater must be supported by mater als hav ng a work ng load l m t of at least 52kg.
•
••
•Supply the owner w th a copy of these Installat on and Operat on Instruct ons.
•
••
•Never use the heater as a support for a ladder or other access equ pment. Do not hang anyth ng from the
heater.
•
••
•Supply all nstallat on mater als necessary that are not ncluded w th the heater.
•
••
•Check the nameplate to make sure that the burner s correct for the gas type n the bu ld ng and the
nstallat on alt tude.
•
••
•Apply s l cone sealant to the jo nt of the fresh a r ntake to prevent the ntroduct on of mo sture nto the
system.
3.0) GENERAL INFORMATION
Th s heater s a self-conta ned nfrared rad ant tube heater des gned for use n poultry houses where flammable
gases or vapors are not generally present. Th s heater has been approved for enclosure rat ng of IP55. Th s
means t s electr cally safe after wash down w th a max mum of 12.5l/m n at 80kPa.
Installat on of th s heater must be n accordance w th all appl cable codes shown n the nstruct ons and/or the
local codes and author t es hav ng jur sd ct on. Clearances to combust bles as outl ned n the manual should
always be observed. In areas used for storage of combust ble mater als where they may be stacked below the
heater, the nstaller must post s gns that w ll “spec fy the max mum perm ss ble stack ng he ght to ma nta n the
requ red clearances from the heater to combust bles.”
Inspect all open ngs regularly and clean as necessary. Th s s necessary because l tter, dust feathers and other
matter can become a rborne and clog open ngs and adversely affect heater operat on and performance.

Although these heaters may be used n many appl cat ons other than space heat ng (e.g., process heat ng),

9.0) TYPICAL SUSPENSION METHODS
Not w th stand ng the r l m ted scope, the appl ance should be nstalled n accordance w th the relevant
prov s ons of any Nat onal Gas Safety (Installat on and Use) Regulat ons. Due account should also be taken of
any obl gat ons ar s ng from any Nat onal Health and Safety at Work Regulat ons, Nat onal and Local Bu ld ng
Regulat ons and Nat onal Electr cal W r ng Regulat ons. The appl ance must be nstalled, and where necessary,
converted for use on other gases, by a qual f ed nstaller.
Burner must be secured to the mounting flange with nuts.
All materials used to suspend the heater must have a minimum working load
of 52kg.
All S Hooks must be crimped closed.
Never use the heater to support a ladder or other access equipment.
Failure to do so may result in death, serious injury or property damage.
SUSPENSION HAZARD
Var ous means of suspend ng the heater can be used. See the follow ng draw ngs for typ cal examples.
1. Use only noncombust ble mater als for suspend ng hangers and brackets.
2. Turnbuckles can be used w th cha ns to allow level ng of the heater. All “S” hooks and eye bolts must be
manually cr mped closed by the nstaller.
3. For suspend ng the appl ance t s recommended that su table protected welded cha n (Ø 3mm x 65 l nks
per m) or Ø 8mm m n m ld steel drop rods and su table brackets are used. Attach the cha ns or drop rods to
the hanger brackets where shown prov d ng at least Ø 5mm closed l nk hooks are used cha ns may be
attached d rectly to the hanger brackets.
4. Heaters subject to v brat on must be prov ded w th v brat on solat ng hangers.
5. Heaters must not be supported by gas or electr c supply l nes and must be suspended from a permanent
structure w th adequate load capac ty.
Space-Ray recommends that the body sect ons be suspended us ng cha ns w th turnbuckles. Th s w ll allow sl ght
adjustments after assembly and heater expans on/ contract on dur ng operat on.
Failure to install the burner box suspension
chain vertically will void the manufacturers
warranty.

10.5) INSERTING TURBULATORS – EXHAUST TUBE

The heater must be assembled with the correct number of turbulator sections
and tube length for the rated heat input.

1. Place a Torct te Coupl ng over the end of the Rad ant Tube (see F g. 13) ensur ng that t engages fully, up to
the stop. Assemble the Control Box to the Rad ant Tube ensur ng that t engages fully nto the Torct te
Coupl ng (up to the stop) and s pos t oned vert cally. T ghten the nuts of the Torct te Coupl ng to secure the
Control Box to the Rad ant Tube, tak ng care to support the Control Box n l ne w th the ax s of the tube.
NOTE: T ghten the Torct te Coupl ng screws alternately wh le cont nually check ng for slackness of the jo nt.
2. Assemble the end reflector flush w th the end of the ma n body reflector. Secure by sl d ng speed cl ps onto
the reflector edges. Evenly space the speed cl ps on the s des (one each s de) and top (two requ red) of the
reflectors to prov de a snug f t. Leave a 197mm space between the end reflector and the control box
assembly.
Repeat the procedure to attach the second Reflector End Panel to the oppos te end of the Reflector.
3. The control box must be supported w th a welded cha n after overall heater suspens on s complete. Th s s
to prevent control box from sagg ng and burn ng tube out prematurely. Assemble bracket and turnbuckle to
nlet end of control box as shown.
