necessarytotheuserforoperating,cleaningandservicingtheheaters,togetherwithfault‐
findingtechniquesandgeneralspecifications,detailsanddiagrams.Pleasenotethatthe
informationgivenhereinaftermaybesubjecttorevisionincompliancewiththepolicyof
continualimprovements.
TheSPITFIRErangeofheatersshouldonlybeusedinthemannerandpurposeforwhichthey
wereintendedandinaccordancewiththerecommendationsandsafetyprecautionsdetailed

5. Donotoperatethisheaterinbasementsorbelowground.
6. Permanentventilationtotheoutsideatmospheremustbeprovided.Allow6.5cm2for
every293Winputdividedequallybetweenfloorandhighlevels.
7. Notfordomesticuse,spaceheatingonly.
8. Theheatermustnotbeusedincloseproximitytocombustiblematerial.Aguardmust
beplaced900mmawayfromtheheateroutlettopreventtheapproachofcombustible
materials.
9. ReadcarefullytheinstructionsconcerningElectricityandFuelSupply.
10.Useonlycleanfiltereddieselorkeroseneasfuel.Donotrefillthefueltankwhilethe
heaterisrunning.
11.Donotoperatetheheaterwiththetopcoverremoved.
12.Allowaminimumroomsizeaslistedinthetechnicalspecifications.
13.Donotpullontheelectricalcordinordertounplugtheunit.
14.Donoteffecttemporaryrepairsonwornordamagedelectricalcordsandplugs.Have
worn,cutordamagedcordsandplugsreplacedbyanauthorisedservice
person/electrician.
15.Topreventinjuryalwaysdisconnectthepowerplugbeforedisassemblinganypartofthe
heater,effectinganyservicingorwhentheunitisnotinuse.
16.Localregulationsshouldbefollowedastotheinstallationofindustrialheaters.

ELECTRICITYSUPPLY
TheSPITFIRErangeofheatersisdesignedtorunoff220‐240VSingle‐Phase50Hzelectrical
supply.Theunitshouldbepluggedintoa10Aoutlet.
WARNING:Thisappliancemustbeearthed.
Note:IfthePlugneedstobereplacedtosuitlocalrequirementsaqualifiedelectricianshould
carryoutthereplacementtakingcaretoearththeunitandmaintainthecorrectphase
connectionasperthewiringdiagram.
FUELSUPPLY
Pleaseonlyusethefollowingfueltypesintheheater:Kerosenewithviscosityof1.3cstor
Dieselwithviscosityof1.5cst.
WARNING: Undernocircumstancesshouldanyotherfueltypebeused.Donotfillthefuel
tankwhiletheheaterisrunning.

INSTALLATION(AllModels)
1. Identifyyourunitfromthemodeldescriptionontheserialnumberlabelaffixedtothe
heater.
2. Wherenecessary.Fitwheelsonaxleusingtheclipsandcoversupplied.Fitaxle
assembly,handleandsupporttothetankusingthebolts,nutsandwasherssupplied.

4. FilltheFuelTankusingcleanfilteredfuel.
5. ConnectPowerPlugtoMainsPowerOutlet.

OPERATINGINSTRUCTIONS
1. TurnpowerswitchtotheOn(I)position.Thiswillstarttheignitioncycle.
2. Iftheheaterisinlock‐out,torestart,switchthemainswitchonthemachineoffandon
againafterreferringtopointBinthetroubleshootingguide.

1. TurnpowerswitchtotheOff(0)position.
2. Removetheplugfromtheelectricaloutlet.

MAINTENANCEANDFAULTFINDINGPROCEDURES
WARNING:ALWAYSISOLATEUNITFROMTHEELECTRICALSUPPLYBEFOREATTEMPTING
ANYREPAIRSORMAINTENANCE.
General:
Every150hours:Washinletfilterwithmilddetergentanddry.
Filtermustbethoroughlydrybeforereplacingandmustnotbeoiled.
Every150hours:Checkthatallairlinesaretightandingoodcondition.
Every300hours:Replacefuelfilter.
Every600hours:Drainthefueltankandflushitusingcleanfuel.
PressureSetting:
Onceperseasonorwhennecessary,adjustpressuresettingasperprocedurebelow.
‐ThepressuresettingmustbeadjustedtoachievearedexitconewithNOflameexiting
theheater.
‐Aredexitconewillensureodourfreeoperation.
Toadjustpressuresetting:
1. Startandrunheateruntilstableoperatingtemperatureisachieved.
2. Withheaterrunning,loosenlocknutA.
3. SetcorrectpressurebyadjustingvalveB.
‐Screwingthevalveclockwisewillincreasethefuelflowandachieveamoreredexit
cone.
‐Ifflamesareexitingtheheater,turnthevalveanti‐clockwisetoreducefuelflow.
4. Oncesuitablepressurehasbeenset,tightenlocknutA.
