GABLE FAN INSTALLATION

GBL1250 FT, GBL 1650 FT, GBL 2000 FT
USE THIS PAGE FOR - Mounting an SRS Gable Fan behind a louvered gable vent.
TheSunRise™Solar-Powered GableFanis designed to mountbehindexistinglouvers ontheinsideoftheattic.If
nolouverexists,onemustbeinstalled.Louveredventshouldbe mountedin thecenter ofthe upperportionofthe
gablewall as highaspossible. Thereis somelossinfan output becauselouversblocksomeofthe airflow. Metal
louvershavemoreopen areathan woodlouversandusuallyallowmoreairflow.
Wheninstalling theSunRiseGableFanbehindlouvers,youshouldseal offor box in anylouverareanotcovered by
theventilatorhousingto preventairleakageand recirculation.Allowatleastonesquarefoot of airintakearea for
every300CFMofventilatorcapacity.Airintakeshouldcome from theeaves(soffit),or alouvermounted on the
oppositegableend of attic.
CAUTION:Wheninstallinglouvers, do not removeexistingstructural memberswithoutprovidingalternatesupport.

MountingInstructions:
1) Screwornail GableFanHousingto framingdirectlybehind gablelouveras discussedabove.
2) Removesolarpanel frompacking.Findasuitablelocationonthe roof to mountsolarpanel –aSouthernor
Western-facingroofslopewill allowthe solarpanel tocapturethemostsunlight duringtheheatofthe day.
Thesolarpanel comeswitha15’ extensioncord,sobesurethesolarpanel is not morethan 15’ fromthe
GableFanHousinginsidetheattic.
3) Ifpossible,feed thewireintotheatticthroughan existingventholeorridgecap.Or,drill a3/8”holethrough
theroofandfeedthe wire downinto theattic.Applyagenerous amount ofsiliconeorother sealantto the
areawhere thewiregoes through roof.
4) IfinstallingaSunRise1250PanelinABSFrame,set thesolarpanelin place,and mounttoroofusingthe
(8)exterior-grade screwsprovided. Applysealanttoscrewheads andaround perimeterof
mountingflangetopreventleaks.IfinstallingaSunRise1650orSunRise2000pleaserefertothe
METALFRAMEinstructionsonthebackofthissheet.
5) Frominsideattic,connectwires tosolarpanel,matchingred(or white) to redandblackto black.
6) Gentlyplugwireconnectorsintotabsonsideof motor,redto red andblacktoblack.
7) Useincluded wiretiestosecureloosewiretomotorbracketarm.
NOTE:Wireconnectionsmustbecorrectbeforecompletingtheinstallation. Ifpositive(redorwhite)is
mistakenlypluggedintothenegative(blackorblue)sideitwillnotharmthemotor,butthefanwillnotrun.
