Congratulations on your new Stage Zero Volta 500 Unit. We are sure that you will be very satisfied with this product as
we pride ourselves on providing quality products. This product is proudly manufactured in South Africa.
Please read this User Manual and follow the instructions carefully before using this Volta 500 unit.
1 General Information
This general manual provides important safety information relating to the installation, maintenance and handling of
Stage Zero Volta 500 series units.
Failure to follow these instructions may result in death, injury or property damage. The words, module and unit used in
this manual refers to one or more Stage Zero series power supply units.
This manual is only valid for the standard module types – Volta 500 unit.
Please retain this manual for future reference.
We recommend referring to www.stagezero.co.za regularly for the most updated version.

1.2 Limitation of Liability
Stage Zero shall not be held responsible for damages of any kind, including – without limitation,
Ø bodily harm.
Ø injury or damage to property.
o In connection with the handling of the Volta 500 unit.
o System installation.
o Or compliance or non-compliance with the instructions set forth in this manual.
2 Safety Precautions Volta 500
2.1 Risk of Unsafe Operation
When using this Volta 500-unit, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of personal injury.
Improper operation, maintenance or modification of this Volta 500 unit could result in serious injury and property
damage. There are certain applications for which this Volta 500 unit is designed. Stage Zero stipulates that this Volta 500
product may not be modified and/or used for any application other than for which it was designed.
2.2 Shock Hazard Warning
Before attempting to install and operate the Volta 500 unit and other electrical equipment, all instructions should be
read and understood. Contact with electrically active parts of the Volta 500 unit, such as terminals, can result in injury or
death, irrespective of whether or not the Volta 500 unit and the other electrical equipment have been connected.
2.3 Li -Ion Battery Safety
The Volta 500 unit contains a LiFePO4 battery. The following safety instructions must be followed;
• Do not put the Volta 500 Unit near external heat sources or in direct sunlight
• Do not put batteries in contact with conductive materials, water, seawater, strong oxidizers, and strong acids.
• Do not pack flammable materials around the Volta 500 unit.
If the Volta 500 unit emits smoke or unusual odours, please immediately disconnect the unit from the mains power
supply and from appliances/devices. Should a fire occur, use a DCP or CO2 type fire extinguisher. Do not use water.
2.4 General Safety
Before attempting to install, operate and / or replace the fuse on the Volta 500 unit, all instructions should be read and
understood. All other maintenance and repair requirements must be reported to the help line who will arrange for the
necessary work to be conducted.
Do not use or install damaged Volta 500 units.
Only the fuse may be replaced on this Volta 500 unit, Do not attempt to repair any other part of the Volta 500 unit.
Do not disassemble a Volta 500 unit or remove any Volta 500 unit’s parts.
Keep all connectors clean and dry at all times and free from obstruction.
Do not expose the Volta 500 units and its connectors to any chemical substance. Store in a safe place away from oil,
lubricants etc.
Do not connect or disconnect units when current from the Volta 500 unit or an external source is present.

5 Unpacking, Handling and Storage Volta 500
5.1 Precautions
Volta 500 unit should be stored in a dry and ventilated environment to avoid direct sunlight and moisture.
Unpack Volta 500-unit boxes carefully. Unpack, transport and store the Volta 500 unit with care.
During transportation, please make sure there is no strenuous vibration on the Volta 500 unit.
Do not paint or apply any other adhesive on the Volta 500 unit.
Do not repair problematic units on your own. If the Volta 500 unit is faulty, please call the help line for
assistance.
Volta 500 units are to be placed on a rigid surface with sufficient space for the unit.
Do not drill holes into the Volta 500 unit. This will void the warranty.
Do not use Volta 500 units in damp or wet locations.
Do not use Volta 500 units outdoors.
Store idle Volta 500 units indoors. When not in use, units should be stored indoors in a dry place – out of
reach of children.
Do not overload the Volta 500 unit. It will do the job better and with less likelihood of a risk of injury at the
rate for which it was designed.

Disconnect the Volta 500 unit from the power supply before replacing the fuse, and when changing
accessories.
Proper cooling is essential when operating the Volta 500 unit.
Do not place the Volta 500 unit in direct sunlight.
Extension cords. Make sure your extension cord is in good condition.
When using an extension cord, be sure to use one heavy enough to carry the current your product will
draw. An undersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage resulting in loss of power and overheating. Only
cords of 2.5mm or larger may be used.
Please ensure that the extension cord does not present a tripping hazard.
Never immerse the Volta 500 unit in water or any other liquid or use when wet.
Do not insert foreign objects into the Volta 500 unit’s outlets.
Do not operate the Volta 500 unit near flammable materials, fumes or gases.
Do not use this Volta 500 unit with medical devices or in medical locations. It is not tested for medical
applications.
6 Equipment Features Volta 500
6.1 How This Volta 500 Unit Works
The inverter is an electronic device that converts low voltage DC (direct current) electricity from the battery to 230 volts
AC (alternating current) household power. The battery is charged when it is plugged into the mains supply.
Plug items into the Volta 500 unit that you need to be powered, keeping in mind the unit’s capacity of 500W. The Volta
500 unit is not suitable for use with appliances with electric motors such as fridges, washing machines, air conditioners
etc.
7 Equipment Supplied
The following equipment is required to complete the installation;
• 500 W Volta 500-unit module, with 230V electrical cable and 2 pin plug. (1.2m figure 8 – 2-point input)

8.1 Installation - Volta 500 Unit
Carefully unpack the Volta 500 unit from the box, please retain the original packaging and this manual for future
reference and use.
Inspect the Volta 500 unit for any damage such as scratches, dents, marked panels, damaged plug receptacles, and
labelling. If found to be damaged, please contact Stage Zero.
Find a suitable place where you would like to use the Volta 500 unit, and what equipment you wish to connect to the
Volta 500 unit. Please keep in mind that extension cables must be kept as short as possible and do not use extension
cables that are coiled while in use.
Please keep in mind the warnings mentioned in sections 2, 3 & 4 above before selecting a suitable position to place
your Volta 500 unit.
8.2 Operating Instructions Volta 500 Unit
Plug the Volta 500 unit (using the cable supplied) into the electrical mains (220-230 VAC 50Hz).
You can then utilise the Volta 500 unit to power the equipment you wish to power keeping in mind the unit’s capacity
(220-240 VAC, 500W MAX).
The Volta 500 unit should function for two hours or more under full load while the mains power is off. This is dependent
upon the number of appliances plugged into the Volta 500 unit as well as the watts they require.

This is also dependant on whether the Volta 500 unit’s batteries were fully charged at the time of use.
The Volta 500 units batteries should take 4 hours to fully charge from the point where they were completely discharged.
The Volta 500 unit will make a buzzing sound if it is being overloaded, this may result in the unit tripping. If the unit trips,
unplug the appliances from the Volta 500 unit and reset the Volta 500 by unplugging it from the mains electrical supply.
You can then plug the Volta 500 unit back into the mains electrical supply. You may then plug your appliances/devices
back into the Volta 500 unit. If you hear buzzing, please remove an appliance/device to lower the load on the Volta 500
unit.
The Volta 500 unit will also make a buzzing sound when the battery of the Volta 500 unit drops to low levels. At this point
the Volta 500 unit needs to be recharged as the unit may shut down due to low battery level.
9 Care and Maintenance
• Ideal storage temperature range is 0-40°C.
• Store and use the Volta 500 unit in a cool, dry place with adequate ventilation for all-around air circulation.
• Avoid locations that are exposed to heating units, radiators, direct sunlight, or excessive humidity or dampness.
• From time to time wipe the outside of the Volta 500 unit with a soft cloth. Do not immerse the unit in water.
10 Trouble Shooting
The Volta 500 unit will make a buzzing sound if it is being overloaded, this may result in the unit tripping. If the unit trips,
unplug the appliances/devices from the Volta 500 unit and reset the Volta 500 by unplugging it from the mains electrical
supply. You can then plug the Volta 500 unit back into the mains electrical supply. You may then plug your
appliances/devices back into the Volta 500 unit. If you hear buzzing, please remove an appliance/device to lower the load
on the Volta 500 unit.
The Volta 500 unit will also make a buzzing sound when the battery of the Volta 500 unit drops to low levels. At this point
the Volta 500 unit needs to be recharged as the unit may shut down due to low battery level.
All other problems with the Volta 500 unit must be reported via the help line. The help line will arrange for any repairs to
the unit.
11 Warranty
Stage Zero warrants this product against defects in materials and workmanship.
This warranty does not apply to defects resulting from normal wear and tear, accidents; damages sustained during
shipping; alterations; unauthorized use or repair; neglect, misuse, abuse; and failure to follow instructions for care and
maintenance for the product.
