b. If you require a voltage stabilizer for refrigerator or air-conditioning unit at the installation
location, then a voltage stabilizer will be essential for the machine.
c. Proper Earth connection at the site for connecting the marking machine. Use a multi-meter
to measure and verify the status of electrical earth.
Mechanical:
a. Compressed Air Supply minimum 4 bar consistent pressure is required if you are using PH
Stylus and 2 bar pressure if you are using LP Stylus.

8 | P a g e

b. Usually, if compressed air supply is not available, then it is required to procure a
compressor. Compressor of 1hp capacity with 40 liter tank capacity is sufficient for the
working of marking machine.
c. Always ensure that the compressed air line is taken directly from the compressor and there
is no pneumatic tool or air cleaning gun attached to the compressed air line.
d. Ensure that the connection from the compressor to the machine is via the pressure
regulator supplied and using a PU8N (8mm OD Tube made for Push IN type fittings) Tube.
e. Compressor is required only for Pneumatic Marking Machine and not for the Electric
Marking Machine.
f. A Table for mounting the Controller and marking machine.
g. Fixture to hold the components while marking. These are customized devices made to suit

When Using the PH / HF Stylus type.
Other types of HF Stylus available are shown here.
This is the
Standard
PH-16 Stylus.
This will soon
be replaced
by HF-16
Stylus.
For using the PH or HF Stylus, the Stylus ON
delay and Stylus OFF Delay values need to be
set at minimum. Usually, 6 ms is suitable for
these stylus use.
In this stylus, the dot distance and dot
repeat number values have no significance.

When using the LP / LS Type of Stylus.
Different types of LP Stylus available are shown here.
This is the
Standard LP-10
Stylus. This is
also known as
LS-10 Stylus
For using the LP or LS Stylus, the
Stylus ON delay and Stylus OFF
Delay values need to be set at
minimum of 10 ms.
In this stylus, the dot distance and
dot repeat number values decide
the distance between two
consecutive dots and the number
of times to repeat each dot.
This type of stylus is used when
customer required deep marking on
component.

Select the right stylus
We have various stylus types available for different applications.
All the stylus types use tungsten carbide rods. Since we use a solid tungsten carbide rod,
these are re-grindable up to 3-4 times.
All the stylus tips have similar life and can easily mark 1 million characters of 3 mm height on
maximum 35 HRc hard component. There is no predictable life expectancy for marking on
components beyond 35 HRc hardness. However, the stylus can easily mark on components
up to 60 HRc hardness.
For any type of marking the marking depth is controlled by two things. One is the air pressure
and other is the distance of the stylus tip from the object being marked. By varing these two
things, the marking depth can be controlled.
PH / HF TYPE STYLUSES:
This stylus starts vibrating as soon as you give compressed air supply to the stylus piston. A
ph stylus is used when one requires fast marking in continuous font mode i.e. overlapping
dots. A ph stylus has a short amplitude of vibration (stroke) and hence cannot mark on
uneven surface or circumference of a cylindrical object. A ph stylus has a standard tip angle
of 90 degrees included and is also available in 60 and 110 degrees on special request.
LP / LS TYPE STYLUSES:
This stylus has construction similar to a single acting pneumatic cylinder. This stylus does not
start vibrating as soon as compressed air is started. The pneumatic valve needs to be closed
and opened for every dot. As a result this stylus is not as fast as the ph stylus. The software
needs to be set to operate a lp stylus. The distance between two dots need to be set and the
no of dots for each dot need to be set. However, the lp stylus has a very long amplitude of
vibrations (stroke) and hence is ideal for marking on uneven surfaces. This stylus is capable
of marking on cylindrical objects without the need to rotate or move the component. The lp
stylus can also mark in continuous font mode but the speed is far less than ph mode. A lp

Attach the Stylus on the machine.
Take the stylus in your hand and take it near the stylus holder on the machine.
Now attach engage the stylus on the socket threading. Note, never try to engage the stylus in
the stylus holder forcibly. That will damage the stylus holder as well as the stylus.
Now tighten the stylus in the holder only by hand. Do not use a spanner to tighten the stylus in
the holder. That will also damage the stylus holder and stylus.
