Assembly Instructions
4POSTRACKBK
Thank you for purchasing a StarTech.com 4POSTRACKBK. Ideal for rackmount equipment,
KVM switches, or cabinet consoles, this open server rack provides fast and easy access to all
your installed rackmount equipment. With total ventilation and an unobstructed airflow,
this rack keeps your equipment at room temperature and is suitable for equipment where
security at the rack level is not required.

1. Make sure that your frames are right side up.
The bottom of the frame has holes for the floor mounts and casters. Make sure
that this end is at the bottom.
2. Attach the floor mounts.
Attach the floor mounts (the L-shaped brackets) to the frames. Use a washer, a lock washer, and a bolt behind each of the screws and
install the bottom screws first. (The bolt will be on the outside of the rack, the screw will be on the inside) You will need the wrench
and the Allen key to perform this step.
3. Attach the arms to the frames.
Separate your arms into pairs (consisting of one wide and one
narrow arm per pair). You will have six pairs of arms, three for each
side of the rack. The arms that connect the top and middle of the
frames are interchangeable. The narrow arms that connect the bottom
of the frames can be identified by the pre-mounted nuts on the inside
of the arms.
NOTE: When installing the arms, it might be easiest to start with the top arms for stability.

Snap the cage nuts on the back (inside) of the narrow arms. It is recommended that you install several cage nuts on each arm. The
cage nuts are easier to install when the rack is not fully assembled. You should install more cage nuts than necessary in case you
change the depth of the rack in the future.
Determine the depth of your rack. Using two screws, attach one of the arms to the holes on the inside of the frame. Attach the other
arm to the other side of the frame, making sure that the wider arm is on the outside of the narrow arm. Secure the two arms together
using the provided screws.
NOTE: For stability, StarTech.com recommends that you have use at least two screws to secure the rack arms.
4. Attach the floor plates.
Place the floor plates over the bottom of the rack. One floor plate has only one “flap” along the side. You can overlap this floor
plate over the other when necessary. Secure the floor plates to the rack from the top.
5. Secure the completed rack.
Bolt the assembled rack into the ground or install the casters (StarTech.com ID: 4POSTCASTER). If you are bolting the rack, the type
of bolt you use will depend on the floor material.
6. Install your rackmount equipment.
Using the rackmount screws and cage nuts, install your rackmount equipment in the 4POSTRACKBK.
