Before using your new USB enclosure, please read this
instruction manual to prevent any damage. Put it away in a
safe place for future references.
IMPORTANT
Before to manipulate the HDD, use an anti-static bracelet to
send electric discharges from your body to the physical ground.
Be careful when you connect the cables, pins may bend and
break.
Do not use or store the equipment near wet places.
Clean only with a soft, dry cloth.

HARDWARE INSTALLATION
1.- Remove the frontal panel of the USB hard disk enclosure.
2.- Connect the IDE cable to HDD, make sure that the
eyelash located on the middle of the IDE cable coincides with the
HDD groove, otherwise you cannot plug the cable.
3.- Connect the power cord to HDD.

4.- Place the HD on the base and fasten it.
5.- Place the HDD into the hard disk enclosure, please pay
attention to put the base in the special slot, otherwise, may not
enter correctly.
6.- Tighten up the frontal panel, screwing by the sides.

The USB to IDE 3.5” HDD enclosure only works in Master
mode. Make the changes in the jumpers before close the
box and connect the enclosure to the computer.
If you don’t have enough knowledge about HDD internal
configuration, we recommend you ask a technician,
otherwise may cause several damages in the equipment.
SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
If you use Windows ME, Windows 2000 or Windows XP OS, you
need no drivers.
HOW TO USE BY FIRST TIME THE USB TO IDE
3.5” HDD ENCLOSURE
Once you have made the correct internal connections, you can
start to use your new USB to IDE 3.5” HDD enclosure.
1.- Plug the USB cable into the right input jack on the enclosure,
then, insert the opposite extreme into an available USB 2.0 port
in the computer.
2.- Plug the AC power adaptor to the enclosure and connect it
into an AC household outlet.
3.- Automatically, the PC will detects the new hardware, and then
begins an updating process.

4.- Once the process ends, the next message appears on the
screen: your new hardware is correctly installed. This message
means that you can start to use the new hardware.
5.- The external HDD appears as USB Mass Storage Device and
you can identify it by a letter (usually by letter F or letter G, but it
could appears another one).
6.- If you want to transfer any kind of files between different
drives, just copy and paste the desired files using Windows
Explorer.
7.- When you want to remove the device, click on the icon in the
system tray “ ” using the left button on the mouse and choose
Safety Remove. When the message: “you may safely remove
this device” appears on the screen, you can unplug the
equipment from the computer.

Antes de utilizar su nueva Unidad Externa para Disco Duro
3,5” IDE USB 2.0 lea este instructivo para evitar cualquier
mal funcionamiento. Guárdelo para futuras referencias.
IMPORTANTE
Antes de manipular el disco duro, utilice una pulsera antiestática
para enviar las descargas eléctricas de su cuerpo a tierra física.
Nunca introduzca a presión los cables, podrían doblarse y
quebrarse los pines de conexión.
No use ni almacene este equipo en lugares donde existan
goteras o salpicaduras de agua.
Siempre utilice un paño suave, limpio y seco para limpiar el
equipo.

INSTALACIÓN DE HARDWARE
1.- Retire la cubierta frontal del equipo.
2.- Conecte el cable IDE a su disco duro, asegurándose de que
la pestaña ubicada al centro del cable coincida con la ranura del
disco duro, de otra forma no podrá conectar el cable.
3.- Conecte el cable de energía a su disco duro.

4.- Asegure el disco duro en la base, como muestra la figura.
5.- Coloque el disco duro en el interior de la caja, poniendo
atención de colocar la base en la ranura especial para ella, de
otra forma, podría no entrar o entrar forzada la base.
6.- Asegure el panel frontal por los costados, utilizando los
tornillos pequeños incluidos.

El disco USB externo solo puede funcionar en modo
Maestro (Master).
Realice los cambios en los jumpers antes de cerrar la caja
de metal y conectarlo a la computadora.
En caso de que no tenga conocimientos acerca de
modificaciones en el disco duro se recomienda acudir
con un técnico especialista, de otra forma podría dañar el
equipo.
INSTALACIÓN DE DRIVERS
Si tiene instalado Windows ME, Windows 2000 o Windows XP
en su computadora, no necesita instalar drivers.
UTILIZANDO POR PRIMERA VEZ SU UNIDAD
EXTERNA PARA DISCO DURO
Una vez que ha realizado las conexiones internas
correspondientes, usted podrá comenzar a utilizar su nueva
unidad externa para disco duro.
1.- Inserte el cable USB en la entrada de la unidad externa, el
extremo contrario conéctelo a un puerto USB 2.0 disponible en
la computadora.
2.- Conecte el adaptador de corriente suministrado a la unidad
externa y a un tomacorriente casero.
3.- La computadora detectará el nuevo equipo y comenzará un
proceso de actualización automática.

4.- Una vez que termine este proceso, aparecerá el mensaje de
que el equipo estará listo para usarse.
5.- Su disco duro aparecerá como un Dispositivo de
Almacenamiento Masivo USB y será identificado con una letra
(F ó G normalmente, pero podría aparecer otra).
6.- Para realizar la transferencia de archivos entre diversas
unidades, simplemente copie y pegue los archivos utilizando el
Explorador de Windows.
7.- Cuando desee retirar el equipo, presione el botón el botón
izquierdo del ratón sobre el icono “ ” y seleccione Extracción
Segura. Cuando el mensaje “Es Seguro Retirar el Hardware”
aparezca, podrá desconectar el equipo de la computadora.

WARRANTY
This Steren product is warranted under normal usage against defects in workmanship and materials
to the original purchaser for one year from the date of purchase.
CONDITIONS
1.- This warranty card with all the required information, invoice or purchase ticket, product box or
package, and product, must be presented when warranty service is required.
2.- If the product stills on the warranty time, the company will repair it free of charge.
3.- The repairing time will not exceed 30 natural days, from the day the claim was received.
4.- Steren sell parts, components, consumables and accesories to costumer, as well as warranty
service, at any of the addresses mentioned later.
THIS WARRANTY IS VOID IN THE NEXT CASES:
If the product has been damaged by an accident, acts of God, mishandling, leaky batteries, failure
to follow enclosed instructions, improper repair by unauthorized personnel, improper safe keeping,
among others.

contra cualquier defecto de fabricación y funcionamiento, a partir de la fecha de entrega.
CONDICIONES
1.- Para hacer efectiva la garantía, presente ésta póliza y el producto, en donde fue adquirido o en
Electrónica Steren S.A. de C.V.
2.- Electrónica Steren S.A de C.V. se compromete a reparar el producto en caso de estar defectuoso
sin ningún cargo al consumidor. Los gastos de transportación serán cubiertos por el proveedor.
3.- El tiempo de reparación en ningún caso será mayor a 30 días, contados a partir de la recepción
del producto en cualquiera de los sitios donde pueda hacerse efectiva la garantía.
4.- El lugar donde puede adquirir partes, componentes, consumibles y accesorios, así como hacer
válida esta garantía es en cualquiera de las direcciones mencionadas posteriormente.
ESTA PÓLIZA NO SE HARA EFECTIVA EN LOS SIGUIENTES CASOS:
1.- Cuando el producto ha sido utilizado en condiciones distintas a las normales.
2.- Cuando el producto no ha sido operado de acuerdo con el instructivo de uso.
3.- Cuando el producto ha sido alterado o reparado por personal no autorizado por Electrónica
Steren S.A. de C.V.
El consumidor podrá solicitar que se haga efectiva la garantía ante la propia casa comercial donde
adquirió el producto. Si la presente garantía se extraviara, el consumidor puede recurrir a su
proveedor para que le expida otra póliza de garantía, previa presentación de la nota de compra o
factura respectiva.
