Getting Started
Before first use
• Unpack the appliance but keep all packaging materials until you have made sure
your new freezer is undamaged and in good working order. Plastic wrapping can
be a suffocation hazard for babies and young children, so ensure all packaging
materials are out of their reach.
• Remove all securing tapes and foam from under the condenser at the back of the unit.
• Check to ensure you have all the parts pictured opposite.
• Read this manual to familiarise yourself with all the parts and operating principles.
Pay particular attention to the safety instructions on the previous pages.
• Unwind the cord to its full length and inspect it for damage. Do not use the
appliance if the appliance or its cord have been damaged. In such a case, contact
our after sales support line for advice.
• Make sure the freezer is disconnected from the power supply before cleaning the
interior surfaces with lukewarm water using a soft cloth. Dry thoroughly.
• Your freezer has the capability of the door opening from the right or left side. If your
setup requires reversal of the door swing, follow the instructions on pages 16-18.
• Your new freezer is now ready for installation.
Installing the freezer
• Before installing your new freezer, read all safety instructions, especially the sections
on electrical safety and installation on page 6. Then follow the instructions below.
• Place the freezer on a sturdy, level floor that is strong enough to support the unit
when it is fully loaded. Installing it in the coolest area of the room will save energy
consumption and running costs.
• Avoid areas where the freezer would be exposed to direct sunlight, sources of
heat (stove, heater, radiator, etc.), extreme cold ambient temperatures or excessive
moisture and high humidity.
• To level the freezer, adjust the levelling legs at the bottom of the unit.
• Allow at least 12cm clear space at the back and sides of the unit to ensure proper
air circulation, which is necessary to cool the compressor and condenser.
• Before plugging in your new freezer, let it stand upright for approximately 2
hours. This will allow the refrigerant gases to settle into the compressor and reduce
the possibility of a malfunction in the cooling system.
• Plug the unit into an exclusive, properly installed and earthed wall outlet. Do not
under any circumstances cut or remove the third (earth) prong from the power cord.
• Secure the freezer’s supply cord behind the unit. Do not leave it exposed or
dangling to prevent injury and accidental disconnection from the power supply.
• After plugging the appliance into a wall outlet, allow the unit to cool down for
2 to 3 hours before placing food in the freezer compartment.
