EN-1
Thank you for choosing Suaoki.
UT387B is a rapid hand-held wall detector which can be used to
detect metals, beams and live wires hidden in the wall (including
floor and ceiling).
Please read the manual carefully before use and follow the
instructions. Our company reserves the right to modify the manual.

Operating Guidance
Note:
Make sure that the detection area is dry before use.
If the device has gone through abrupt changes in ambient
temperature, do not use it immediately and give some time for the
device to adapt to the environment. Please note that the operating
temperature of this device falls between 0°C to 40°C.
Make sure that there is no strong electromagnetic interference
around.
Install the battery
Open the battery cover. Install the battery by properly placing its
positive and negative terminals, and then close the battery cover.
Note: If your are not going to use this product for a long time,
please remove the battery to avoid damages caused by battery
leakage.
Turn on the product
Hold the unit in air without touching other objects and short press
the power button to turn on the unit.
Calibration
Auto Calibration
Once turned on, the unit would automatically calibrate itself. You
will know that this product is successfully calibrated when a click
sign √ appears next to the “AUTOCAL” sign on the bottom-left
corner of screen.
Manual Calibration
However, if the detector sounds an alarm when it is powered on
and away from other metal objects, you need to re-calibrate this
product manually. Make sure to hold the detector in air and keep it
away from other objects. To re-calibrate, hold the ZOOM and SOUND

EN-4
button at the same time for three seconds. Then, the detector
would turn off by itself to complete the manual calibration. The
purpose of manual calibration is to eliminate the influence of
undesirablevariables around, using the current environment as a
basis for comparison.
Select detection modes
Once turned on, the product would enter into metal detection mode
by default. Switch to wood detection mode by pressing wood
detection button. The wood icon would appear on screen. Switch to
AC wire detection mode by pressing the AC wire detection button.
The AC wire icon would appear on screen.
Detection
1)Metal detection
Press this unit against the wall, and move slowly in one direction.
When the metal object located outside the max detection range
(80mm), the green light would be on and the detector would not
beep. When metal object is located within the detection range, the
red light would be on and the detector sounds an alarm. The unit
would also display the detected signal on screen. The closer the
unit gets to the metal object, the stronger the signal.
Mark at the groove spot when the signal reaches its highest level. It
is best to move the detector in reverse direction to confirm the
location of metal object.
ZOOM function
If the targeted metal object is small and deeply buried, you need
to hold the ZOOM button to maximize the signal. Refer to ZOOM
signal when using this function. The closer the unit gets to the
metal object, the stronger the signal.

EN-5
2)Wood detection
Step 1: Take sample of the wall material
Press the unit against the wall. Long press ZOOM button. The
green light would be on. “ZOOM” signal and the triangular signal
would disappear on screen. Signal bar and “AUTOCAL √” sign
would appear on the screen.
Step 2: Locate the center of wood stud
▪Keep pressing the unit against the wall and holding the ZOOM
button. Slide the unit slowly in one direction. When wood object is
located within the detection range (20mm max), the red light
would be on and the detector sounds an alarm. The unit would
also display the detected signal on screen. The closer the unit
gets to the edge of wood stud, the stronger the signal. Mark at
the groove spot when the signal reaches its highest level.
▪Move the detector in reverse direction and use the same method
to locate the other edge of the wood stud. Mark at the groove
spot when the signal reaches its highest level. The midpoint of the
two markers is the center of wood stud.
Step 3: Confirm the location
If by chance the product is placed over a wood stud when taking
sample, the unit will not work properly and the result could be
faulty. To confirm the finding, select a different location to take
sample (on the left or right side of the previous sampling point).
Use the same detection method and see if you can get the same
result.
3)AC wire detection
Press the product against the wall. If there is a live wire located
within the detection range, the detector would sound an alarm if it
detects an electric field with certain intensity. The approximate
position of the AC wire would be determined according to the
strength of AC electric field signal [check figure 3]. If there is no
disturbance coming from other electric fields, the stronger the
signal, the closer the detector gets to the live wire.
Note:
1. DO NOT place your hand on the wall, which may shield the
signal and interfere with detection result.
2. This product could be used to detect AC wire (110V, 50-60Hz).
However, the signal would be weaker when the wire is grounded,
and thus it would be more difficult to detect AC wire.
3. If the AC wire is connected to working electrical appliances, then
it is easy to pinpoint the exact location of AC wire. However,
when the wire is buried inside metal surface or damp object, it
may not be detected by this product.
4. When detecting a wire, the detection range of the detector would
be affected if a ground wire and the wire are connected.
5. This product is not for fire walls (with shielded space), walls in
shielded room and concrete walls. If you want to locate AC wire
behind those types of walls, you need to look for more
professional AC wire detector. Those types of walls would block
detecting signal. So, it is very difficult to find AC wire unless it is
very close to the surface. For concrete wall, you could only check
whether if a wall outlet is working or not.
Silent mode
A silent mode can be selected if your find the beeping alarm
annoying. Simply press the mute button. The mute icon would
appear on screen.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Clean the detector with dry and soft cloth. Do not clean it with
detergents or other chemicals. The detector has gone through
rigorous quality testing prior to delivery. If any non-human failure
